Hope you are all well...and surviving this brutally cold Winter so far...
We have been in the frigid -30c temps for weeks now...
It is supposed to break early next week...and then it will rain!
I have been keeping busy around here...Mostly Bird watching! hahaha!!
Seriously...I got Christmas packed away for another year...
And then our central vacuum went on the hummer!!
We get a new unit on Tuesday...we have had it for over 30 years, so I guess it did it's job pretty well...
We also ordered a new front door, which is supposed to come mid January...
Very excited about that...totally different look with the new door!!
Our Miss V had been away for 10 days, so we are looking forward to seeing her next weekend...and hearing her stories from her trip...
Got a delicious cake made the other day...
I had put the recipe here a few years back...Blueberry Buttermilk Breakfast Cake...but you can really use any berries you have...I used some frozen Blackberries in this one....very tasty, indeed!!
Well...it actually seems a bit brighter this evening...it is 5:10 right now...
And it really does seem brighter outside than other evenings...
Guess the longer days are starting to kick in....FINALLY!!
Knock on wood...we have not been sick...I hear that lots of people have a horrible flu, but we have been able to elude it so far...
Fingers crossed our luck continues.....
I grabbed a pic of the Moon the other night....glorious!!
I have a nice roast beef in the oven, and the house is starting to smell delicious...
Enjoy your evening...
See you soon...
Cheers! :o)
linda ♥️
We have such different birds here. Yours are more colourful! Beautiful picture of the cardinal. At least I think it’s a cardinal.
ReplyDeleteYup! Cardinal....
DeleteWhen one is ONE with their camera...miracles appear. That's what I feel when I looking at all you photos. The birds..oh my ~ what beauties.
ReplyDeleteThe berry coffee cake looks delicious...I just smell the coffee I put on a few minutes ago, can you email me a piece of that cake...haha.

DeleteGlad you enjoyed the cake....
beautiful photos you take, utterly breath taking! I feel your pain for this cold, hasn't it been terrible, minus 41 here this morning but like you said a warmup soon, no rain for us but at least out of the deepfreeze! I think you must be anxious to have your miss Vee back,, lol that sounds delicious with blackberries, I love black berries but they are a bit acid for me, I have something called silent reflux disease,, never had heart burn in my life but apparently my esophagus isn't working properly so no berries for me,,take care my friend, keep warm, don't forget to show us your new door, I remember when I had replaced our front door, it was the year before we sold up and moved, I loved that door and wanted to bring it lol,, to an apartment,, I don't think so lol,,
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the berries....I eat berries every single day!
DeleteI will def show you the front door!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend Laurie.....

ReplyDeleteWonderful photos . It has been so nasty and cold and our birdies have been feasting at the feeders like crazy which I love to see and watch them all the time . I am soo looking forward to spring and am done with this winter already , looking forward to a break of this cold later this week . I am enjoying the day light lasting a bit longer every evening now . Miggs is down and out with a injured leg so we are dealing with that poor dog we do miss our walks but she will be tip top by spring after her surgery soon. I bet Miss V has lots to tell from her trip . Thanks for sharing , Have a good week !

DeleteSpring is on its way!!
Gosh, such lovely birds. Hmm...they must all be hanging out at your yard, haven’t seen any here at all. I’m sure you’re looking forward to seeing Miss V. again. My New Yorkers will be here then too, having my belated birthday brunch with our blended families. Have a good week and hoping the weather cooperates.
ReplyDeleteDo you put seed out? That is the key!!
DeleteHave a great time with your families...and...Happy Birthday again!!
Hahaha. I realized after I posted my comment, that it kind of sounded silly, since we don’t put out seed. Thanks for your nice wishes and stay warm. Your down South time will be here before you know it. ☀️🌴

Hope you continue to escape the flu! We had a little cold but have missed the icky flu that is going around
down here, too!
Gorgeous moon! It's cloudy here!
HI Betsy...
DeleteExcited about the new door! Should be soon...I remember when we got a new garage door, it really spruced up the old place!
Enjoy your week...
Wonderful photos of the sweet birds, Linda. We have those little nuthatches here, too, and I think they are my favorite little birds. They are practically tame and fearless! Your blog header is amazing - so much snow. The cold weather is so frightening to hear about. It's been a long, long time since we have had such cold....knock on wood. I do remember a -25 Fahrenheit one Thanksgiving, though. Your cake looks scrumptious. There are so many nasty bugs going around, and luckily we have been spared, too. Hope you continue to have good health and that the weather warms up soon and you have fun with your dear little Miss V! xo Karen
ReplyDeleteNuthatches are so cute...and I think the Chickadees are my favourites!
