We usually take a drive once a week, to check on the cottage.
This visit was spectacular!!
Ice everywhere...
Except on the Lake!!
This was a few days after Christmas...
Everything looked spectacular!!
No wind...
Brilliant sunshine...
Beauty day.....
Our next visit was on January 4th...
Quite a difference...after all that frigid weather we had...
Boyfriend and I climbed up on the ice mountains...
No beach showing at all...just ice and snow...
Very surreal...quiet...gorgeous!!
We grabbed a selfie!!
Much colder this day...
Minus 15c!!!!
But...
Still brilliant sunshine...
Gotta love it!!
Fast forward to this past Thursday...
A lot of ice and snow had melted, as it was a balmy +12c!!!
Some stones are now showing, as the snow has receded...
And what a mess the waves left behind!!!
Green grass!!!
Stormy skies across the Lake...
We had tons of rain later that night...and into Friday morning...and then a blizzard blew thru!!
At home...not here...we don't stay over in the Winter anymore...
Too darn cold!!
We squeezed in a visit with our DIL and newest Granddaughterđź’•đź’•đź’•
Isn't she a doll???
So petite...getting stronger and doing very well...
The next picture is when her Papa was holding her! hahaha!!
He was telling her stories about her Daddy!!
And the bottom photo, she was fixated on something!
Managed to bake an Apple Pie Bread this week...
Very moist and delicious...
And Strawberries were on sale for $1.88 a container!!
And they were delicious too!!
I have been using up my stash of yarn, making a few "Cat Mats" for my kids cats...
They really do seem to love them!!
Need a project for my trip...cannot figure out what to make!!

We are back in the deep freeze here again...kooky weather everywhere...
How about that mudslide in California??? how scary was that??
Well...that's it for me...
Didn't see Miss V today...they are going to drop by on Sunday...
We have not seen her since Christmas!!! I need a Miss V fix! hahaha!!!

These pics are from last Friday,when we visited the cottage...
There was just a light dusting of snow...but the waves must have been wild, to coat the beach and seawalls in ice...
It was a bit sunny that day...with a West wind...chilly, but not too bad.
Normally, The Great Lakes would be frozen by now...but the weather has been so topsy turvy...
Bitter cold and then balmy temps...
The photo below, is from our Thrift shopping...I think I spent about $5 this day...Pretty extravagant,eh? hahaha!
The one thing that I looked up on the Internet, is the Football player planter there...It had the markings E.O.Brody Co on the bottom....with the original sticker and a #05074...I couldn't get anywhere with the #, but the wee Football player came up on Etsy...selling for $21...I paid 50 cents! I really think I have a good eye for things that are vintage...I thought he would look cute on the cottage sunporch, with a tiny plant in it!
This close-up gives you a better idea of what he looks like....
I know...kinda kooky, but that's the way I like it! hahaha!!!
On his back, is a place for a small plant....
Can't wait to see how he looks on the porch!!

It is such a feeling when you pull in...
Sometimes I totally get overcome by the feelings...
When you step out of the car...
You never know what sights will greet you...
As long as we take drives down there...
I will share the beauty with you...

There was a hazy sun...trying so hard to shine...
Not too cold...not much wind...
It actually felt colder INSIDE than outside!
So glad we got the water closed when we did...
Frozen plumbing is not funny.....AT ALL!
There is still no snow...
Just a wee bit of ice on the rocks on the beach...

Here is me...
Sporting my nice long scarf I made myself last year...
I love wearing scarves...
When we drive...I don't wear a coat...
I have several big chunky sweaters that I wear...
Paired usually with leggings...
But this day had me in black jeans...black chunky turtleneck...black strappy shoes...striped socks..(of course)...
Velvety leopard gloves...
And...my big cream crocheted scarf...
How is that for a look???
Just kidding...I do know of a blog, where the gal always feature her thrifty buys and models them...
These are not thrifty buys...but...we did score a few cool things...working on that post...have not done one of those for a while...
Here is the view as we drove along the lake...gorgeous!!
That Friday night...we decided to make our own Pizzas!!
I sauteed some mushrooms, red peppers and onions...
Mine consists of sliced tomato...sauteed veggies...olives and goats cheese...
Boyfriend made 2!!
One with smoked salmon...olives...veggies...
The other with some left over Ham cubes...
Both got sprinkled with Parmesan cheese....
And some slivered fresh Basil...
Cooked them on our Pizza stone...
YUMMY!!

We got out for a very brisk walk...

It had been sunny and warm the whole drive on Friday....
When we reached the Lake...
We could not believe our eyes!!!
Pea Soup Fog!!!
And much chillier than we expected...
Oh well...
Made lunch...and then we got busy...raking!!!
Boyfriend got a new flag installed...
You can see how windy it was...
And foggy...
And lots of icebergs floating on the Lake...
Made for a rather chilly South breeze...
That big aluminum steps and handrails was still there...
It had floated in , in the Fall...
And stayed all winter...
One of our neightbours came over on Saturday...
And he and my boyfriend got it dismantled and moved...
It was soooo heavy!!
As the afternoon progressed...
the sun melted some ice on the treetops...
which fell in huge drops onto our heads, while we worked...
my hair was soaked...
and kinda furry...
hahaha!
The fog started to lift around 5pm...
And the sun came out...
But...by then...we were cold and tired...
So we went inside around 6pm...
As we were eating dinner...
Around 7:30...
The sky turned shades of blue and pink...
Fantastic way to end the day...
Oh...
But of course...
A fire....♥️

We have Miss V for the afternoon...
She is sleeping right now...she already got a short walk in with her Papa, after lunch...between the periods of rain!!
We are having filet of sole, fried rice and fresh yellow beans for dinner...
