Spring At The Cottage???????

Last Tuesday was the first trip to the cottage since early February...

Nothing much had changed! The Lake had not frozen this year...so the beach was wide open to everything Mother Nature could throw at her!!

We have several new LOGS...It will be interesting to see if they last, or get taken out by a Spring storm.

Lots of branches and twigs for the boyfriend to gather...the winds have been extra gusty this year.

Everything inside is perfect!!

Before leaving...we left the furnace on at 50f...just to take the chill off the old girl.

We will be turning the water on next week...plug in the fridge...vaccuum...put some fresh clean linens on the bed...and we will be in business!!

Well...sorta...lots of clean up in the gardens...where do the leaves come from, after you rake for weeks in the Fall?????

Our large Miscanthus grasses, also need to be cut down...such a hideous job, but, with a wonderful reward later in the year.

It certainly didn't look or feel like Spring when we were there...

A mere 4*c...with a brisk wind...brrrr.....

I did notice quite a few Daffodils poking thru, so perhaps on my next visit, I can gather a few prettier pics to share!!

I did mange to find a few pretty shells on the beach...

And 2 big pieces of beach pottery...no beach glass this trip...next time!!

We stopped at one of our fav Thrift Shops, as I had a HUGE bag to donate...

I found these 3 wee pieces...

The Wooden Painted bowl,is straight from the 50's...I remember my parents had one!! It is marked JAPAN on the bottom...

I think my Son will love this, and the Vintage juice glass...

I will keep the white Hobnail tealite holder for myself!!!

I spent $1.50 for all 3!!

The view as we left the cottage...I always love the way this point looks, with the sun on the Lake....

I managed to get a few Barn pics on the way home...it is getting harder to NOT get any Wind Turbines in the shots!!!

I hope you are all well....and enjoying Spring weather where you live!!

Or Autumn...as a few of my peeps are enjoying right now!!

No cottage trip this Friday...lousy weather predicted...and my son is stopping by!!! have not seen him since before we left on our vacation. I have a new "cat mat" made for his cat Buddy...hope he likes it!!

I am working finishing up another Granny Square afghan...will share soon!!

I also got Miss V to pose in her cardigan that I made for her...

I will save that for another post...it is  a looong story! hahaha!

Unless you follow me on IG, then you have already seen it there.

    Have a wonderful weekend...

We are in store for some wet weather here in Southern Ontario...

            I know...I know...good for the plants! hahaha!!

               Making fall-off-the-bone Ribs for dinner...yummy!!

                           Cheers!  :o)

  1. You need to get Miss V there to help pick up all those twigs!

  2. Nice you could get in a visit and that things are ticking over. Love tbe view of The Point as well. If I was there I would build you a garden bench and have it inscribed, "Linda's favourite view". You might have to wait a while for it though . . . haha

  3. No spring like weather here, but hoping it will arrive soon. Wonderful to get back to visiting your cottage. Great thrift store finds for such a low price. Love your treasures. I read a book where the person has a jar for each year and keeps all the treasures she finds in it ... interesting concept.

  4. It must be a nice feeling to make your trip to the cottage. My daughter in Oregon is getting lots of logs on the beach. My sil has cut them up for firewood, and sold a cord or two.
Your thrift store finds are sweet. Looking forward to seeing your new creations in yarn. Dinner sounds fall off the bone wonderful. Hugs.

It is ridiculous but I live half an hour or so away from the Ocean and I have not been to the beach yet, since I moved here, months ago !

  6. The logs look sturdy enough for seating at your fire pit. Glad to hear your cottage has weathered winter well. Don't you feel like winter just blew by? It seems like yesterday you were just closing up for the fall's last visit. Nice shots around the place, and I also enjoyed seeing your Spring Robins in prev post. Our robins never left this winter.

  7. It is always interesting to see what the waves bring in to your little beach area at the cottage. In the photo of your boots on the beach....at first I thought it was a grey cat's back with it's tail wrapped around your grey suede shoes. Hahaha. Enjoy the weekend. Pam

  8. Your Old Girl is just wonderful! I love to get to "visit" there when you go. ;) The wind turbines are that way in west Texas, too. You used to have a clear view for miles and miles... now, they are EVERYWHERE. No unobstructed views. I can't wait to hear the story that goes with Miss V and her cardigan. I know she looks adorable in it! Enjoy your son time this weekend. I know how special that can be. blessings ~ tanna

Love your water shot in b/w, very stylish indeed. I'm in love with your boots with fur, and need something like that when we go over for Christmas (I think - do they work in snow?). You must look forward to the treasures you find on that beach, and I would too. Daffodils next! happy weekend Linda.

  16. We were at the beach this week and there were millions or maybe even billions of pieces of wood. We were walking on a hill of them.

  17. Nice that you're having Miss V. today. You'll enjoy crafty indoor activities on this gloomy, rainy day. Just had breakfast with my BF's grandkids in Guelph, worth the rainy drive! Checking out a new Italian restaurant with friends tonight, award winning downtown chef has opened in our neighbourhood. :) Nice beach pottery and UGGS! Enjoy the family...
