It Just Gets Better & Better.....

You have often read about our Beach Deck at the cottage....We had it built around 6 years ago....The lawn used to drop down a bit at the end...and we were unable to take full advantage of our large lawn near the beach...It is also great to catch the late day sunsets from this vantage point... These photos are from then...6 years ago...our handyman built it in February of that year, as there was no snow...I designed it...with the pattern you see...It was like a dream come true for us....we could be so much closer to the water...AND enjoy all of the warmth from the sun....

We use the beach deck all the time...

For our cute little firepit....

To grow beautiful baskets of flowers...

To sit in the Spring...bundled up...in the warm sun...

And in the Fall...enjoying the sunshine...

In the heat of the day.....under one of the umbrellas...

A few shots of the beach deck to follow....

And then the big..........

                             TA DA!!!!

When our family comes out on the long weekends...we were finding the deck was getting kind of crowded...what with chairs, tables....DOGS....etc...so...

I asked Lloyd [aka handyman] to expand the current deck...backwards...onto the lawn...and actually into some shade....

I have some large Miscanthus grasses there, and we used them as our guidelines...

This will be EXCELLENT for our loungers and perhaps even a small dining table....

Doesn't this look

         AWESOME!!!!!

Just what I had in mind....he actually added an extra 8x14...and if you
add the step in...it adds 10x14feet.....

So excited....and when I get my hand on the beds around it...

It will feel like it was there forever...

Almost made me forget about the sunporch for a minute...

                              I did say "almost'...

You can see Dustin in the background there...

                               Working like a little beaver...:o)

I took this shot from upstairs....you can get a better idea of how big it is..

Oh....I can't wait to get myself out there..

             In a chair....toes out....having a tool call one...with my boyfriend of course!!

                 FANNNNNNNNTASTIC!!!!

I will take you along on the planting process next Spring
                            and Summer....

                      I can't wait!!!!tee hee hee...I am as giddy as a school girl.....

Okay...back to business...

On the menu for this Fabulous Friday...

       Homemade Pork/Beef Tourtiere...

Seasoned with Sage and Cinnamon...very yummy...trust me...

            Crispy roasted potatoes and carrots...

Brown gravy....and of course...a side salad...and some Merlot!!!!

Hope you are all enjoying your day...

Had a snowfall last night....kinda pretty...you notice I said "kinda"

Driving to the cottage tomorrow...check on the deck progress...

                Fingers crossed....

Enjoy your evening...whatever you have planned...

I am soooooo excited about the deck!!!!

                     Cheers!  :o)

  4. Oh how wonderful Linda!!! There is something about being on the water, and for me, and my Greg, it is the lakes we love. Oh to have a home like that, right on the water, would be so divine!!! When we are out on the dock, enjoying the sunset, with a tool call one, say, it is time to go "shake a tower" instead of take a shower!!

  6. cc girl . . .
did you ever see the old ~ now classic ~ movie "picnic" with william holden and kim novak? there was a scene it it that i love to see again and again . . .
when it was nighttime - there was a simple string of colored lanterns around it - they danced together on the deck near the water. so romantically beautiful.
the song ~ remember it? "moonglow."
what a wonderful place it will be to dance with your boyfriend this summer! :)
