If Only I Hadn't Run Out Of Wool....

If only I hadn't run out of wool...

And...

If only the Wal-MArt closest to me...

Didn't SUCK!!!

I guess the people who frequent THAT store...

Are neither crocheters not knitters...as...

Their selection of wools is PITIFUL!!!

I would have been finished this project by now!!!

I will have to go further...to another Wal-Mart...

To get another BIG ball of this stuff that I love!!

I may get an accent color, to do a fancy edging all around...

It is an Afghan...

A Christmas gift...

Started early...

As...

I have a few projects I would like to complete...

Funny....how the color of the wool changes in these shots...

Must be the Sun in some...and shadows in others...

In any case..

I am happy with my progress so far...

Easy peasy...

Double crochet...alternate every other row, by going in the back loop only...

Gives a very nice look...I have used this several times...

Thanks to my buddy Linda @ White Weathered Hutch...{sidebar}....

But...

Before I start any more crocheting...

I must make freezer jam with this basket of peaches...

Got the freezer jam mix...

Ready to go!!!

Perhaps tomorrow!!!

Now, I sound like Scarlett again! ha!

                                                              ************

Hope you all had a great day...

The weather here is glorious...sunny and warm...

Get me to the cottage!!!!

                                         ************

On the menu tonight...

Pepper steak with green peppers, green onions and tomatoes...

                  Served over no-yolk noodles!!

                     Greek Salad on the side...

Enjoy the rest of your day...

I had a lovely visit with my friend D...

Tea and chit chat....wonderful!!

                                  Cheers!  :o)

  2. Linda, the afghan looks lovely, the colour is beautiful as you can really see the texture that you have created. You are a clever bean!! Only 2 more sleeps until cottage time!! Have fun with the jam making - we expect to see the results you know... Amy xx

    3. Geeesh...what is his problem, anyway?!
Give him some chores to do! That will keep him quiet! ha!

  3. If you have to go further that means you have an excuse to stock up which means more wool!

  4. That looks like it will be a very warm and cozy afghan when it's finished, Linda. It was a gorgeous day here too. May it continue. :)

  5. Oh, Miss Scarlett! Haha. The blanket is looking great so far. The Walmarts here don't have much yarn either; it's always very picked-over, even what they do have. I hope you don't have to go too far to get more wool. Peach jam sounds pretty delicious to me!

  6. Wow that's coming along nicely. Don't you just love that stitch. I get so annoyed with myself when I run out as well. It's not just your walmart but the one closest to us is the same. Need to go to the Super Store for the best selection. Thanks for the shout out!! I'm working on socks.... Just as I said working....

  7. Very pretty! I am a new and amateur crocheter. I am working on my second blanket. The first was red and done in single stitch, the second is "cilantro" and done in double stitch. Maybe I'll try something a little fancier next time. Want to give me lessons? :)

    1. Absolutely...when we have lunch, I'll give you a quick lesson!
There are lots of YouTube videos that really help...
I hadn't done any crochet for 30 years, and used a lot of the videos as a refresher...
How about a post on your progress?

    2. My mom has crocheted some beautiful afghans but I'm afraid she doesn't really have the know how anymore. I've been watching Youtube videos when I want a quick lesson. Yes, lunch and a lesson from Linda. That sounds perfect!

  13. Nice blanket Linda. Marion just finished crocheting a blanket 90X96. I don't know what kind of stitch she used but she also ran out of yarn and Walmart didn't have the colors she needed either. Thankfully, JoAnne's did.

Thanks for sharing, Linda...Enjoy your day:)

  14. I think it is pitiful that you have to rely on Walmart for your wool. Sheesh, there must some other place! I think we should take a trip out to that store in Kitchener, mentioned by Country Gal. What do you say?
I hope the person you are making the afghan for doesn't read your blog!
