Last Week At The Icy Cottage.......

These pics are from last Friday, when we visited the cottage...

There was just a light dusting of snow...but the waves must have been wild, to coat the beach and seawalls in ice...

It was a bit sunny that day...with a West wind...chilly, but not too bad.

Normally, The Great Lakes would be frozen by now...but the weather has been so topsy turvy...

Bitter cold and then balmy temps...

The photo below, is from our Thrift shopping...I think I spent about $5 this day...Pretty extravagant,eh? hahaha!

The one thing that I looked up on the Internet, is the Football player planter there...It had the markings E.O.Brody Co on the bottom....with the original sticker and a #05074...I couldn't get anywhere with the #, but the wee Football player came up on Etsy...selling for $21...I paid 50 cents! I really think I have a good eye for things that are vintage...I thought he would look cute on the cottage sunporch, with a tiny plant in it!

This close-up gives you a better idea of what he looks like....

I know...kinda kooky, but that's the way I like it! hahaha!!!

On his back, is a place for a small plant....

Can't wait to see how he looks on the porch!!

I will leave you with a photo from the cottage...

Lush Hostas and Ferns...

Darling Screened Sun Porch...

Ahhhhhhhh....

I can hear the sweet wee Wrens singing right now...

Hope that you are all well...

The sun is shining today...colder temps...off we go for our weekly drive!!!!

Have a lovely happy weekend...

                          Cheers! :o)

  7. What fun finds you have there from the thrift store.

It is really cold here, too, but the bay finally froze over. This year they are keeping the shipping lane open to bring fuel in. It is usually frozen closed from November until April so it is odd to see the big ships coming in. Hope you have a great weekend- xo Diana

  10. Brrrr!!!!!!! Very chilly indeed! Surprised that the lake is not frozen given how cold it looks, I guess that means that it gets even even even colder when the lake does freeze!!! Lovely thrifting items.

    1. Because the temps are up and down, it has not frozen completely...I think last year was the first time in many years, that it actually froze all the way across!

  11. Oh boy, you do have cold weather. Yesterday, it reached 80 F for a short time. I had the porch doors open all afternoon at the lake. It was a nice little break, but I'm not ready for those temps just yet. Next week will be back in the 60's, that's more like it. Love the photos of your cottage. It looks like it belongs in a fairytale.

  13. You must have some pretty neat thrift shops out your way! You always seem to find such interesting things. I have heard that the lakes are not frozen the way they should be by now and for us, sitting to the east of Lake Huron, that's giving us all of these snow squalls and storms. But looking at your summery cottage helps a little. It gives us something to look forward to! -Jenn

Yes...more flurries when the Lakes are not frozen...luckily Buffalo gets most of the Lake Erie's lake effect snow! hahaha!

  15. It does look icy there Linda. But pretty too. Great thrift finds! I never find things that cheap here but then I don't shop thrift stores much now as I have too much stuff already. Now....if I had a cottage or camp....I think I'd have fun shopping for thrift things to decorate it with. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

  16. Cute football player planter. Nice the way that you labeled all of your great vintage finds, so organized. DId a visit to the AGO with my out of town SIL house guest today. Very crowded for a special Van Gogh, Monet exhibit. I can never resist a little culture! Take care and keep warm...
