It seems he/she must be nest building, as she/he frequents the grasses outside our cottage...
While sunning today, I was able to zoom in, and capture these photos...
We keep hoping he/she will break into song.....but no such luck....:o(
Mockingbirds imitate hundreds of other birds songs....it is truly a treat for the ears....
Perhaps the music will commence before our departure....what a show it is!
The clouds blew away, and we had brilliant sunshine....
Unfortunately, we are back to cooler temps....and a very brisk north wind...
Hope you all had a great day....
Many thanks to you all for joining me on my trip....
Not too boring I hope! Hahaha!
The weekend is on our doorstep....what do you have planned?
Enjoy your evening.....
Cheers! :o)
linda ♥️
what a pretty bird. Love the little white chest. I hope it is building a nest and you get to see a little of that action. The wind is really picking up here and more snow in the near future. We are slippin' & sliding since the icy storm. Busy wknd ahead and hoping for that new grand to appear. :)
ReplyDeleteKeep me posted on the new arrival!
DeleteThe Mockingbird's here are plentiful, and I dare say, a nuisance! They chase away my smaller songbirds, and they can be quite a bother with their repeated songs!! But I love birds. All birds really. They are very sleek and handsome to look at. I am thrilled that is about nesting season. Bird nerd that I am and all.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your more than kind comments on my quilt top. You could do it too. Just takes patience.
XO Kris
My Florida friend told me that....shame....they are a novelty to me!
DeleteAw, what a pretty bird! So cute. And it is never boring with you, Linda!
ReplyDeleteYou're the best, Martha!
Deleteoh my gosh.
ReplyDeletenational geographic needs to know about you and your camera.
how is this for loyalty? i'm here in florida where it's cold and damp... and...
doc martin is on!!!
and mrs tischel at the drug store just asked the doc if he approves
of using maggots to clean a wound. LOLOL!
now.
i shall check out the posts i've missed! you are more important by far!
XOXOXO♥
You are too funny Tammy....
DeleteMissing Doc Martin here...and Downton!
Pretty bird. I love the white piping on her/his feathers. Looks like a tailored jacket!
ReplyDeleteOff to see The Marriage of Figaro on Saturday. Saw Siegfried a few weeks ago and it was brilliant. Not a huge Mozart fan but this is a somewhat controversial production so who knows.
You are a social butterfly Suzanne! Enjoy!
DeleteI hope that he/she breaks into song very soon for you!! xx
ReplyDeleteME too!
DeleteWhat beautiful shots you got of the mockingbird! They are so sleek with those long tails. I have seen one here only once, and it was his song that grabbed my attention. I was at a busy playground, but could hear it through all the noisy kids. Finally saw him and got a couple of photos for identifying him. Maybe your bird isn't singing if he/she already has a mate and is being quiet while they build their nest. Birds like to keep these things secret ... sshhhh ;)
ReplyDeleteBack to -12C this morning ... brrr! Enjoy your weekend!
Wendy
Brrrrr to you! I thought you were warming again?
DeleteEnjoy your weekend.....
I like the mockingbird's stance in that last photo, almost like she is challenging you to take her picture. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteHa!

DeleteBonne weekend Monique!
There was a lone Mockingbird in our area a few summers ago and it was fun to listen to him sing but not at sunrise! I don't know what ever became of it as it had no mate. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou too Pam!
DeleteOh WOW ! lovely photos to add to your birdie collection . I hope he sings for you soon that would be lovely . We are in the clear and sunny sky's now after the rain and snow storms that hit thankfully we didn't get much snow at all more rain then anything , signs of spring are popping up now so I am happy and the sun rises earlier and sets after 6pm now so I am loving that to . This weekend is to be sunny and mild WHOOHOO ! Thanks for sharing , have a good weekend !
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend Elaine!
DeleteBeautiful shots . . . :)
ReplyDeleteHi Eddie...
DeleteThanks...it was fun taking them!
Oh, love! Love your bird pictures. I've had a mockingbird visit the lake, but no songs there, either. Went back to the doctor today. Round two of antibiotics. So, I'll be resting the weekend away, while knitting some dishcloths. Hope you have a great one.
ReplyDeleteOh dear...that doesn't sound good...take care Laurie...have some chicken soup! I think I'll make a pot today, kinda chilly!
DeleteSorry about your "Wordless, Wet, Wednesday" earlier this week. But that's a sweet photo of you laughing. I agree, the mockingbird is quite handsome. Getting organized for a bunch here on Sunday with friends. Was sorry to read in one of your comments that you haven't seen Downton Abbey. The finale's on March 6th, I'll really miss it! Have a nice weekend....
ReplyDeleteWe programmed it to record....and Doc Martin....fingers crossed it works!
DeleteHave fun on Sunday!
What outstanding bird pictures. Sorry I've been absent from commenting....long story...too busy, but think I'm working out a blog schedule that won't be such a rollercoster. Several new things that are taking my time...(not bad) Just more......
ReplyDeleteI missed a lot of your delicious meals.....but know you are still teasing us with your cooking talent. Company tomorrow, so I'm working on a menu. Did make a Pumpkin Cake with Cream Cheese frosting. Life is short...so I made the dessert first...HaHa.
Hugs
Hi Wanda...long time no see! Glad you are keeping busy....keeps you young!
DeleteThat cake sounds scrumptious!
Enjoy your company....
Mockingbirds are such striking birds - they really do look very intelligent! Great photos - I hope he/she sings for you! We don't have them here in WA and I've never heard one, but someday I hope to. x Karen
ReplyDeleteThey are! Love the tail when it stands up straight! Saw 2 of them being "frisky" yesterday...hahaha! Guess that nest will come in handy!
DeleteHave a great weekend Karen!
One year, not too far back( eight years isn't too far, is it?), we had a mockingbird nest in one of our apple trees. Mama did not like me peeking at her eggs and commenced dive-bombing which kept me on my toes. What I love, and my husband does not, is the song of the mockingbird, calling for a mate, in the dark of night. I hope you get to hear yours sing.

Mockingbird Song in the Dark
DeleteHI Martha...nothing yet...video wouldn't play...thanks for the thought!
DeleteHow are you doing?
Aw. It works on my laptop. Maybe it will work when you get home.
DeleteI am so late getting to my visiting and commenting . . .
ReplyDeleteMaybe in my lateness your Mockingbird is singing up a special song . . .
just for you . . .
Unfortunately not Lynne....I think they are nesting!
