Part 1...Trip To The Flower Shop To Buy Some Seeds....

Last week...I had promised Miss V that we would go and pick out some seeds, and plant them at my house...inside!

On our way to Mississauga Greenhouses...or as Miss V likes to call it...
"The Flower Store"...
I suggested Sunflower and Pumpkin seeds...
She agreed that these were great choices...

Once we were inside, it was easy to find the area where the seeds were!!
I have been going to this fabulous greenhouse for over 35 years...
It carries everything you could imagine for your gardening/flower needs...
It is open year round...and also features seasonal items...pots...houseplants...
Christmas trees etc...and of course Perennials all summer...
Bountiful beautiful prepared baskets...potting needs...stones...mulch...soil...shrubs...cut flowers...potted plants...and a wonderful walk-in cooler...to pick exactly what you need!
Anyway...enough gushing...obviously I love this place!

My daughter Erika...is in the floral industry...she worked at The Greenhouse, as a part-time worker...later to become fulltime...and was encouraged by the owners wife, to explore Floral Design...
She took a course at the local college...and started her career as a Floral Designer!
She has worked at various High End Floral Shops...and at a Fabulous Design Store...after years of design...she is enjoying being in the selling end of fresh flowers, and truly enjoys her work at an Importer of Fresh Flowers...
Now you know the story of The Flower Lady...and why she is always so generous with her old Mom!!

It always lifts my spirits visiting here...

Especially in the Winter...lovely to see all the fresh plants and flowers...

You can see that Miss V is clutching her seed packets...while taking in every inch of the gorgeous building...

There are even Birds for everyone to enjoy...

But...as she let me know...

"Can we go now Nana?"

"We need to plant our seeds and have lunch!"

"Of course we do sweetie...let's go"...♥️

And...

"I need to try out that new mop that you bought me"

"Yes...right after I fix your hair, with a pretty barrette"...

Tee hee hee.....
I purchased these mini-greenhouse peat planters at the $ store...

Perfect for the wee ones!

As per the instructions...we soaked the peat with water...

They very soon puffed up...and were ready to be planted!

New gardening gloves...not really needed...and waaay too big!

She is such a good sport...humouring her old Nana ♥️

I helped to push the seeds in deeply...

All tucked in...labelled...high hopes...to be continued..................

Hope you are all having a great week so far...

It has flown by here...and the weather is co-operating!

Wall to wall sunshine...temps climbing...looks like a cottage weekend..for sure!

             Enjoy your Thursday...

                We are off to Costco...

                   Cheers!   :o)

                          linda ♥️

  13. Wow, we always pass by these greenhouses, but have never shopped there. So, thanks for posting the lovely indoor photos, my BF and I will check it out. It was nice to catch up with girlfriends at dinner in North York, but the traffic getting there is so stressful! Have fun at the cottage, especially Sunday with Miss V. :)

  16. A great post Linda. That is an awesome flower shop, and Miss V is enjoying it immensely. I am not surprised your daughter is into flowers as a business, she takes after her talented Mum. The little peat planters are interesting; I have never seen them here. btw, did I ever tell you my new DIL-to-be has the same name as Miss V? It is a very nice name :)

  17. What a perfect way to get her started on a love of gardening! I worked in a greenhouse (MUCH smaller in scale) as a job between school years once and that's what started me (as well as watching my mom). I was even taking cuttings of various shrubs, planting seeding trays, and dragged hoses probably hundreds of miles. I still love the smell of a greenhouse. -Jenn
