February at The Cottage...Then & Now...

 Last February at the cottage...2015...

The Lake was completely frozen over...

Tons of snow....

So beautiful and peaceful...

Last Friday at the cottage...just at the end of January...close enough,eh?

Lake is wide open...only a wee bit of ice left on the rocks...

A far cry from the year before...

Boyfriend found this "Ice Face" on the beach...

Pretty cool,eh??

It was bright and sunny...

We were tempted to get our chairs out, and sit in the sun!!

As promised...

More glorious flowers...

This beauty is a Zucchini blossom...

Quite the delicacy in some parts of the world...

I am a sucker for the beauty of the blossom....

A few of my baskets I planted for my deck and surrounding areas...

And...a most special Tulip that comes up every year at the cottage...only 1...but isn't she a beauty??

Such colour.... ♥️

Hope you are all having a great day...

Had sunshine all day...but chilly...clouding over now, and a big rain storm is expected into the night...

Be safe and warm...wherever you are...

Welcome to my new followers...so glad to have you here...

                         Cheers!  :o)

  1. Wow! The snow is beautiful. And it does make everything look so serene. That tulip is unusual, but beautiful. How cold was it there? Fog is rolling in at the beach right now, but it's still 60'ish. Tomorrow...storms. Have a great evening, Linda.

  4. Hi Linda - Love that view of your cottage behind the snowy tree, and the little blue birdhouse covered in snow! Gorgeous beach scenes, too. The flowers have me wishing for spring....but I found my first daffodil bud today! We are having a crazy, mild winter this year. Watch, as soon as the daffy's bloom, we will get a blizzard! :) xx Karen

  5. Not as cold maybe but still cold . . . brrr
Lake frozen over last year . . . I wonder if anyone is brave enough or foolhardy enough to walk across it. Juist thinking of the consequences . .

    Lovely photos as ever . . . :)

    1. Hi Eddie....
You British are such weather wimps! You would think with all the rain and damp you get over there, that you would be tougher!
When the sun is shining.....the temp doesn't matter!
You can ice skate...and ice fish...and skidoo!

    2. haha . . . well I suppose if I was there I would wrap up well . . .
Agree about when the sun is shining life is good . . .

My dad once skated the full length of Lake Windermere in The Lake District . . . during a VERY cold spell . .

    3. Yes . . . not very professionally but I can (or could) go backwards and cross my legs going round corners and doing quick side stops.

Interestingly when I was in my first job an older colleague was called Fred Cousins who said his son had started ice skating and was showing a lot of promise. That boy was to be non other than the great World Champion Robin Cousins . . . :)

      Do you skate?

    4. I did...I can...I might again!

      I had a feeling you might be a skater . . :)

  10. Linda...those first few pictures of your cottage and the lake from last winter should be printed and made for holiday cards. They are extraordinary. If we have snow before Christmas and I get shots, I will do it. I never realized how gorgeous these scenes are to others (like me!).

Love your blooms. Enjoy each day. :)

  11. Snow makes a wonderful subject for photos. Your cottage looks so snug under the heaps of sugar :) Don't you miss it just a little? At least you have less worries in winter for your cottage, like clearing off the roof! Pretty flowers, and you'll see that tulip very soon now.

  12. Quite a difference in a year. I've been looking back at last year's photos too. It's pouring of rain this morning, was ice to the north of us which caused all those school buses to be cancelled. Cute header photo.
