  4. LOLOL! that's because all your snow has decided to hit the northeastern US this year!
    it's giving you a break.
    and oh cc girl.
when i came here and that darling wee sparrow face greeted me first thing!!!
such an adorable little fellow so up close and personal!
    they are my favorites.
they're not all bright and flashy and maybe no one would call them gorgeous.
but they get along well with others. they're not bullies.
and they're the little common folk of the bird world. i just love them.
so thank you. and... the begonias aren't half bad either! LOLOL!
    XO♥

  7. Hi Linda - nice weather you are having and so different from your pics of last year, although I think the snow is beautiful, especially when you can view it from a comfortable place at the window! :) Lovely little birdies and those begonias are one of my favorite flowers...like roses that will grow in the shade. I love your cardinal photos, too. We don't have them here - such amazing birds. We are having a mild winter here in Western Washington State, so far, although today was cool - barely out of the 30's. Take care - I will stop by your lovely blog again! (New follower) xx Karen

  8. Beautiful photos from last year. What a difference from this year. The sun spilling in to your kitchen looked so warm and inviting. We've had several wonderful days. Sunny and 68 degrees Farenheit today. It was gorgeous. Hopefully, you will have equally nice days on your vacation.

  10. Amazing before and afters. Crazy weather! Personally, I miss winter but I'm in the vast minority. Just doesn't seem right.
    Those are candy-coloured flowers!
I bet you're getting excited for your trip. Did you get the fun image in an e-mail I sent a while ago about the loonie? Hope so!

  11. Beautiful photos again,Linda...I love the cardinal, have never seen a real one!! Very hot here, we have had endless days of 26 deg C plus, it's quite exhausting! Grandson T had his first day at school yesterday and little sister G started pre school today, they grow up so fast....am planning an Italian dinner for some of my family this week...homemade spinach and ricotta ravioli, tomato sauce made with our homegrown tomatoes, and a tiramisu ice cream to finish off !!! Enjoy your day with Miss V, we will have our two precious ones after school each Wednesday starting next week! such fun....X

  12. What a lovely way to begin February. Alsolutely beautiful pictures. I think this is going to be a good month.

I was gone all weekend with a couple of my daughters....my dearest was happy to have me home....he was looking forward to dinner, so I made one of his favorites. Panko crusted tilapia, fresh green beans with saute onions and mushrooms and little red potatoes with butter and parsley. Real special...a glass of wine.

  14. Wow, what a difference a year makes! You are having an easy time of it this winter, that's for sure! Hardly winter at all. The begonia pictures are glorious - love them!

  15. I echo Devon's comment, "what a difference a year makes." Love the photo of the sun beaming into your kitchen, so cozy. Yes, Downton was quite a spectacle. It was fun reading comments on a Downton Abbey Facebook page. Everyone was very worried about Lord Grantham and nobody seems to like Lady Mary, too snobby. Have fun with Miss V. tomorrow...

  17. And which winter do you prefer? I think I'd like more snow, but maybe not those bone aching freezing temps of last winter! I hope you don't miss out on our Spring! I have the same grass as you around our pond, but the fronds all got blown away in the winds. Yours looks nice and fluffy :)

No fear....ill be back for that!
These grasses are right outside my kitchen....more sheltered from the winds...the ones at the cottage are raggedy!

  20. Linda, I can't believe the difference in the weather there (and at the cottage) from last year this time. It's much the same here too I guess although it's snowing today and will change to rain this evening. Tomorrow may reach +12! Really strange. I am enjoying seeing your summer blooms. The colour is so beautiful with our boring landscape right now. Have a great day! Hugs.
