Staining the Deck and Scaaary Clouds...

Took a spin to the Lake today...to do
some staining....

Our beach deck was looking kinda
shabby...so we took this opportunity
to give it a coat of stain...

The weather was perfect..not too hot..
not too cold....but kinda windy...
which was good, as it was blowing the Maple keys the other way!!!!

This is how it looked before......can you see
our neighbours pirate flag in the background??? what's up with that???tee hee hee....

And this is how it looked after....looks great!!  :o)

It would have been nice to spend some time in the hammock...but not today...  :o(

This big guy was holding up traffic, but we finally got around him...

The clouds ALL the way home were crazy....lots of dark ones...but we didn't see any rain...

Took this one out the open sunroof...

This almost looked like a funnel cloud....to ME anyway...

Caught this sweet little chickadee having a drink in one of the bird baths beside the shed... don't worry...I changed the water...that is what it looks like whenever we return...bits of this and that...mostly those darn KEYS, from the maples....and his Mrs. had
just gone into the birdhouse on the left...but I just missed her with the camera....these houses are sitting on
the planter box on the shed...put them there temporarily...I actually painted
the one on the right...I guess they will have to stay for a while!!!

Did some thrift shopping as well....
More on that later...:o)

What did you do today?????
Let me know......

Hope you all enjoyed the relief in the weather...I know we need rain...but why on Friday???

            Cheers!             :o)

Cottage Garden Update.....

Had a few things in bloom last weekend....for the first time!!!

I have had this snowball bush for at
least 5 years, and this is the first year it bloomed...every other year it was devoured by some tiny insects... very
pleased with this display...:o)

Ditto for the purple phlox...when I noticed the buds a few weeks ago, I had no idea what it was...don't remember planting it...wonder where it came from???   Oh well....I will just enjoy...it is lovely tho, isn't it???

The Bridalwreath Spirea is in full bloom...I am sure with all this heat this week...it will be done very soon   :o(

Got a few more baskets planted up....added a few hostas that were buried under day lilies

This shot should certainly win an award or something...I was on my tippy toes, and didn't even see the baby robin until I downloaded my photos...nice!!

These Allums were buried as well...they finally got their heads above  the rest...

Perennial Sweet Peas looking good...

All lined up to get a drink....

Nearly done....will probably have to get some more stuff!!!

My boyfriend loves to feed the gulls....and they seem to love him...

Had a big bonfire....mostly from the hedge that we trimmed...don't you wish you could burn stuff in the city??? Remember when people used to burn their leaves in the fall??? I can smell it now....brings back memories...for sure...:o)

We finished the day with beef and chicken shish-ka-bobs...salt and ground black pepper sausages....wild rice and greek salad....deeeeeelish.....on the sun porch of course...with the beauty painted floor!!!

I spray painted these chairs purple...

                What do you think????

What kind of day did you have...

Hope it was a good one....

        CHeers              :o)

Back At Home...In The Garden

We actually had a pretty
busy time at home, last week....

We got the pool open...YEAH...always makes the back yard come to life...

We also had our favorite painter Elmer, over to paint the garage doors, and some woodwork on the upper story...I asked him to paint out the trim..used to be a bit lighter green, but with beige trim.....I like this a lot better...The gingerbread stands out better now on the garage door...Martha Stewart color ....of course...  Are there any other colors???? They will mix any paint from her color chips....My whole house is Martha's colors....LOVE THEM... :o)

Korean BlueBells are up....thanks to my sister for these...:o)
Woodland Geraniums are one of my favorites...flowers are short-lived, but the foliage stays green ALL YEAR...

Bleeding Hearts are nearly done...

Deep Pink Peony almost ready...

Another favorite....good old Geraniums....
I bought them at Wal-Mart....for a mere 97 cents each!!!! I bought 18 plants, for under $20....what a super buy that was....I am going to go back this week, and see if I can pick up a few more...  :o)

These are Mayapple....so petite and soft...I believe they came from my sister....AGAIN...along with a hydrangea, many years ago...thanks!!

We are babysitting Buddy again...my son has moved into his brand new home over the weekend....Isn't he sweet....nice to have a cat around again...if only for a visit....I must say, tho....I do not miss the fur{notice the throw under Buddy}...or the litter.........

Hope you all had a great.....STEAMY.....HOT....STICKY....day!!

                                Cheers!             :o)
