The Latest In Thrifty Buys.....

I used to do regular posts on my Thrift Shopping...

Seems the last thing I posted was the fabulous kitchen/oven we purchased for Miss V...

These few things, are from the Fall...
I just never got around to posting about them...

This lovely bowl, was 75 cents...
I found similar ones...on the internet...from the Swinnertons collection...selling for $15... Very retro pattern...from the '50's...perfect for a salad...

Wee Jack Daniels glass is perfect for our toothbrushes at the cottage!   25 cents..

It is very thick and heavy...did not look this one up!

The rust stain came out with CLR...

Good as new!

The Black Scotty S&P shakers were 25 cents each...

Very dirty...cleaned up beautifully...

On the internet for $15!!

Aren't they adorable?  My friend Devon would love these....♥️

Have a few of these figures at the cottage...not sure what they are called...

The metal tin with handle now holds Miss V's treasures that she finds on the beach...and some beach glass!

A lot of the handled tins sell for $5...

I paid $1...not sure how much the girl was!!  She will join her friends on the sunporch next summer!!

This next purchase was $1...

Stacking vintage Aluminum Canisters...

Including the salt and pepper...

When I found these on the internet...they were listed at $35-$40...

With no salt and pepper!! When I took this photo, I had not really cleaned them up yet...they look even better now!! So cool.....

Another $1 purchase...

Celery tray...on the internet for $13!!

It is currently in use here at home...on the dining room table, with my candle sticks and Bunny vase on it!

This one  blew me away...as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it!!

My parents had 2 oil paintings of "The Hunters"...I remember it so well...

I do believe my brother has them now...

This Tea Caddy was really pricey....$5!!!

Made for Twining Teas...

On the internet...$40...

This piece is on my sidetable in the dining room right now...but...I do think it would be a nice gift for my daughter, who is also into collecting beautiful pieces!!

This one was a real surprise to me!

I am always looking for glass casserole dishes with lids...I had never seen this golden glass before!!

Turns out, it is called Mexican vaseline glass...sells for $12...I paid $2!!

Love the shape of this one!!
This milk glass divided relish dish...was $1...selling for $12...

Mine has the golden edge worn off...

But will be well used at family get togethers!

And...of course...the best $5 ever!!!!!

We brought it home from the cottage last week...after I found a bag of "food" at the thrift shop...for $1...

She loves it!! Had a ball yesterday playing and cooking up a storm!!

Made me a hot dog...fried egg...and a cupcake!!

Loves putting everything in the oven to cook!!

PHEW!!! That was a long post!!

Hope you enjoyed my Thriftys!!

You all having a great day???  Very dark and uneventful here today...

Got out to Michaels again...the yarn I purchased for my beachy afghan was on buy one...get one free!!! Picked up a few more balls...and added another colour!! Sure hope I have enough...I have 20 balls...100 grams each...you crocheters out there...sound like enough for a large afghan????
it will be my project while away...won't be long now...:o)

I picked up a lovely piece of Cod...he is soaking in some buttermilk right now...
Will drench him in Panko crumbs and bake him...along with some homemade Yam fries....fresh bok choy...green beans and a loaded spinach salad...

Hope you all have a great evening...

                       Cheers!  :o)

  7. WOW ! awesome thrift finds ! First thing that went through my mind when I saw the hunters & hounds on the canister was the paintings mum and dad had of them , painted by a famous British artist from the 1800s. Wonderful photos . Miss V is growing like a weed ! Thanks for sharing , have a good day !

  9. I LOVE your thrifty buys, and can't believe the low prices. I would have had the little terriers, the Irish dish, the hunters, the milk glass place - in a heartbeat! Our thrift stores are much too expensive, imo. How gorgeous to see Miss V with her pink stove - and the plastic food. I bought a heap of that for my grandsons, and they love to play cooking too. Teach 'em young, I say.

  10. I am thinking about checking out a few neighborhood garage sales once the weather warms up again. I will be on the lookout for stocking stuffers. I want something in the stockings next Christmas that isn't food. Maybe I will check out some thrifty store between now and then too. Sometimes I find something wonderful for a really great price.

I've never heard of Mexican Vaseline glass! Who knew? Not even this auction goer! haha.

  12. I never really check out thrifty stores, but years ago, we used to have fun at U.S. antique auctions. I love the little metal tin with handles for Miss V.'s treasures and the little girl figures. And of course, her kitchen. Your dinner sounds yummy, finally took your suggestion and bought a Costco BBQ chicken. Easy dinner with tossed salad after sitting in 401 traffic, returning home from having lunch with T.O. friends. Take care...

  13. I think you did really well with the thrifting Linda. Everything is very nice and great prices. I've been going through my 'stuff' and have it boxed up to 'give away' to the Hospice Store in town. Some of it is worth $$$ but no one wants it so what am I to do?? At least it goes to a good cause. I has one aqua satin finish rose bowl packed to go and kept thinking about it and dug it out again. LOL Can't give it away just yet! Hope you have a lovely weekend. The storm is by-passing us so it will be nice and sunny and cold.

I have one small one that is perfect for two, and always on the look out for more. I remember the old corning ware ones with lids.
You dinner sounds so good. I stuck a pork roast in the oven with carrots and potatoes and onions...just in the mood for a Sunday Dinner on Thursday. My dearest didn't mind.
Hve a geat day...you have me in the mood to hit the thrift shops tomorrow.
