Last Tuesday was the first trip to the cottage since early February...
Nothing much had changed! The Lake had not frozen this year...so the beach was wide open to everything Mother Nature could throw at her!!
We have several new LOGS...It will be interesting to see if they last, or get taken out by a Spring storm.
Lots of branches and twigs for the boyfriend to gather...the winds have been extra gusty this year.
Everything inside is perfect!!
Before leaving...we left the furnace on at 50f...just to take the chill off the old girl.
We will be turning the water on next week...plug in the fridge...vaccuum...put some fresh clean linens on the bed...and we will be in business!!
Well...sorta...lots of clean up in the gardens...where do the leaves come from, after you rake for weeks in the Fall?????
Our large Miscanthus grasses, also need to be cut down...such a hideous job, but, with a wonderful reward later in the year.
It certainly didn't look or feel like Spring when we were there...
A mere 4*c...with a brisk wind...brrrr.....
I did notice quite a few Daffodils poking thru, so perhaps on my next visit, I can gather a few prettier pics to share!!
I did mange to find a few pretty shells on the beach...
And 2 big pieces of beach pottery...no beach glass this trip...next time!!
We stopped at one of our fav Thrift Shops, as I had a HUGE bag to donate...
I found these 3 wee pieces...
The Wooden Painted bowl,is straight from the 50's...I remember my parents had one!! It is marked JAPAN on the bottom...
I think my Son will love this, and the Vintage juice glass...
I will keep the white Hobnail tealite holder for myself!!!
I spent $1.50 for all 3!!
The view as we left the cottage...I always love the way this point looks, with the sun on the Lake....
I managed to get a few Barn pics on the way home...it is getting harder to NOT get any Wind Turbines in the shots!!!
I hope you are all well....and enjoying Spring weather where you live!!
Or Autumn...as a few of my peeps are enjoying right now!!
No cottage trip this Friday...lousy weather predicted...and my son is stopping by!!! have not seen him since before we left on our vacation. I have a new "cat mat" made for his cat Buddy...hope he likes it!!
I am working finishing up another Granny Square afghan...will share soon!!
I also got Miss V to pose in her cardigan that I made for her...
I will save that for another post...it is a looong story! hahaha!
Unless you follow me on IG, then you have already seen it there.
Have a wonderful weekend...
We are in store for some wet weather here in Southern Ontario...
I know...I know...good for the plants! hahaha!!
Making fall-off-the-bone Ribs for dinner...yummy!!
Cheers! :o)
linda ♥️
Okay...here we go...another bunch of Bits & Bobs from the past few weeks...
We had taken Miss V for lunch, last time we visited the cottage. There is an old Diner in one of the towns close by...she really got a kick out of the stools and retro decor...
The Succulent platter I made for my son, is still going strong! I still have it here at home, as when he was last here...Christmas...we thought it too chilly to transport it that day...I am taking excellent care of her!
Off topic here...but...I think this Summer, I am really going to get into some serious Succulent plantings...They just make me smile...and... this...is ...a ....very... good thing!!
Don't you agree??
I don't know what I would do without Strawberries in my diet!! I think I go thru at least 3 containers a week!!
I always pair them with whatever Berry is on sale that week!! The Blueberries have been so plump and juicy the last few weeks...Love them for breakfast with some Greek Yogurt!!
Must make a Blueberry Breakfast Cake very soon!!
I also consume a LOT of other fresh fruits...nothing better!!
Except of course....my downfall in the evenings...chips...enough said!!
Our cottage drives, always encourage me to take lots of photos while in the car...there is something about barns and farms that really excite me!! Some of them are just so beautiful to look at...you just know that somebody takes great pride in their property...and it really stands out!
Oh yes...Miss V and I made a wee Snowman a few weeks back...isn't he adorable??
Unfortunately the next morning he was melted...
Soup has been on the stove every week around here...this is my favorite. Skinny beef/veg/barley...I freeze half...and I usually eat the whole pot myself!! Great for lunches...The boyfriend devoured my ham/split pea...delish!!
More gorgeous farms...the bottom one almost looks like Summer...the grass is so green...beautiful!!
Another of my thrifty buys....for Miss V....this sweet Elephant...$1...just like brand new...well...actually, it still had the tags on it!!
I have left it at the cottage, and she will be so surprised to see him when we take her for a visit again!!
And just look at that green grass down at the cottage...
Such a mild Winter for us here in Southern Ontario...
This week has been rain...no snow at all!!
The Lake was more frozen last week...near the shore...but still wide open from there...very unusual for this time of year...
On the way home, we passed by this Handsome guy...
I actually got out of the car to take this picture...he came right up to the fence to meet me...
I must remember to take a few apples next trip!!
And when we got home, my potted Hyacinth bulb had opened up in the afternoon sun..
Gorgeous!!
My Winter arrangement is still looking gorgeous on the front steps...
I will save all those pretty sticks and things for next year...
I usually make my own arrangements, but my daughter gifted me this one this year....
And...
It looks beautiful!
My post would not be complete, without my monthly Moon shot.
I took this the other night...it has been so cloudy since then, that I have not seen it again. Not even sure if it has gone yet. Love love love the Moon♥️
Hope that you are all well...and not recovering from any Ice Storms...we have been very lucky here...just rain.
Temps on the rise again for the rest of the week...
I have been doing my fitness thing...enjoying that a lot...gets me out of the house!! And the boyfriend and I are walking when weather permits. I am exceeding my 10,000 steps every day so far...YIPPEE for me...hahaha!
Dinner tonight is beef stew, that has been simmering since this morning. We had Roast Beef last night, so I used the leftovers to make stew. I think we will have a Greek Salad too...and perhaps a toasted Parmesan cheese bun...
Oh my...I am getting hungry! I better get off this computer, and go and get things organized!!
Thanks for all your lovely comments...greatly appreciated...
Have a great week my friends...
Cheers! :o)

These pics are from last Friday, when we visited the cottage...
There was just a light dusting of snow...but the waves must have been wild, to coat the beach and seawalls in ice...
It was a bit sunny that day...with a West wind...chilly, but not too bad.
Normally, The Great Lakes would be frozen by now...but the weather has been so topsy turvy...
Bitter cold and then balmy temps...
The photo below, is from our Thrift shopping...I think I spent about $5 this day...Pretty extravagant,eh? hahaha!
The one thing that I looked up on the Internet, is the Football player planter there...It had the markings E.O.Brody Co on the bottom....with the original sticker and a #05074...I couldn't get anywhere with the #, but the wee Football player came up on Etsy...selling for $21...I paid 50 cents! I really think I have a good eye for things that are vintage...I thought he would look cute on the cottage sunporch, with a tiny plant in it!
This close-up gives you a better idea of what he looks like....
I know...kinda kooky, but that's the way I like it! hahaha!!!
On his back, is a place for a small plant....
Can't wait to see how he looks on the porch!!
I will leave you with a photo from the cottage...
Lush Hostas and Ferns...
Darling Screened Sun Porch...
Ahhhhhhhh....
I can hear the sweet wee Wrens singing right now...
Hope that you are all well...
The sun is shining today...colder temps...off we go for our weekly drive!!!!
Have a lovely happy weekend...
Cheers! :o)
linda ♥️
Last Thursday we took a drive out to the cottage, as we knew that we would be home here on the weekend.
It was so darn windy!!!
"How windy was it?" you ask...
80km winds!!!
That is pretty darn windy!!
you couldn't hear yourself think...
With the combo of the trees and the waves crashing in...
But...we managed to find a cosy spot to sit for a while, and enjoy the show!!
On our way...we stopped at one of our Thrifty shops...
I got this nice tin Tole painted candle holder...
It has already found a spot on my bedroom dresser at the cottage!!
I also picked up this Christmas plate for my son...I had already given him a Christmas Sled by the same pottery company...made in Japan...Hand painted...he loves anything vintage!!
My Miscanthus Grasses at the cottage are putting on a great show right now!
I will be cutting some to bring home, to decorate my yard for the Winter...
They add quite a nice statement...
Especially with lights on them...
I am happy!!! hahaha!!
Here at home, the afternoon Sunshine has been magical...
The weather has been unbelievable for this time of year...and the rest of the week is to be spectacular...up to 17c!!!
Way above normal...
I ain't complaining!!
Friday night was dinner for the birthday boy...
Rack of Lamb...with scallops as an appetizer...
OH MY....they were so delicious!!
We dined by candlelight!!
Saturday was the day the kids came over...Miss V wanted to put sprinkles on Papa's Pie!! No Problem!!
She also was very serious about eating her piece ♥️
My daughter Lissa brought me these cute little Christmas Gnomes...
Aren't they just so adorable?????
Let the decorating begin!!
I actually did my front today, as my other daughter Erika gifted me with a beautiful front Christmas Urn...just gorgeous! But...
I neglected to take a photo....really??? Yes....really!!
I will get on that tomorrow!
I also returned to Fitness this morning...it was so nice to see all the girls, and go for coffee afterwards...I really must stick with this...and I do believe I will!
*****************
Wasn't that SuperMoon something??? I got a lot of beautiful shots...don't think I'll be around for the nest one!! hahaha!
Hope that you are all well...and...enjoying this weather!!
Tonight is Fish night here...the Cod is soaking in Buttermilk as I type this...
Some nice fluffy rice...Parmesan Zucchini...and a Ceasar Salad to start...
One of my fitness gals said she loves to read about my meals on the blog...
Here you go Lauren!! hahaha!!
Have a great week...
Cheers!
