On Monday, we took a drive...
We went to Port Colbourne...
A small town near the cottage on the North East shores of Lake Erie..
We stopped for Chinese food, and then made our way to the cottage...along the road that runs adjacent to the Lake, and finally runs past our cottage...
The skies were much brighter in Port, and as we neared the cottage it became increasingly darker...
As you can see...there is still a lot of Fall colour...no snow that day...or before...
When we reached the cottage, there was a brisk East wind blowing...bitterly cold...
The Lake was fairly calm...and very low..lots of sand and pebbles leading into the water...as you can see the sky was trying to be bright...but to no avail...
Inside was lovely...
Just as we had left it...
But....cold...
I stripped our bed...
Brought the flannel sheets and cosy blanket home to wash...
All ready for our New Years Eve sleepover!!
We left the furnace on 55F...just to keep the chill out...
I have my menu all planned...
And a big fire in mind!!
This was the scene here at home last night...
My wreath on the front door was covered in blowing snow...
And...Rudolph has a snowy jacket on!!
Rainy...damp...dark...dreary...
Nothing pretty to photograph, as the rain made everything soggy!!
How was your day???
Back to normal yet???
Tomorrow is "Wednesday with Miss V"...can't wait!!
And...an added bonus...SLEEPOVER!!!
What shall we do???
Perhaps I will enlist her help to take the ornaments off the tree...
Enjoy your evening...
Cheers! :o)

We had a big snow storm today. It is a winter wonderland here. Your photos are wonderful and I love to see your cozy cottage. :) Enjoy the week and your day with V. Deb
ReplyDeleteYours sounds prettier than ours!
DeleteWill enjoy Miss V♥️
We have sooooo much snow..started during the night..still going..I had plans..canceled.
ReplyDeleteIt's a winter wonderland but greyish ..well dark right now..so no sparkles yet..hope to get my snowshoes or skis on soon..so darn cold though ..and still windy..you need the marshmallows for the sleepover;)
Have a ball..I love those nights.
we both like white Ikea Ektorp line I guess:)
Really? That much? We had the snow...very heavy...then rain....now soggy mess...
DeleteMust buy some marshmallows...hahaha!
Yes....Ektorp for the cottage...cheap! Washable slipcovers!
We always have fun when we have sleepovers....washed her sheets too♥️
Hmm..Rudolph and his snowy jacket look very familiar. :) My niece from Richmond Hill made it here for lunch, thankfully just rainy driving weather. Made a delish carrot soup for this boyfriend and I tonight, good time of the year for comfort food. Have fun with little Miss V. tomorrow, have you ever taken her to the library? Since I just remembered that she loves books...
ReplyDeleteNice day to have company....floors finished? No fitness today?
DeleteNot to the library yet...must do that!
Enjoy your evening...
Nope, I decided to wait until you come to classes....just kidding! I was there yesterday, they're doing the floors in our usual room this week, so the class was in the smaller upstairs room. And our home floors are all finished....whew....lots of floor news...
DeleteWhat class is on Monday? Wendy?
DeleteI need to start back next week...I will let you know if I need you to save a spot for me near the back!
Yup, Wendy at 10:10 on Monday. Let me know, always fun to share the back with you. :)
DeleteWill do...if I am feeling better :o(
DeleteAbout time you guys got some snow! Sheesh, we are adrift with it - great skiing, but enough already! Hope you are able to have a fun New Years Eve at the cottage!
ReplyDeleteThanks Devon.....you guys home yet?
DeleteSuch changeable weather and poor Rudolph . . . if I was him I would have a blue nose . . . brrr.
ReplyDeleteThe weather here was ok during the day but turned decidedly 'grotty' this evening with gale force winds blowing and scattering all the refuse sacks awaiting collection tomorrow. I feel sorry for the folk in Yorkshire, North of England because they have been flooded for the 'umpteenth' time this winter. We are having gales blown from across the Atlantic, courtesy of USA. Can't wait for good weather again . . .
Have fun with Miss V. . . :)
Hi Eddie....
DeleteI saw the flooding on the news....horrible.....especially at this time of year..:o(
Will do!
Awful grey day here . . . very depressing!
DeleteLet's look forward to the new year, Happy New Year to you.
Like my beard? . . . lol
I'm so jealous! We're cold, windy and very grey but no snow yet!
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks pretty on your wreath!
Hope the cottage is fun later this week....flannel sheets and a roaring fire
should do the trick!
Flannel and fire...2 of my favourite things♥️
DeleteOh shoot. I just lost my entire comment. Let me see if I can repeat it, in Reader's Digest form.
ReplyDeleteCabin looks oh so cozy. Love the fireplace. Reminds me our cabin growing up.
Miss V...so cute in her new "do" and all excited for Christmas!
Congrats on the news! Yay....a wedding to plan! So exciting!
Just you and the boyfriend to ring in the new year at the cottage?
xo Kris
Hi Kris!
DeleteYup.....just me and the boyfriend....you?
Linda, your photo's take me to another world. How I love seeing your part of the world. Your home looks so cozy and inviting. Feel like I could just jump up on the couch and snuggle in and take a nap. Sending Love and Hugs for a wonderful New Year.
ReplyDeleteWanda...the cottage is like another world to me too!!
DeleteThanks for always being a lovely peep...
Happy New Year to you and your boyfriend!!
winter found us as well, your photos of the pebbles and water are such a fav of mine,,enjoy your day with Miss V ,
ReplyDeleteWhy thanks Laurie...that means a lot coming from a fine artist like you!
DeleteI love flannel sheets in the winter. The way it feels right now, I'm not sure we are going to have winter. It was in the 70's today and we expect the same for tomorrow with rain. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteNever say never Laurie! We were snow free until last night!
DeleteMust be beautiful out at the Lake! I am jealous!
Looks like a great drive to the cottage. I find it's nice to see favourite places at different seasons. We used to visit a cottage near Algonquin during March Break - what a difference from summer and that wonderful wood stove! Thanks for your kind comments. No, i'm not on Instagram. Should i be?
ReplyDeleteHi Furry....
DeleteAbsolutely....you should be on Instagram! Your photos are fabulous!
Look me up if you join...
Happy New Year!
I think the cottage looks wonderful---I love the way Mother Nature keeps up the mix! And your home looks so cozy, I love the stone wall around the fireplace...very much the same as ours. Flannel sheets and blankets, yum!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous New Years in your beautiful place! :)
Jane x
May be here at home after all...not feeling that great :o(
DeleteWhat lovely photos - I never tire of looking at your lake Linda. Always dramatic and beautiful. Here's to a bit of snow! Cheers, P.
ReplyDeleteWhy thanks Patricia...snow is still here!
Deletewow.
ReplyDeleteprobably not that often you get to see the new year in at the cottage in an overnight stay!
hope the weather keeps cooperating.
our next big storm is coming in from the west coast.
the ice has melted and ready for more i guess. just that time of year.
at least it's not tornadoes... like the south has had. WEIRD!
beautiful pictures. that wreath picture could be a christmas card... just lovely.
Would love to sleep over...but it might not happen after all...
DeleteI see lots of horrible storms down in the US...
Glad you are safe...
The cottage looks very cozy Linda. I hope you enjoy a great NYE sleepover there and, your sleepover with Miss V today. We have no plans for NYE at all but are tossing around the idea of going to see Star Wars. Not sure if I want to breathe in all the germs in the air there!! Ha! Have a great day. Hope the sun comes out for you to brighten things up.
ReplyDeleteMiss V is napping right now...PHEW! Busy as a bee!!
DeleteMay just drive out, and turn the furnace off...we'll see...
No sun today...still the darn gloom...
It is always amazing how a bit of sunshine brightens up an otherwise dull and dream landscape.
ReplyDeleteWe had some sunshine this morning, but the dull and dreary has settled in this afternoon.
Dull and dreary here too...except for the bright Miss V♥️...not too cold though!
DeleteThis little contraption is notorious for changing what I've typed into something I didn't mean to say. Like "dream..."
DeleteI'm guessing dreary was the word! Hahaha!
DeleteMy IPad does the same thing...
Yes. My laptop is better behaved. Usually.
Delete:0)
Beautiful pictures Linda!! Many times I dont go to the beach, I missed.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Happy new year!
Hugs and Happy New Year to you Gloria!
DeleteMiss V and I made cookies today!
Love all your photos ! Amazing to see lake Erie so calm and very low to ! It has been damp and dull here to I have been fighting some cold or flu type bug but am slowly taking down the Christmas decorations and slowly starting on the spring things about lol ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good day and a Happy New Year to you all !
ReplyDeleteI am fighting something too Elaine....might be no sleepover...will pack Christmas away this weekend!
DeleteI always enjoy your photos, be they home or cottage. I am so tired of the darkness during the day. Need some rays soon!
ReplyDeleteI did have a bright spot tonight, though, as I was invited next door to my neighbours for a delicious lasagna dinner! We traded gifts and had a great chat. I love then dearly and it was a wonderful evening. Sampled some ginger liqueur - sooooo good.
Hope you're feeling better soon and whether you spend New Year's at the cottage or at home, I wish you and the boyfriend a very happy and prosperous one! xxxooo. <3
Oh me too Suzanne....another dreary one today :o(
DeleteLucky you, enjoying food with friends!
At home for sure...thanks for your wishes...same to you my dear!
