Rose Of Sharon......

 One of the flowering shrubs, that I really look forward to...is...

the Rose of Sharon...

A very common shrub...I do believe that almost everyone has one in their garden...

I have 2 very large ones...that are both Pink...but to my surprise...

A new shrub has finally flowered this week...

It grew from seeds from the other shrubs...but...it is different...

It has 3 different coloured flowers on the same bush ♥️

A deep burgundy...a white with a deep pink throat...and...the best of all...

A pure white flower...BEAUTIFUL!!!

All on one bush! Hey...am I a gardener, or what? hahaha!!!

I will try and get a photo with all 3 colours in bloom at once!

Award winning!!

I have a few of the pink at the cottage...and one white one there too...

Did not notice any buds last weekend, but with this darn heat, perhaps there will be some blooms when I get back down there!!

They send up lots of volunteers, and I plan on taking more down to the cottage this fall...lots of room out there for more shrubs....especially these beautiful

                                    Rose of Sharon.....

                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope you are all having a great week so far...
Miss V and I spent 2 hours in the pool today!! We were pruney! hahaha!!
She really loves the water...and even put her face in today for Papa!!
Not sure if we are heading to the lake tomorrow or Friday am...
Another long weekend for us here...kids coming out on Saturday..YAY!!
I think I will go with the gluten free veggie lasagnas again...
They were a hit last time...and not really  that difficult for me to make up the day before...
If I don't go to the lake tomorrow...I will try and get another post in...
So many photos!!! So little time!!!
Enjoy your evening my friends...
                         Cheers!   :o)
                             linda ♥️
  3. I never had a Rose of Sharon until I moved to the lake. Mine are the deep pink color. Your white one is beautiful! Do you prune yours back or let them get tall?
    1. I cut mine back right after it is finished blooming, as it sets its flowers for the next year...
      I am pretty brutal with them, as I like them bushy! I also like when the trunk is bare, and just leafy on top!
      Hope you are enjoying Colorado!
  5. Your Rose of Sharon is beautiful, and multi colours on one bush is amazing. I saw my first Sharons last year in Vancouver, and loved them. I have never seen them here. Yay for Miss V - face in the water. I hate doing that :)
  8. Whenever I see the name "Rose of Sharon," I think of the teenage pregnant Joad daughter in The Grapes of Wrath, because that was her name. Except, being Okies, they pronounced it "Rosasharn." So sad -- her name was the only beautiful thing about her life in the Depression.
  9. I only ever had one Rose of Sharon, and it took a long time for it to bloom. Maybe my soil just wasn't right. Yours are beautiful and that's neat that you ended up with a "volunteer" one, too. It's definitely pool weather, for sure. -Jenn
    and
    the Rose of Sharon in this post took me straight back to my beloved gram's garden. so beautiful.
  15. Love your new Inukshuk banner. No Rose of Sharon in our garden, but our neighbour has one. Yours is very lovely! Have a lovely weekend at the cottage, nice that your kids will be there. My SIL is here from Montreal, taking her to Stratford tomorrow. Take care and enjoy. :)
    2. Thanks for your kind offer. DJC thanks you but says that he doesn't have room in our garden. But he's planning to ask if they're interested at the Rhodo Gardens on the Lakeshore, that's where he volunteers a few times a week. Happy Lord Simcoe Day! :)
  17. Beautiful! I just looked it up and found that Rose of Sharon is also Hibiscus. That's how much of a non-gardener I am! We can actually grow it here, but I have never seen it with blooms of different color on one bush. Amazing! But you are such a nurturer we should not be surprised. So nice to have a visit from you!
  18. Hi Linda, gosh, somehow I missed this post and now I am so late in commenting! I love Rose of Sharon, but I don't have any growing here. They sell out so fast in springtime that I am always missing them at my favorite nursery. I really need to find some.....I think your 3-color one must be something very special, too. Hope your weather has cooled down some :) Fun to go swimming with your sweet Miss V! xo Karen
