Another Cottage Season Comes To An End........

On Friday past...

We decided...

With this brutal Arctic Air...

That has been making it's way down...

That it was time...

To drain the lines...

Empty and clean the fridge...

And put the old girl to rest...

For another year...

As we pulled out of the driveway...

And I closed the gate...

I felt a wee bit sad...

But also glad...

That we are so lucky to have this beautiful place...

And to take such great care of her...

And let her begin her annual hibernation...

And the view from the car...

WAS spectacular...

And...

Kinda looked like SNOW to me...

We will visit almost every week...

Just to make sure...

She is safe...

And sound!!

Will be sharing beautiful wintery shots for sure!!

Hope you all had a great weekend...

                         Anything exciting???

                    Any Winter decorating???

All plants are in and thriving...frost finally killed my spectacular Dragon Wing Begonia...she was a beauty...♥️

It has been lightly snowing all day...

Just enough to make things look all white...

                            Snowing where you are???

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday...

                                      Cheers!  :o)

  1. Hi Linda - I can understand you feeling sad to close her up. Popping out once a week will help, though, I'm sure. I like the photos through the cottage window. So pretty. Friends of ours just bought a cottage in the Halliburton Highlands. I can imagine that it is a beautiful cottage and location. I guess it's their beginning of a love-affair with a summer home. It snowed today for the first time. There's a little still on the ground tonight. I got out my winter boots today. Did you knit the sweater you are wearing in the photo?

    1. Oh I wish I knit it! I love this sweater sooo much.....I think it is 5 years old...or older!
I have searched the internet for a similar pattern.....but no luck!
I have been wearing my boots too!
      Have a great week......

  4. Lovely photos ! It is pretty by the lake in the winter to ! Yup first snow for us here to and lots of it , it has been snowing all day and still is and it is 9:30pm pretty out though ! I thought having a furnace in the cottage you would stay over the winters on the weekends ! I guess it gets costly with it in the winters . Thanks for sharing , have a good day !

  5. Bye bye, cottage, until the weather warms in the spring. Sleep well, keep tight against the wind, the snow, the cold. We will see you again, when the sun shines and the weather warms.

  6. Yes, it is that time! We're supposed to get snow overnight, so we shall see! It certainly is cold enough for it!

  8. Gosh Linda . . . what a breathtaking couple of opening photos.
I can't help thinking if I sat at that table with THAT view I would be inspired to write such soul searching poems ~ that place is non other than 'pure inspiration'. . .

Shame your cottage season has come to a close but it gave you some impressive end of year sights . . love the one with the icicles . . .
I shall look forward to reading more when you start visiting again . . . . the time will go quickly.
Just concentrate on Florida coming along . . . and maybe dream of the Maldives or the Bahamas basking in the warmth. . . :)

  9. So sad in a way, but you will be back over the winter and then just think of all that next year will bring! Also, you will be very glad that you have your other house that is heated and insulated and will keep you toasty warm and safe through the winter!! xx

  10. You got it closed up just in time. We had snowy days over the weekend and again this morning. Time to haul the winter gear out and feel 10 pound heavier when it is all on.

  13. The end of another beautiful season at the cottage is always bittersweet I'm sure. It's snowing here today. So far. It might change to rain overnight but we have a couple of centimetres down and everything looks so pretty. I have my outside decorating finished and am working slowly at the inside now. Trying to get in the spirit of things and the snow is helping. Pam

  15. Tucking her in for the winter... I will sing her a little lullaby! Hee hee. You look so beautiful, Linda! And I love the coiled railing shimmering with ice. What a great photo. Brrrrrr... bit of snow here but it's not really staying. Our power was out last night for about three hours... started to get a little chilly without it! Ran around today doing errands and now I am about to make some chai tea. Mmm... warmth...
