What I Did Yesterday...

After getting the groceries done...and
putting them away [don't you just hate putting them away??? always having to make room for the new stuff..] I decided to have some lunch, how about a couple of poached eggs on a toasted english muffin...with plenty of cracked pepper....deeeelish...and so healthy!!!  before venturing out to the back yard...
to get some baskets and pots done...

Got the wheelbarrow out...
Annuals ready...
Added Miracle Gro to a nice mixture of compost and manure..
Shovel...
Gloves...
And an extra big pot, to mix up the soil
concoction in...

Ready....set.....go....

Got a few vines this year to add...and one purple verbenum...and the maroon spikey things...not sure what they are called...

After several hours....this is some of what I got accomplished...sticking with mostly geraniums, impatience and wax begonias...used my Spike that I had overwintered twice now..so it is getting nice  and tropical looking. And now that I have repotted it, with fresh soil, I am hoping it will take a big growth spurt this season..

Added this thrift shop Mirror...cost me $2...I like the way it reflects the yard...better than looking at a wall...I have quite a few mirrors scattered about. and I quite like the effect it gives...almost like a "window" in the fence etc...

My other Spike is still in its giant milk jug...I think I will just leave her in there, but top her up with some fresh soil and maybe a few annuals in the top...

This Dove was acting very shy....scurrying away...whereas Mr Blue Jay was getting peanuts from the table right beside me....so Brazen....

The pictures are a little pale, as it was late afternoon, and the sun was very bright....NOT LIKE TODAY...but I know we really do need the rain...here and at the cottage...

The Finches this year are so plentiful...boy they love that Nyger seed...and the squirrels don't....a good thing!!!

Today is really rainy...
Going to stick close to home...
Got the sheets changed..
Put some laundry in...
Chicken soup on the stove...

Going to make Ribs and Onion soup potatoes for dinner...asparagus...and probably tomatoes, avacado and goats cheese salad....
and perhaps a nice dry Merlot.....mmmmm...merlot...:o)

Closing with a shot of one my Miscanthus in full plume....
I KNOW they can use this rain....I will see them soon...:o)

Have a great day.....what is on your agenda????

                        Cheers!                   :o)

  1. Good thing you got the gardening done yesterday as it is pouring today. We really need the rain as everything is so dry. It's a perfect day for reading a new knitting book that arrived in the mail today.

  4. What a great idea - solar lights in your planter! I'm going to do that right now.
