Last Week At The Icy Cottage.......

These pics are from last Friday,when we visited the cottage...

There was just a light dusting of snow...but the waves must have been wild, to coat the beach and seawalls in ice...

It was a bit sunny that day...with a West wind...chilly, but not too bad.

Normally, The Great Lakes would be frozen by now...but the weather has been so topsy turvy...

Bitter cold and then balmy temps...

The photo below, is from our Thrift shopping...I think I spent about $5 this day...Pretty extravagant,eh? hahaha!

The one thing that I looked up on the Internet, is the Football player planter there...It had the markings E.O.Brody Co on the bottom....with the original sticker and a #05074...I couldn't get anywhere with the #, but the wee Football player came up on Etsy...selling for $21...I paid 50 cents! I really think I have a good eye for things that are vintage...I thought he would look cute on the cottage sunporch, with a tiny plant in it!

This close-up gives you a better idea of what he looks like....

I know...kinda kooky, but that's the way I like it! hahaha!!!

On his back, is a place for a small plant....

Can't wait to see how he looks on the porch!!

Snippets From My Weekend..........

My Ferns doubled in size I think...

Hopefully I can keep them watered, and they will last well into August...

My Evergreens are sprouting soft lush new growth...love this!!

The Native Mulleins that sprung up on the beach...are HUGE!

They will have tall spikes with tiny yellow flowers... 

They are supposed to help the respiratory system...

Very difficult for Stone Sculptures so far this year...

The beach took a real beating with that big aluminum dock that was there all winter...the stones are not as softly flowing...also difficult navigating the beach...especially after a few cocktails!! hahaha!

The Ajuga...or Bugleweed...is doing quite well this year...I dug it out from the lawn, and put it in one of the beds beside the beach deck...

 

Added these 3 tiny Daffodils to the window shelf, in the kitchen...overlooking the screened in porch...the windows have not been cleaned yet...YIKES!!
 

There were quite a few Tulips blooming...

This is a particular favorite of mine...

Mr & Mrs Wren are nesting...I think...in this bird house I painted, resting on the shed planter box...They were so busy, I tried several times to capture them...perhaps next weekend...Thanks to Eddie for explaining their mating rituals...the house I showed you last week, is full of feathers and twigs, but they were not flying around it anymore...
 

This is my happy face...

As I pulled into the Nursery on Saturday morning...

It was blurry Tammy...I did not have to blurry it up!!

I wanted to show you all my new glasses...I have to wear them all the time now...

The frame was called "Butterscotch"...so I knew we were a match!

I got the green transition lens..the newest thing!!

What do you think????

I only got a few things...

They did not have any Cosmos...or Cleome...so I will have to be on the search...

They only had red Impatience, and RED...is not my favorite flower colour...

Lots of time to find what I need...

It is only 12*c tonight!!!  Yesterday it was 29*c!!! Kooky weather!!

What is it like where you are?

Friday and Saturday were rather overcast...

And a fog kept rolling in...and rolling out...very limited sunshine...

And...of course...that nippy breeze!!

But.....Sunday...was spectacular...such a perfect day...

Bits & Bobs.....

added a sumptuous planter behind the ferns....

filled a pot with bright orange Portulaca...haven't bought this for years!!! It will thrive down by the beach deck, and provide a bright spot...

beach deck in late afternoon...hopefully painted when we go back this weekend...remember? Painted for my Mothers day gift...after all...it is Fathers day this weekend!

Saw this flowering Chestnut tree...2 doors west...had to get a few shots...aren't they incredible blooms?  And the colour....♥️

Could there be any more Ants on this Peony???

Glorious Geraniums springing up everywhere...

Sweet Peas are up...won't be long!!

Here is the beach deck, as we were leaving Sunday afternoon....my boyfriend cleared it all off, in anticipation of the painting being done! Can you believe how cloudy it was??? And hot!!

Another shot of the deck....from my newly created walkway last Summer....love the way this turned out!

Surprise...Surprise...my white Peonies were open on Sunday!!! Well...a few...the first round...had to cut  a dozen or so...and find them suitable homes...

And....last but not least...Mr Moon last night...mesmerizing....

          It was sunny earlier...clouds have rolled in...still quite humid...

                   Hopefully some rain tomorrow...

                       The gardens could use some refreshment!

                    Over no yolk noodles...delish!!

                        Opening with a loaded spinach salad....

The Week That Was......

These were from my front planter last year!
So happy they made it!
GOSH...I am sounding really happy...
But...to tell you the truth...not so happy...
Only because I am still at home...
And not at the cottage..due to crappy weather...
Oh well...
We will go tomorrow...

Ok...back to the week that was!!

 

  Front Ferns and Hostas looking good...

  Lots more Hostas to come....and Lily Of The Valley...

  Perhaps next week.... 

  Ok....back to being happy...I thought my Forget-me-nots forgot to come up!!!
  Found a small patch at the front....seems to have some pink in there as well...
  Happy...happy....happy!

 

  Did a little bit more clean-up...lots of needles from the big old Pine tree...

 

   OK....my boyfriend and I got the pool cover off....water looks pretty scuzzy eh???

  After some sweeping,vacuuming, more sweeping...chlorine...and a day later...

  TA DA!!    Looks a 1000 times better!   {that is just me folding laundry...2 more loads to go}

  Tomatoes and avacadoes sunning themselves...amde them into a Greek salad that night...

                Very juicy! 

   The backyard yielded a small patch of forget-me-nots as well...

   These were a deeper blue than at the front...

   Wonder if there are any at the cottage....{will have to wait to see}

   Kalanchoe out for the summer...tiny Hens and Chicks looking a bit grim...

   Hopefullly they will pick up... 

  

   While digging out a few stray bamboo shoots...

   I discovered this lovely yellow Tulip...completely hidden....lovely!

   And...the ants...are loving the Peonies!!! 

  Earlier in the week...

  I mentioned some sweet   cantaloupe...

         Well...

  Not to disappoint...

  Here are a few pics!

          I bought another one...

       It is cut and ready to go to the   
cottage....
         supposed to be warmer this weekend...

   Had a real downpour earlier....while I was out...of course!!

   Picked up 2 gigantic ferns at Walmart....$9.88 each!!!    Fantastic....

   They are for the cottage...so I will get a pic this weekend!!

      On the menu this Friday....

          Home made Pizza...with sliced tomatoes,black olives,sauteed mushrooms,goats cheese...

                  And....of course.....smoked salmon on my boyfriends portion...:o)


                         I think Ceasar Salad with the rest of those juicy grape tomatoes...
