Busy...Festive...Fun Week...🌟🎄🌟

What a busy busy busy week I had!!

One morning we had a wee snowfall, and the bright sunshine made everything glow!

I made a trip the "The Flower Store" that day, and picked up a few things...I then had a big mug of Apple Cinnamon Tea and berries and yogurt...I had also done a large grocery shop...
So the Tea was very soothing!!

I needed to make a small table arrangement for my dinner guests on Saturday night...

It was so nice and sunny... that ...Lunch was enjoyed taking in the beautiful sunshine...

I always like to get my table set at least the day before...

I opted for a black tablecloth...and it really made the few ornaments POP...As you can see...

Love the rainbow on the napkin!!

I used a vintage green bowl for my White Carnations...

My daughter taught me the ways of using an oasis...and I love this method...

I simply added a few stray pieces to make it more Festive!!

Simple....yet elegant!! I will make another for our  family Christmas table...but this fit the bill quite nicely...I am having my brother and his wife over next Friday for dinner, so I am hoping that this wee arrangement is still fresh and perky!!

Friday's afternoon Sun made everything sparkle....✨✨✨

After that was done...I took a breather!!!

We were out Friday night to friends for dinner, so I wanted to get as much done on Friday as I could!!

The tree is coming along nicely...

I am enjoying not having to water it!!

I even had time to start on a few Christmas cards...

Snacks for my guests were ready...

While my boyfriend puts on a few Christmas tunes...

Had a great meal...

Lots of laughs...

And...

The dessert...

Was...

Out...

Of...

This...

World...

Managed a rather blurry pic...but...I think you get the idea...😳

Today we are getting our first real snowfall...

Kinda pretty out there, but...I don't have to go anywhere!!!

My crochet is calling me, and once I get all showered, I have a date with the couch!!!

This cute White Throated Sparrow visited me this am...took his pic thru the window...

See his yellow stripe??

Think I will top up the feeders...

My view from the kitchen....

I just love my
Miscanthus grasses...   all   year   round!!

When my Son got married in October, I brought home one of his table arrangements from the wedding...I rooted 2 succulents that were in it...they did really well, getting nice long roots...I have recently planted them in a vintage container...with stones from the cottage beach...and I added a small (phony) Steer Skull, that had belonged to my Mom...I have saved it for many years. I think it is just perfect, and I know my Son will love the presentation. I am gifting it to him ♥️

So...that is up to date with me!!

Hope you are all well...and enjoying the season...

The snow is getting a bit heavier right now...looks like an all day affair...

I will hopefully get a few nice snowy pics...the only good thing about SNOW is the pictures! hahaha!!

Have a great day and enjoy your week ahead...

Be back soon.....

                 Cheers!  :o)

The Weekend....

Friday was a drive to the cottage...
As you can see...another dark dreary day out there...
It was quite warm up near the cottage...but...as you went down the beach to the water, it became very chilly...
The breeze off the water was damp and bone chilling..

I love the colours of the stones when they are wet...

Not as much sand this weekend...
Strange...every visit reveals a whole new look...
It was neat having the waves wash over my boots!!
Thinking of the summertime once again...

Water is still on!!
If these above seasonal temps continue...we are thinking..

                         ***   NEW YEARS EVE!!   ***

My Perennial Sweet Peas look like they have started to grow again!
In December!!
Looks like an El Nino Winter for us!!
Yippee!!

Back at home...
I was readying the dining room for Saturday night dinner guests..
I had no decorations up in here yet...so it was quite a tall order for me...
Why am I always surprised when the Christmas Season creeps up on me!!
Seems like I am never ready!

This year...less is more...for sure!!

My 2 outdoor planters are done...thanks to my fresh greens that I had brought from the cottage last week...
They are lit and beautiful!!
Everything that I brought went to good use...
Even had a few GIANT pine cones for indoors too!!

My daughter Erika...aka The Flower Lady...brought me a huge bunch of fabulous Lisianthus blooms...

Awesome colour too...minty creamy pale green...some almost an ivory colour...
In different stages of bloom...
I made 4 arrangements from the bunch...Thanks Erika♥️

Dining room table...
Kitchen table...
Powder room...
Living room...
Love these!!

For my dinner guests...I opted for no tablecloth this time...
Used my quilted plaid placemats that I made about 20 years ago...
Some Christmas S&P's...
A few pine cones and shiny things..
My Moms beautiful Wedgewood china...
And the Bunny vase that my late Brother Tom gave me...♥️
And of course lots of candles...my passion!!

Aren't these flowers just so beautiful???
With a few boughs of White Pine...perfect!

The kitchen table got a bit of a spruce up as well...
A few Lisianthus...some milk glass with candles...
And...
Of course...
My white Pumpkin from Halloween!!
My SIL Jeff brought me that...and it is still looking great!!
A few of my big pine cones...
A couple of red tealight holders...
And...Miss V's window clings in the background...very festive!!
Completes the look...

I had prepared a platter of Hors D'oeuvres...

Smoked Salmon and cream cheese, with capers...
Black and green olives...
Huge green grapes...
Clementine wedges...
Pickled onions...
Savoury Mushrooms...
Dates...
Jalapeno Havarti Cheese...
Pepper Cheese...
Rice crackers and crispy Triscuits..
Sliced Kielbasa...
A variety of choices...
Very delicious...
And...it all got eaten! I like that!!

Dinner was roast beef...roasted potatoes, carrots,onions...
Smothered in some pretty darn delicious gravy...if I may say so!!
We had red wine with that...and a jug of lemon water...

Dessert was a bumble berry crisp with butterscotch ice cream...
My guests said this was excellent...
Oh...and the meal too...
All my hard work paid off...and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves...

Hope you all had a great weekend too...

Weather here is quite balmy...

With a few peeks of sunshine...

Spent the day tidying up...changed the sheets...lounged and snacked!

And the best is...

We have leftovers for dinner!!

But...this time mashed taters with sweetlet peas...

The beef is warming up in the gravy...

How wonderful is this!!??

Enjoy your evening...I plan to...

                          Cheers!   :o)

Setting The Stage......

Had some old friends in for dinner last Friday night...

Well...not OLD...but you know...old...

They were original neighbours on our small court 30 years ago...

They moved away about 16 years ago...

Kept in touch here and there...

Their oldest son did our front walkway, and helped repair the back deck this past summer...

Ran into them at a funeral...one of our other long time neighbours...before Christmas...

Decided it was time to get together...

Picked up 2 dozen small stemmed Roses...

One dozen of Hot Pink...

One dozen of a sort of Rusty Orange...

Both very pretty...and fragrant...

Although I went with a tan, cream and black tablecloth and placmeats...

I thought the cream and pink napkins were a great contrast...

And picked up the Pink from the roses...

Crystal and mirrored candle holders...

Milk Glass for the centrepiece...

Added some red tealight holders for the side tables...

I had enough Roses...

To do the table centrepiece, generously with lots of roses...

3 for my bunny glass holder that my dear late brother Tom gave me...♥️

I try to keep flowers in that all year if I can...

On my small side cabinet...

Also a small bouquet on my hall table, in the foyer...

One of my Elves is keeping them company...

They were scheduled
To arrive at 6:30...

I lit a few candles just to brighten up the room a bit...

We had a lovely time...

Laughed...

Remembered our kids when they were little...

Hockey on the street...

Fighting with the builder!!

Putting up fences...

Having sod laid...

Digging for our pools...

Ahhhhhh...

The good old days!

Sat in the family room with a fire going, for an hour or so...

A few nibblies...

Some nice Red Wine...

Then onto dinner.....

Hope you are all having a great day...

Sunny...but cold again here...no snow right now...not sure what is forecast...

Took a drive to the cottage yesterday...lots of snow out there!

Lake still frozen and icy...will share some pics soon...

         On the menu tonight...

                    Grilled pork tenderloin medallions...

                          Mashed taters and heirloom carrots...

Sauteed mushrooms and some lovely pork gravy...

                         Doesn't that sound delicious!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your day...

                          Miss V tomorrow!!!

                                 Cheers!   :o)

Top O' The Mornin' To Ya!!!!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!

from our favorite "Irish" elf!!

My husband's Father was from Ireland, so we come by the celebration honestly!!!

Most people like to be "Irish" for a day.....any excuse to get drunk and disorderly!!

This cute Leprechaun Garden Elf was a gift from my son...

Received a cute card from my daughter, and made a "green"arrangement in my green bowl given to me by my other daughter....

Having dinner guests this evening...

Table set appropriately...

Gifts for everyone!!!!
Not as sunny and bright as forecast....but it isn't snowing!!!

Enjoy your day..........Raise a Guinness......Cheers...:o)
