Johnson's Blue Cranesbill Geranium.....

One of my perennials that I always look forward to every year...

Is the Johnson's Blue Cranesbill Geranium...

I have a very large patch of them here in the back garden, and they never fail to impress me...

At the cottage, I have them scattered thruout the many beds, and there is always that tiny Blue glow coming from their blooms...

In the Fall, I chop them right down to the ground, and they come back bigger, better and more ferocious every year...

After their 3-4 week bloom, I deadhead them...

I find my hand grass clippers is the quickest and most effective way to do this...

And...

Lo and Behold...

In the latter part of Summer...

I get another flush of blooms, that last well into the Fall...

Here is my large patch poolside...

I love when it drapes ever so slightly over the concrete...

And also on the plus side...

The foliage is very attractive...

Never wilts...

Drought tolerant....

Very low maintenance...

You can tell...

I LOVE my Johnson's Blue Cranesbill Geranium...

The next photo...

And there is only one...

Is another favorite...

And they are EVERYWHERE here at home...and at the cottage...

SOOOOO easy to propagate...and a lovely pink bloom...

These are my Woodland Geraniums...

I have shared them with so many other gardeners, that I can't count!!

These are just about ready to bloom....so...the rest of this post...

Will be dedicated to the already blooming Blue Geraniums...

Enjoy!!

Of course...

My annual Geraniums are also a big favorite...

I like to bring a few in  to over-winter in the house...

This was one I brought in last Fall...and it bloomed in early December...

How fabulous is that!!??

I have moved her and her friends back outside...

To enjoy another joyous season on the back deck...

Hope you all had a great day...sunny and breezy here...

Temps to drop AGAIN tonight...

All that rain...and the Tornado NE of Toronto, are all remnants of the hideous

      Tornado that struck Oklahoma...

GO AWAY!!!   We don't want to play anymore!!!

  1. The cranesbill looks really pretty and lush in your gardens Linda. I've never had that plant before. I always buy annual geraniums though as they bloom so long and grow well. It was cloudy all day here but heavy rains are coming tonight. No sun showing until Wednesday now. So depressing. ;(

  5. I needed someone who knew flowers several years back to tell me what exactly I had in my gardens. I have some geranium-like plants in my garden too, but they pink. I like them better now than when we first moved here, but I have never cut them down to the ground in the fall.

I fear my Gooseneck Loosestrife maybe have been lost in the effort to minimize garden efforts. It's hard to keep up with perennials and a houseful of little ones. The violas are still waiting behind the barn and it's too cold and wet for me to think about going out there today.

    1. I only chop back the Cranesbill..not the pink Woodlands...
The violas will wait...and the gooseneck, I find, are later this year...so perhaps they will still appear...they have an extensive root system!
      Enjoy your long weekend!!!

  6. I have lots of woodland geraniums ( I thought they were called perennial geraniums, though perhaps they are called both) and they are fantastic. Grow no matter what the weather, the water or whether you look at them (my kind of plant!)
When or when will I get to see Sweet Cheeks again?
