A Few Fancy...Fabulous..Fall Grasses...

This particular Miscanthus greets you as you approach the kitchen porch...

These 2 very tall Miscanthus are right at the fence line...They don't have their plumes as yet...but will show you again when they do!!! These are about 12 feet tall!!

This Miscanthus is a transplant, from the big ones surrounding the deck...I dug it up in the spring, and planted it here, in the beach garden. I will dig it up, and either transplant it, or over-winter in a big pot...They are VERY difficult to divide, but I was lucky enough to cut off a few fresh shoots, when rearranging the dirt form the deck!
There are 2 of these bushier, more compact Miscanthus, on either side of the new deck...These don't send out runners like the larger Miscanthus, and keep their nice round shape...

I have at least a dozen of these Sea Oats Grass...and they spread like crazy!!! They seem to re-seed everywhere, which is fine with me!! Another nice grass to clip, and add to my winter arrangements...

These were all taken last Friday...

On a very dull day...

Except for that one glimmer of hazy sun.....

At the end of the day....

Hope you all had a fabulous day!!!

And...

That you enjoyed a few of my grasses...

                                     Cheers!  :o)

On This First Day Of Autumn....Let's Celebrate The Last Few Days Of Summer.....

Went to the cottage on Friday...

For...

What turned out to be...

A...

Short visit.....

But first...

Let's visit the gardens....shall we?

The Watermelons keep popping out...

But never get to amount to much...

If I grow them next year, I will do some homework, on how to deter critters!!!

Staying in the beach garden...

A few surprises have sprung up recently...

As this soil was from my upper gardens, {when the deck addition went in} I guess some seeds came along for the ride...

Here are some Hollyhocks...I must transplant these, as this hill of dirt will not survive the waves of winter on the beach...

Also a few more Mullions...I really like this Native plant...so she will get uprooted as well...

AND... the nicest suprise of all...

Was..

This gorgeous Datura..

I had noticed it growing before...but lost track of it under all the vines and such with the melons...

Ain't she a beauty!!

I think I will bring her home, and get her into the ground here...

Let her drop her seeds, and grow happily at home!!

WIth the thinning of the melon and cucumber vines...I spotted this plant tag...

I guess what I had planted was Honeydew Melons...

No wonder the Raccoons...or whoever...

Loved to munch on them!!

Tiny Sunflower still going strong!!!

Also still flowering on the beach...

Pink Phlox...very hardy...

Milkweed getting ready to do it's thing!

It was a strange day weatherwise....
Humid....then cool...then windy...then sunny...then HOT!!!

The White Phlox was giving me it's second flush of dainty white flowers...

The Miscanthus is putting on a good show...

Noticed a few plumes...

Will share that later...

I really like the way this pathway...to the new deck...turned out...

Almost like entering a secret garden at the other side...

One of the Coleus had flowered...Such a dainty flower...And check out the green and black polka-dot bug!!

HAHAHA!!!

A few more luscious wee tomatoes...

We ate this while sitting on the deck!!!

What a delicious and healthy snack!

The Bees and Flies..{apparently}...were very busy in the Sedums..

I had no idea the Flies were interested in Nectar...Did you??

The day faded into night...

A very cloudy evening...indeed...

And another surprise in the morning...

The roof...ABOVE OUR BED...decided to leak, during that torrential rain...

                                  OH HAPPY DAY!!!!

The mattress and box spring were soaked at the bottom...

And the carpet on my boyfriends side of the bed was soggy...:o(  :o(   :o(

Called our handyman...and he will climb up there tomorrow and have a look!!

We replaced the roof 15 years ago...so...

Not sure what the repair will entail...

                                        TO BE CONTINUED!!!

Hope you all had a great weekend...

Boyfriend has a cold...probably have breakfast for dinner...

               Peameal bacon...scrambled egg whites...homefries...

Enjoy the rest of your day......

                                 Cheers!    :o)

Presenting.......The Furry Acrobat!!

The other morning..

I was admiring my Miscanthus grass from inside my kitchen...

This is only it's second year...

And it is performing wonderfully...

I have a secret passion for growing grasses...

I even cut tall stalks from my cottage grasses...

To bring home, for the winter season...

To decorate the yard...

I am just a sucker for those big plumes!!!

Do you grow any large grasses in your garden?

The cottage ones are HUGE...

Tall and silky...

                                                     *************

While daydreaming about Grasses...

Something Furry entered my sightline...

I had put a handful of bird seed into the feeder...

And of course...

Within what seemed like seconds...

The Furry Acrobat appeared...

He put on quite a show for me..

Stnding in my housecoat...

In the kitchen!!!

"Thanks Linda....nice housecoat!!!"

 hahaha!

                                       ********

I hope you are all having a great day....

We are off to the cottage...

Enjoy your weekend....see you all later!

                                  Cheers!  :o)

If Only Today Were As Pleasant As Yesterday....

 Yesterday...

My friend D came for a cup of tea...

She brought her own lunch...

As she says. she has been eating all summer...

And needs to lose some weight!!

Yeah...right!

She is a fitness instructor..

Tall and lean...

NO reason to lose weight!!!

We usually have one of my banana-blueberry loaves...

BUt..she said...NO!

Allright already...relax!

So...

She brought a spinach salad...

And I had some chicken salad...

Made from that slow-cooked chicken the other night...{gosh...that was a great idea}

And a 1/2 sliced tomato...

Along with a cup of tea.....and  nice big glass of ice water with a lemon slice...

She did agree to some strawberries....raspberries...bananas...and no-fat vanilla yogurt...

Topped off with one of Miss V's Arrowroot cookies!

We chatted from 12:30 'til 3:30!!!

Non-stop gab fest...mostly me...of course!!! I don't get out much! hahaha!

It was a lovely relaxing day...sitting in the sun in the kitchen...

Ahhhhhhhh...that was so nice and relaxing...

Whereas today...

Guess where I went AGAIN?!

YUP.......Wal-MArt!!!

Drove to the better one...guess what???

"We should be getting that chunky wool in very soon....perhaps tomorrow"

                                       TOMORROW???
I was so disappointed...but I did pick up a couple of other things...

I got some white cotton 4 ply...to crochet a pillow...will share shortly!!

SO......I drove over to MY Wal-Mart...as I had some pictures printed...

And I happened to go back to the wool aisle there...and...

Lo...and....Behold....they had a scruffy ball of the Chunky that I was looking

for!!!! Looks like some body had opened the bag...they had the regular price

on it...sooooooo...I found the Mgr of that dept...and got it reduced to 1/2

price!!!                       YAY!!!!!!!!!!

I can now finish the afghan...and I have enough of other stuff to do a nice edging......

                          WHAT A DAY!!!!!!!!
 The best part, was when I picked up Miss V...and brought her for a visit with Nana and Papa...{that is what she calls us!!!}

Got this shot of the Harvest Moon last night.....Fantastic,eh??

                                                                    ******

Hope you all had a great day...

How do you like my new header???

Started out cloudy and damp...the sun came out around 3pm...

Turned into a beautiful day!
