I Just Love This Painting.....

On one of our Thrifty visits, I had noticed this painting of a bunch of Daisies...

For whatever reason...

I did not take it home with me...

We were in the same shop last Thursday...on our trip to the Lake...and I was surprised to see that it was still there...

Usually when something catches my eye....and I don't take it home...it is NOT there when I visit again...

I was really pleased to see her again...:o)

SO....

This time...

There was no leaving her behind...

The thing that most touched me abuot this painting....well...ONE of the things... was the handwritten note on the back...

It makes my heart happy to give this sweet Oil Painting a new home...with a new admirer...ME...:o)

I was instantly drawn to the soft pale colors....

The visible brush strokes...

I have secretly always wanted to paint flowers....[now my secret is out]

I mostly love water colors...

My boyfriend even bought me a little art kit one Christmas...[what a doll]

It had a few canvasses...brushes...acrylic paints...even a little board to mix the colors on...

I had done Folk  Painting years ago...and thoroughtly enjoyed that...

And I treasure the pieces I painted...as I knew the hours I had put in...

But....they were from a pattern...

I always wanted to be able to express what I saw...bring it to life...

But....

Alas....

It wasn't meant to be...I was not any good at it...:o(

But...

Perhaps...

I was using the wrong medium...

Perhaps I should try again..

Perhaps I shall......  If I do...I hope I am 1/2 as good as M Pitts....Cheers!

Here is the handwritten note on the back of the painting...

Kinda brings a tear to my eye...but at the same time...

Glad that I am able to enjoy her work...and it cost me 5 whole dollars!!!

I have hung it up here in my computer room...where I can see it everytime I am up here...

And to dream........that I could paint like that ..

Exactly the style I wish for myself....

Loose....carefree....soft... pastel...crude in a way...but so much expression...

I wonder if she used a real bouquet as  her subject...

Or just painted from memory....

This is my kind of art work....I just get lost in it's simplicity....

Hope you are all having a great day...sunny here...cold...

On the Menu tonight....Panko crusted baked Halibut..

                     Homemade Tartar Sauce...[easy peasey]

Homemade Fried Rice...with fresh mushroom, celery and gr onion.

Oven baked Zucchini with Parmesan Cheese...

                             Tomatoes and Avacadoes...

No need to add a floral picture today...

I hope you enjoy the painting as much as I do....

           Do you paint????

              Have you ever wanted to???

                    Share your inner thoughts...

                            Cheers!  :o)

and YES!!! you should paint. you don't paint for anyone but yourself. your own happy soul. who cares what it looks like - if it pleases you and gives you pleasure creating it! look at all the varied styles of the myriad of artists!
there is no right or wrong way i think.
unless maybe if you paint elvis on velvet. bleh.
LOL. and even that statement will offend somebody! LOL.
have FUN! i think you should paint. you know you want to. and you're very creative.

  2. That is a beautiful painting. Daisies are my favourite. I have a daisy painting that my mother in law did for me many years ago, and it hangs in my computer room. I think that most of the paintings in our house were painted by her. She didn't start painting till she was retired and took some lessons to pass away those cold winter days. We love all of them and each have a special memory.

Love the cottage in your new header. You have been having fun with camera and photos, haven't you?

  3. I have done decorative painting, the kind where one uses a pattern, usually someone else's, but once I painted a ship from one of my dad's drawings. I've never tried oils (aside from those paint by number kits when I was a kid), but my grandma and her sisters painted. And I have a friend whose husband is on the list of American painters. He has some pretty cool stuff.

  6. Hi Linda
Your blog header is stunning, do share how to do it so that I can enhance my blog. You have a stylish eye for finding those bargains and thrifty buy's. Great to find a treasure to re-home. Things find me, just won't let go of my eye's until I buy them and take them home.
Lovely purchase with a true sentimental message. Those are things that one can't really buy. It found you for a reason. X
