Feathers & Flowers...From Last Weekends Cottage Visit......♥️

With a lot more blooming in my gardens last weekend...

I was able to put together my first weekend arrangement of the year...

This was for the kitchen porch, as the shutters are still on the sun porch...

Daffodils were the stars...well...they were pretty much all that was blooming!

I did see some Tulips getting ready...

Hopefully will feature them soon...

My beach is FULL of LUNARIA plants...SILVER DOLLAR PLANTS...

Or...as I like to call them...

MONEY PLANTS!!

They are a bi-ennial, and I guess a lot of the seeds blew down to the beach!

I would like to transplant a few...perhaps this coming weekend...

Aren't they a beautiful PURPLE ?
 

These beautiful Red Breasted Merganser Ducks are plentiful this Spring...

The Male is in the one on the right...Female to the left...

They spend a lot of time sunning themselves on the beach...

Diving for food...I hope they stay around with their young ones!!

This handsome fella must have some eggs high up in the Maples...

He was chasing the squirrels who were getting too close...

I had to zoom from inside to capture him...not a very clear shot!

The Mourning Dove was easy to capture...

In the morning, after a rainy Friday night...

Love all the raindrops on the grass...

But...

This my friends...

Was the best...

While on the beach deck...

Boyfriend and I could see a large bird in a tree way down the beach...

We thought it was a Turkey Vulture...

I zoomed in as close as I could...

While looking at my photos in the camera, I really thought it was a Bald Eagle...

Boy....was I surprised to see this when I downloaded my photos at home!!!

In our 20 years at the cottage...we have NEVER seen one of these!!

How fantastic!! Hope to see him again....

Weather is up and down...

Horrible Forest Fire going on in our Western Province of Alberta...

The town of Fort McMurray has been evacuated because of the raging fire...

They have had unseasonably warm temps out there...in the 30C's...HOT!!

And dry...

My boyfriend is in that province on business...but about 500 miles from the fire...

Holding good thoughts for the town...and its people...♥️

On my way to scoop up my Miss V...

I have a few things planned for the day...

They include gardening...baking and crafting!!

Wish us luck!

Her Mommy will join her and I for a Pizza night!

Think I'll put together a Greek salad for Mommy and I...on the side!

The Weekend & A Birthday!!

Friday at the cottage brought a few showers...

Which...provided for some good photo-ops!

Still a limited supply of blooms...but what there is...are gorgeous!!

Saturday was wall to wall sunshine...with a N/E breeze...lovely!

I got the firepit ready on the beach deck...

We went in to eat...{had burgers...yum}...and while we were inside...

The darn old wind changed to a S/W direction...so...

My Boyfriend went out to put the firepit away...

Safely covered for next time...:o(

If the wind is blowing any SOUTH direction...it is IMPOSSIBLE to have a fire...

And...

We learned that the HARD way! hahaha!

Sunday was cooler, so we busied ourselves inside til the afternoon...

Then....made our way home...
 

We had the pleasure of spending the day with Miss V yesterday...

She was very busy making her Auntie Lissa and Uncle Ryan birthday cards...

Lissa is today....Ryan is on Thursday...

 

She was the cutest baby and is now a beautiful woman...♥️

In this photo she is wearing my dress that my Aunt smocked for me as a young child...isn't it beautiful? Both of my beautiful daughters wore it! I find that smocking has lost its appeal with the younger Mothers of today...I kept a dress that she had made for Lissa...she made MANY...and tried to get Miss V to wear it...but, the size and timing never seemed to mesh...but I still have it!!

I will not see her today....she and her hubby are spending the day together♥️

I did finish the afghan for her...here is a sneak peek!!

I think I will see her tomorrow...hope she likes it!!

Weather here is kinda dreary...drippy...cold!!

At least the darn wind has died down since yesterday...

I am off to the grocery store...gonna look for some Salmon for dinner...

And...perhaps I will make some homemade YAM fries to go with that...

Wonder what veggies are on sale....hmmmmm...

Very Dull Cloudy Day At The Cottage......

It was a very dull...dark...cloudy day at the cottage...

When we visited last Friday...

It wasn't cold...5*c...north wind...calm lake...

I think it was colder INSIDE than outside!

Boyfriend got the water going...and I got the fridge on!! 

Cleaned up after the squirrel business...lots of sooty prints everywhere!!

The beach is like a tornado hit it!!

Lots of driftwood and odds and ends...lots to clean up!!

Will make a lovely bonfire though!
 

 My gardens are snow free...and lots growing...and...lots of leaves!

These Hollyhocks are eager...and lots of daffodils and tulips popping up!

 On our way to the cottage...we dropped off a bag at one of our thrift shops...

Of course...I had to buy something!!

I spent $1.50 on all 3 things!

Loved the Bugs Bunny glass...and the etched Bird on the other glass grabbed my attention...

One more Pup to add to my doggie collection...

The one with the pink bows is the newest!

They remind me of Carnival prizes!!

 We did not sleep over...but...we did leave the furnace on...YAY!!!

As we were leaving to come home...a bit of snow flurrie blew in!!

I always love this view of the point...on our way out....

Weather has turned cold....brrr...and darn windy....geesh!!

Need to make a list for my Easter preparations...

The kids will come on Friday for dinner...and treats! hahaha!

Then...perhaps Boyfriend and I will go to the cottage...

If the weather co-operates, that is!!
