Last Friday started out looking like this!!
So....after putzing around 'til nearly lunch time...we headed out!!
First we had lunch at Harveys in Port Colborne, then we headed for Welland, as they have a mall there...with a Winners!!
When we returned to the cottage, around 3 pm, things were looking much brighter!!
I took a stroll down to the beach...
The Milkweed has begun to produce its flowers...
Very pleased with this, as the Monarchs and the Hummingbirds love this Native plant...they grow wherever the seeds drop...and I could not be happier!!
The Perennial Lunaria, are starting to form their Silver Dollars...the seeds are inside...you can already see them...I will get a picture in the Fall, when they are in their glory!! A very pretty specimen...again, they grow where the seeds land!
these all happen to be on the beach...
You can see that things are beginning to brighten up...
These Coleus, in a planter down by the beach deck, are almost Neon!!
I hunted around, and found a few things for a Kitchen Porch Arrangement...
Ferns...Hosta leaves...Gout Weed flowers...a few Chive Flowers...and...I think a Yellow weed!! hahaha! But...the flower resembles an Evening Primrose to me!!
And...of course...a Bee!!
While dinner was in the oven, we found a sunny spot at the road side of the cottage...this is where the sun sets...in the West...a nice spot at the end of a day..
We were also able to eat dinner on the sunporch, as the sun was streaming in there...almost the longest day of the year!!
Saw this adorable Dove up in the branches of one of our Evergreens...

And the Sunset over the Lake was pretty impressive too!!

A beautiful one here! Plenty of sunshine, and a lovely breeze...
Did a Costco run, and nabbed 2 rotiserrie chickens!
One for the cottage tomorrow...and one for the freezer!
Such a good deal...we can never resist!
Chicken soup on the stove...also for the cottage...love soup for the weekend!
Gonna have panko crusted crispy pork chops..with roasted yams, carrots and onions...and some fresh asparagus with parmesan cheese!!
Perhaps we will dine by the pool again tonight...did that last night, and...oh...it just makes the meal so much more delicious!!

On Friday past...
We decided...
With this brutal Arctic Air...
That has been making it's way down...
That it was time...
To drain the lines...
Empty and clean the fridge...
And put the old girl to rest...
For another year...
As we pulled out of the driveway...
And I closed the gate...
I felt a wee bit sad...
But also glad...
That we are so lucky to have this beautiful place...
And to take such great care of her...
And let her begin her annual hibernation...
And the view from the car...
WAS spectacular...
And...
Kinda looked like SNOW to me...
We will visit almost every week...
Just to make sure...
She is safe...
And sound!!
Will be sharing beautiful wintery shots for sure!!

Today will be a some pictures from the last week...
Starting at the cottage last Thursday...
A rather cloudy day...storms across the Lake, south of us...New York State...Dunkirk
My planter box on the shed (shunda) is doing very well this year...
Doesn't get a lot of sun here...or rain either...the Nasturtiums are popping!!
I kept hearing a small Chickadee family...
Finally spotted them on one of the bird baths...
Parents and 3 chicks...so adorable...this was the only good shot I got...
They were bathing and drinking...hopping around...very cute!
Hope they are still around this weekend♥️
This dragonfly was waiting for us on the beach deck...
Apparently he did not continue the journey with his buddies...
He looked spectacular against the blue deck, and even more handsome on the green table...
Sad that he didn't make it...ahhhh Nature!
I lost this silver hoop earring in April, while doing some gardening...
Luckily I kept the mate, as my boyfriend spied it in the garden...
And presented it to me!♥️
This was the 2nd time I had lost it, and he found it!

A few Critters I encountered...
I have never seen a squirrel with such a red tail....How about you??
He ws also kind of tame...didn't run away when approached...
Hope he stays OUT of the cottage!
The other Critter ws floating around in the pool! Looks like he jumped on for dear life!!
Suddenly he jumped off....swam for "shore"...sadly...succumbed to the skimmer...
No...there was no way to save him...it all happened so quickly...
Sunday brought My daughter out to pick up Miss V...
The pool was all toasty, and Miss ve had a ball playing in the steps!
Noticed the my Ivy was turning red...
A wee bit early??
Another critter...probably looking for the wee mouse!
A piece of my delicious banana,lemon,raspberry loaf...
Very moist and delicious!
