Chicadee-dee-dees

These were the very first pictures I ever took with a digital camera.

My son gave me his "old" camera, when he upgraded his.

You know....since then....I am on my 3rd of his "old" cameras...and I have never looked back.

Since switching to digital....I have probably taken about a billion pictures.....I am hoping that practice makes perfect!!

Have a lovely evening...

Chatter......Well.....I think you get the picture!!!!

We started with some delicious hand made Pizza for lunch...should have taken a picture, but yakking too much!!
Started the Scrabble marathon around 1pm....had several cups of tea....fruit and yogurt around 3pm...still going....played three games!!!

This was my best board...Sharron won 2 out 3 games...but I always expect that!!! She has taught me a lot about the game...how to make 2-3 words at one time...really racks up the points...

Finally stopped for dinner at 6pm...homemade Scotch Broth...crusty bread.... and greek salad with avacado...yummy...again...no pictures...I gotta get this thing right next time!!!

After that....we settled into Coronation Street... and continued to yak until midnight!!!

This morning.one of my garden geraniums had this beautiful bloom on it...to brighten the day....a light snow is falling....

Sharron said she hadn't slept this well for YEARS....says she loves to visit her favorite "Inn"...very complimentary......It is always nice spending time with Family...and just.....relaxing......

Hope you all have a good day....be careful driving..

Mushrooms Anyone???

I always toil over what to put on my blog....I am pretty well a home-body...cooking, cleaning, re-arranging...things like that. Of course I am always in touch with my children, and am continually try to offer any piece of wordly advice I can dream up!!! But what I really like to do, is take pictures,.... and share them with my friends.   I have driven my husband to the airport, gone on  business for a few days...picked up a few groceries, and am awaiting the arrival of my son....and we are going to make shepherd's pie together.....
So....I decided to select a few pics to share with you...I thought mushrooms would be good. I didn't do any homework on them....I can just tell you where they grew and when....  :o)

I found this sweet little guy last July....I had brought a Lilac from the lake, and I wondered if he tagged along for the ride....wanted to see the "big city"!!

These cute fungi were growing all along my side yard...between the bricks, and in the gravel up the side...along with quite a bit of moss...these were in October...around Halloween..

These were at the cottage ...growing on my mulch pile...in December!! I wonder how many mushrooms usually survive in Southern Ontario in
 December??!!

                                     :o)

Just for fun, I added this furry little Caterpillar, that I captured in June at the cottage. He was crawling up the back of my outdoor wooden rocking chair...      I have never seen one like this before...love the red dots...at the front or back???

I guess  I better come up with a more interesting, exciting life...in order to keep you all coming back for another read...Maybe I should just make stuff up...yeah, that's it...I will be back tomorrow with an amazing, awesome made up story!!

Enjoy your Sunday...supposed to team rain tomorrow...I will be playing scrabble with my sister-in-law!!!

Have a few thrifty things to share later.....

                                      :o)

My Latest Thrift Shop Buys....

I collect so many different things, that I am almost guaranteed to fine ONE of them, whenever I go to the shops.

I have a "collection" of animals at the cottage...I must take a picture the next time I visit...When I saw this handsome dog, I had to have him...after all...he was only 50 cents. I also love glass candle sticks...there was only one of these......but for 25 cents...who could pass it up!!! I also have several pieces of the peach lustre ware...but I had never seen a covered casserole dish before....$2...

As I have noted before...I love to plant my annuals (and perennials) in baskets....because of their fragile nature, sometimes they only last a couple of seasons..so this was the year that I needed to replenish my stock....I got all 6 of these for $3....what a great deal that was...some of them are quite lovely...and they will look even more lovely with bright lush flowers in them....

I also love Pyrex...I still have a complete set, that I got as a wedding gift....but I always look for casseroles,bowls,etc...this one was spectacular!!! I had never seen yellow before, or this pattern....love it!!!   and a steal at $2!!!

I also love any kind of glass jug....this was particularly attractive...with the gold swirls, and the frosty yellow glass...wouldn't this look delish filled with Sangria???   with lemon, orange and lime slices!! Another steal at $3..

I especially like the shape of the handle....nice thick glass...

Don't they make a handsome pair???   I am totally thrilled with my latest purchases...

Hope you enjoyed seeing them...what kind of things do you like to collect???

I am still looking for a mirrored tray for my friend Leslie....the hunt continues...

                   Closing with 2 beautiful daisies....free!

                                             :o)

The Fog Has Lifted....How About Something Blue...

The day started out very gloomy, dark, damp, and foggy.
The temperature is up...but supposed to drop again this evening.

After  deciding to do a "blue" post today...I realized how hard it was going to be to find a lot of blue flowers!!  So...bear with me...and enjoy the trip...
Usually the "Scillia" is my first spring bloom. I inherited a few bunches from my sister, when she swapped me some day lilies...in my very early days of gardening.

But, I do have a few patches at the lake,as well....... I find them very cheery...when the rest of the garden, is just rolling over and yawning

Here...they are mixed in with a lonely crocus...unfortunately when I do a lot of transplanting, the tiny bulbs get uprooted by mistake...

Another spring favorite is the forget-me-nots...here they are pink and blue mixed together...love these little guys..

Love this pic of a broken pot......with a succulent..forget-me-nots.......ribbon grass......and some violets mixed in...
The forget-me-nots also come in white....I know, this is supposed to be a blue post....but throw me a bone...I am desperate for blue flowers!!

Are these violas blue or violet??? Guess I will have to do a purple post soon...

These are Lungwort...another spring bloom...kinda blue?

Forget-me-nots and violas together

Cranesbill Geraniums...another gift from my sister..

These Bachelor Buttons are at the lake...dug up and shared by one of my neighbours at home...don't you just love plant swapping??
This is where I grow my morning glories...at the lake..by the shed..and on an etagere...

And they can be truly spectacular...trouble is they only last one day...and I am not always there when they bloom!!   But..I was fortunate to get these shots...

Now we are talking BLUE!!! These delphiniums were glorious last summer at home......hopefully they will survive this weird winter weather, and prosper next summer..

The Balloon flower bud, is awesome.....actually looks like a balloon!!! Then opens to a lovely flower.....if deadheaded, will continue to flower into the Fall

In closing...how about the clear blue waters at the cottage...with the seagulls having a snack...

Hope this "blue" brightened your day...even a
                   little bit............
                                                       :o)
