Almost Done....sigh...

Today was another crazy...

Busy....

Productive day!!!

These stockings are the originals that are probably 35 years old....

I was unable to get the quilted gingham...apparently I was supposed to look "on-line"...

Which is not something I am very familiar with...

I am not an internet shopper...

BY any stretch of the imagination...

Anyway.....

This is what I came up with today...

Not quite as whimsical as I had imagined..

But....I felt it was important to try and keep the new stocking as close to the originals as possible...

I had originally used sequins for our eyes and button trim on the snowman bellies...

I had forgotten about that, until I pulled out the stockings the other day...

I looked for sequins at 2 different big chain stores...

But came up empty handed...

So.....

I went with big eyes [much like Vivian's]...

Still may cut out some black ones....not sure about that....

And used my buttons stash...for the tummy...

I haven't actually sewn the stocking together as yet....

Not sure if I am completely happy with the way the letters came out...

BUt....at least I am 99% finished...

I spruced up our old stockings with a fresh pom-pom centre for the holly...

I am sure that all will be delighted with that...:o)

While watching TV the other night...

I used up my ends of wool, and made my daughters golden retriever...LOLA...a scarf..

How cute is that???

ANd not to forget my little sweetie..

I made her a new hat...

With a giant pom-pom...

Hope she likes it!!!!

Hope you all had a great weekend...

Mine flew by...

Still no wrapping done....and still no shortbread...

BUt....there are only so many hours in a day...eh?

On the menu tonight is  roasted peameal...scalloped potatoes..
                     Bok- Choy and brussell sprouts...

I am STARVING....and it smells soooooooo good!!!

Enjoy the rest of your evening...

                     Cheers!  :o)

  5. Any friend of Betsy's and Gloria's makes me curious... as curious as my cats Mongo and Pebbles. Just don't come and visit me too often for I wouldn't want to be sued by them for making you grumpy. Ah... a picture blog. You're very creative. Could you achieve the same level of exactness if I gave you a 35-year-old million dollar bill?

New year's resolution: I promise the grumpy stranger I'll do a bit of internet shopping. It'll make my wallet feel less empty and conned. I will be able to find what I'm looking for and feel good.

  6. Lots of good times and memories with those stockings!!
Vivian will always treasure the stocking you made for her.
My daughter still uses the one I made her 39 years ago!!

  7. I love traditions and that you are trying to stay close to the originals. Instead of the sequence/buttons for the eyes I suggest using black beads. These will look like coal.
