Who would believe it?
We met in 1967...I was dating his best friend at the time...
By early 1968...we were dating...
The pictures below were taken at Sayvette's on Dixie Rd...
Does anyone remember Sayvette's???
I believe it was even before Towers...another name from the past..
The one on the left was in June 1978...
The far one was taken in July 1979 as well...
probably at the EX....
The next one was at my cottage on Lake Simcoe...July 1979...
And....for the record...yes...I did sew Greg's jams....I used to make him quite a few things, as I sewed almost my whole wardrobe...in those days... :o)
Then we started going to Sorority Formals...yes...I made my dresses...the top one was pink Dotted Swiss...loved it...the bottom one was a bit "sexier" a shiny fabric....love the ringlets, eh?? Greg wore boots, and his Mom said he looked like he was going to a rodeo!!!
These 2 were taken at Greg's cottage in Jackson's Point...at the beach and at his cottage...and yes, yes, yes....I made the Jams he is wearing!!! I must have lived at Fabricland in those days!!! |
Ryan, Lissa and Erika....our 3 kids :o) |
And I know you have all met Vivian...:o)
And here we are today...
well...not really TODAY..!
Last February in Florida...
Still my boyfriend...
After 40 years of marriage...
Ups and downs...
I still love him...
And my kids especially...:o)
The scanner has opened new doors to me...
Perhaps I will take you down memory lane again...
We had planned to stay over at the cottage, and go to the local restaurant for a fish dinner...and then drive down to Pelee Island for a few days...but the stupid septic got in the way....Oh well...not that important...we have reservations at the Keg this evening....and that is always delicious...who could ask for anything more!?....right Vivian... :o)
Hope you all had a good weekend....We did!!!!
Cheers! :o)
linda
How lovely to see photos from your past. I had made a very similar pattern to your sexier shiny fabric dress, but mine was orange. Oh those were the days. The date of the post threw me off a bit, 9/9/72 and then met dated in '78
ReplyDeleteI remember Sayvettes and then Towers. I used to go to one in Scarborough and there was a walk over bridge to other stores. Haven't thought about that in a long time. There was still a Towers here in town when we moved here in '81, long gone now, changed to a Zellers and then a call center. One of these days I'll scan our old photos.
It has been a great weekend.
Thanks Linda......I fixed the dates...Even though I proofread 100 times, I can't believe I missed that!
ReplyDeleteOur eyes are getting older, we read one thing, type something else, and think something else.
DeleteOur timeline is about the same, and we married in '69
so true....
DeleteThanks for the blast from the past! We are from the same era... got married to MY high school sweetheart in 1967...one year after graduation! Loved the old pictures too! I'm very much the family "historian" for both of our families, and I always love finding those old pictures. Amazing how many people never kept up with them! Thanks again for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNo problem Don...glad to have you back...cool pics, tho, eh??
ReplyDeleteFab pictures from the past. I have to say, I think you too look better now than you did then! Truly!
ReplyDeleteCome on....maybe Greg....But I certainly look like an old hag now...:o(
DeleteOh what a fun bunch of pictures! Loved all of them! You know, you've always said your 'boyfriend' and seriously...I didn't think you were married to him! lol. Glad to know the truth now...hahahaha.....what a beautiful bride you were!
ReplyDeletehahaha...that's a good one Betsy!!! I always call him my boyfriend, 'cause that was how it all started!!
Deletehaha...well, that's really cute...but I took you literally! :) Happy 40, too! How neat!
DeleteThanks Betsy...I have always called him that...the kids think it is hilarious!!
Delete40 years...we celebrate ours next month... Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bev...same to you!!!
DeleteWow, I sure enjoyed this post and all your, ahem, 'vintage' photos! Totally cool!! Congratulations to you both on 40 years together! You both look great in the recent photos and of course Vivian is a cutie patootie! A lovely couple indeed. Blessings to you. Pam
ReplyDeleteOh Pam...you say the nicest things!!!
DeleteCrikey! How Stunning !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super family you are, seeing the generations and sharing your memories... Truly wonderful Linda. Your happiness is evident to see and that makes my heart sing, as well as seeing little Vivian too.
What a joy to see... and the history of the cottage and how it has been an important part of your lives. I feel as though I have read a romantic novel.. Best Wishes LisaX
Oh Lisa....you always say such nice things...
DeleteGuess that is why I like you sooo much...blogger buddy!!!
Have a great week...
Congratulations, Linda!!! How wonderful that you have been able to spend 40 years with your boyfriend. Quite an accomplishment in this day and age.
ReplyDeleteLooking back on the photos made me feel like I now know your whole family - love the wedding pictures! Your headpiece looks similar to the one I wore in 1975 - you were a stunning bride.
Sorry you didn't get to Pelee Island - if you ever go, stay at the Wavecrest B & B - fabulous place we discovered this summer.
Thanks Heather...That was where we were going to stay! We will get there yet!!
DeleteHoly Smokes!!! Awesome Linda! I remember that loooooong bloooooonde hair for sure! It was your pride and joy if I remember correctly. You are both looking pretty good after 40 years. The flowery bridesmaids' dresses are simply terrible....but at the time....I suppose we would have loved them!! Congratulations on a long happy marriage - they are rare!!
ReplyDeleteterrible, eh!!! At least most of them shortened them after, and actually wore them again!!! Thanks Ann...
DeleteVivian is still the best! Hoorraaay Grans! Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteYes she is...thanks for the sentiment...
DeleteReading this brought tears to my eyes. 40 years is a long time!
ReplyDeleteI love the tie and the bridesmaids dresses!
And of course, the prize in your Cracker Jacks of life, Vivian!
