  1. Jolly Jum-ups are so darn cute. I love them. Your yard has really come to life. It's wonderful to finally see all this new growth. I love walking the dog now and seeing what is growing on everyone's property. Regarding your daughter's cat...I would need to know a little more about the cat but it sounds so far like she has a behaviour problem and needs to be kept in a smaller area of the house for awhile with a litter box of her own. If your daughter wants to email me I can try to help her with this issue. One of my clients cats was doing much the same and I got her to set up an area for the cat to live for two weeks. Food, litter, toys, window seats, radio on CBC *grin* and lots of visits from the owners throughout the day and evening. The cat was not allowed in the rest of the house and after two weeks of using the box in it's own area was then allowed out of the area supervised in the evening when the people were home. Then if she did well for a few evenings with no 'issues' she was allowed full use of the house again. The cat did stop pooping inappropriately and did get back on track using the shared litter boxes. The idea, Linda, is to have them earn their way back into living in the WHOLE house. I don't have any idea why or when this started but I do feel confident that this is worth trying.

  3. Ligularia ? I have them coming up all over the place, at the edge of some beds and here and there. I thought they were weeds and cut some but then figured I would get them when the man who rides the lawnmower comes to visit :) I am glad to know now that I should not cut them !
I put out new feeders and they are lining up for seed out there ! Finches, goldfinches, Mrs and Mrs Cardinal, little tiny things, ordinary little sparrows, noisy birds, quiet birds .. I have a book that I got as a gift so I could figure out what's out there .. its fun in the morning, having my first cup of coffee and trying to identify the birds :)

  4. I need to plant some lilies of the valley this year (I know they spread a LOT but they are soooo pretty and smell so nice). Hubby rototilled the back and side yards and they are fertilized and seeded so hopefully we'll have nice grass from here on out. There is one hill that needs to be planted (because it's too steep to mow) and I'll have to investigate ground covers ... something that doesn't attract too many spiders (ECK!!). Question on my African violets (house residents). When the blooms are dead do you just pinch them off or do you use an actual scissors to snip them? I seem to be doing a little more damage than I expected when I pinch. Obviously a novice house plant person .... ;-) Linda

    1. Hi Linda...better to use scissors...I always find I take more than I wanted to, when I just use my fingers....hahaha!
Periwinkle is an excellent ground cover...pretty blue flowers!
When are you getting your blog up and running?

  6. Love all the plants and flowers but perhaps the shot that grabbed me most was the detail captured on the afternoon moon.

  8. Hi Linda... Is creeping Jenny the wife of my creeping Charlie? Love all the new life springing up all over. Just a reminder that just below the surface...there are good things ready to bust out. Feel rested up and back in the kitchen. Chicken Thighs, black eyed peas (from my cousin's garden) and cornbread and garden salad. Sending Hugs and Smiles.

  9. Finally a lovely day to enjoy outside ... and it actually felt warm!! Got lots done in the garden including getting the garden workbench moved back outside. It got put in the garage when the new deck was put on last year and we just never got around to moving it back. The kitchen reno is in the demolition stage, messy but will so be worth it. I'm taking photos to document it.
