The planter that Miss V and I did last week...
Is looking glorious!!
Thank goodness she is such a thoughtful and careful gardener...
The few Scillia and Daffodils I had, are long gone...
And...this planter is reviving our gardening spirits...
Such beautiful colourful Flowers...
Such an abundance of new buds and blooms...
Lets hear it for The Greenhouse!! {aka the flower store}
Miss V and I have decided that next week...
We shall visit again...and...bring home some more loveliness...
To adorn our lives...so fulfilling!
And...I must say...Those RUSTY..PINKY...MAUVEY Osteospermum...
Are simply divine!!
Those darn COSMOS aren't too shabby either!!
Miss V's pot of White Cosmos are doing great...
And...she gave them a big drink...and filled the birdbath as well...
Unfortunately I think her Sunflowers are toast...:o(
But....her Pumpkins are looking outstanding!
Will grab a photo of those to show you....
I think we will put some more Sunflower seeds in the pots...
And hope for the best!!
And...not to disappoint...
The obligatory Dandelion blow....♥️♥️♥️ {look at that face♥️} {and lipstick}
Hope you are all having a great day...

Sunday started out bright and sunny...although a bit windy!!
Miss V and her Mom arrived first...
Miss V ran right into the garden shed, to get her bucket and shovel...
Down she went to the beach...not much sand this week...
But...plenty of rocks!!
She LOVES throwing rocks into the water!!
it was a brisk westerly wind...which kept gusting to south...brrrr!
I took these shots from the comfort of some shelter...and a comfy chair!!
Then...it was time to head inside for some lunch...
Peanut Butter and apple slices for Miss V...
Egg Salad for Erika and I...homemade beef soup for the boyfriend...
It was nice and warm inside...love that furnace!!
After our lunch...Erika and her Dad went into town...Miss V and I stayed behind...
We went outside again...but the wind was getting pretty nipply, and it felt like rain...
Thanks goodness we put the cushions away, 'cause there was a brief rainstorm!
We busied ourselves inside...and waited for the others to arrive!!
Auntie Lissa...Uncle Jeff...and Uncle Ryan all arrived! We sat inside...and had quite a lovely afternoon....No cooking for me....everyone brought their own snacks and drinks...after they left, Boyfriend and I had a Ceasar Salad...crispy chicken thighs and roast veggies...
I was pooped!!
i received such lovely thoughtful gifts...a very very nice day indeed!!
Thank you all for your comments on my last post...
I enjoyed looking at the old photos and writing a short story about my Mom ♥️
Here is a picture of me with my two daughters and of course Miss V...
I can hardly believe how big she is getting...and so funny and smart, too ♥️
I sure hope you all had a great weekend...and got to spend some time with the ones you love...I did...and it feels wonderful ♥️
Enjoy the rest of your day...
Cheers! :o)

My Mother...Helen Mary...was born to Florence and Hugh...
In September 1921...in a small town called Port Hope,Ontario...
She was an only child...as her father died when she was only 3 months old...
The photo above of him holding her on her Christening day...
Is the only picture I have of them together...
I included a few pictures of Florence and Hugh...[grandparents]
Wasn't he just so handsome??? And...My Mom is the spitting image of her Mother...
The Christening gown was used by my 3 children, when they were baptized...
I loaned it to my late brother's wife, for their son's Christening, and unfortunately it was "lost"...:o(
My Mom grew up in Port Hope...
She...her Mother and Grandmother had a beautiful Victorian home there...
Lovely gardens...secret back staircases...
I loved it as a young child...I never knew my Grandmother...she passed away when my Mom was 19...but the house stayed with the family, as there was a cousin that my Mom grew up with...and OLD Grandmothers!!!
When Mom was around 13, she attended private school in Toronto...
Branksome Hall...
A very exclusive girls school...she was a Prefect there and was very active on the swim team...
I also attended Branksome Hall...but as a day student...it was a very long commute for me, as the Toronto subway systems were not built yet...and it was Streetcar all the way!
We wore Kilts...cream shirts and plaid ties...with black oxford shoes of course!!
When my Mom went there, it was more of a Midi blouse...quite sharp!!
After graduating from Branksome Hall....she studied Nursing at The Wellesley School of Nursing...
It is still there in Toronto...now as part of Ryerson University...
And graduated from there in 1940...
Her Mom had passed shortly before her graduation...:o(
She nursed in Toronto for a while...
And then joined the Army, and was stationed in Camp Borden...
Just north of Toronto... She had a lot of fun up there...tons of pics of that!!
After returning to Toronto...
She actually met my Dad...who was a patient...and the rest is History!
Here are my beautiful parents...in Las Vegas...MANY years ago...
Aren't they a snappy couple??
My Dad passed away in 1971...he was 67, Mom was 50...I was 21...
She remarried a few years later...and was married for 26 years when she died...
I was always thankful that she did not spend her life alone...
She adored her grandchildren...and especially mine!! of course...hahaha!!
My Dad would have loved the grandchildren as well...
But...I know they both are looking down...and are so pleased...
And...oh my gosh...Miss V would be so much fun for them...♥️
I did not intend for this to be a sad post...
I wanted to celebrate my Mom's life...I miss her every day...
Just to be able to talk things over would be wonderful...
She was always so understanding of me...I do believe we had a special bond...
I hope some day my daughters and granddaughter will feel the same for me...
Happy Mother's Day Mom...love you...
And to all of you Mothers...
Who work so hard at maintaining their families...
My hat goes off to all of you...
You are a very special bunch...indeed...
**************
For all of you who asked for an update...
Boyfriend home safe and sound late last evening...quite a memorable trip...
We are just leaving for the cottage...have a wonderful weekend...
And "Happy Mothers Day To All".....
Cheers! :o)
linda ♥️
Our first stop was "The FLower Store" better known as Mississauga Greenhouses!
I have taken you here before...LOVE this place!
So does Miss V! Good thing she had her sunglasses in her "packpack"...
And her new toy from Auntie Lissa and Uncle Jeff!!
We picked a few plants for my front planter...
I will buy a few more later...I like them "stuffed"...hahaha!
Next stop was the grocery store for some pizzas for dinner...
They did not have any plain cheese..{Miss V's fav}...
So...while they made us up a fresh one...
We strolled next door to Mastermind...a fabulous toy store...
It was quite a thrill for her...so many toys...so little time! hahaha!
After picking up the pizzas...and having lunch...
We got busy on planting up Nana's front planter... with the flowers we had picked out...Miss V likes pink...and blue...unfortunately no blue flowers that day...perhaps next trip...love blue Lobelia...
Gardening gloves.....✔️
rubber boots.....✔️
digger.....✔️
great enthusiasm....✔️
ponytail.....✔️
She enjoyed just digging up a wee bit of dirt with her "digger"...
And transferring it to another pot...
♥️
We put a couple of Cosmos into this old pot...she was thrilled...and..she found...
3 Snails!
She carefully placed them in the pot with the Cosmos...
{nobody inside tho'} tee hee hee
Got it all planted up!
Looks beautiful...will add more later!!
Then...it was time for a quick bike ride...gloves and all...♥️
She helped me put everything away...
And we came inside...washed our hands...and got busy baking...
Ooooops...already showed you these...just wanted to tempt you again!
After the cookies were in the oven...
I sliced up an apple...and Miss V relaxed watching Bubble Guppies...
While I cleaned up the mess in the kitchen!!
After her show...she got busy making her Mom a Mother's Day Card...
I cut a Crown shape out of felt...and we went from there...
She loves doing this so much...so proud of her, that she enjoys the simple things in life...what a future she has ahead of her...so glad to be part of it ♥️
She wrote her name...added some jewels and stickers...and we put it in an envelope...did not get the finished product...but...it was sweet!
When her Mom arrived...we chatted and then we had pizza...
What a great day it was...can't wait til I see her again...

Update on boyfriends progress...
His flights were rerouted a bit...
He will not be in Edmonton at all...
He will fly from Grande Prairie...to Calgary...to Winnipeg...to Toronto!!
He won't arrive until around 8pm...he will be pooped!!
I made some beef stew...hopefully it will hit the spot nicely...
He wants to go to the cottage Saturday morning and stay til Monday!
I said..."NO WAY!"....NOT!! Can't wait! A couple of days out there will be just what the Dr ordered!!

Hope this post wasn't too long...and that you enjoyed it!
