What Do You Think?........
Last night on our walk...
One of my neighbours, offered me some of his pears...
From his pear tree...
I asked him if I should sit them on the counter to ripen...
He replied.."I like to eat them just like that"...
"Really?"...I replied...
"I kinda like them soft"...
So...what do you think???
Do you think they will ripen???
Or...
Stay hard???
Had quite an exciting day here...albeit...a long one!!
Will save that for another post...
Enjoy your evening...lovely and hot and sunny here!!
Have everything prepared to make Summer Pasta...with Ceasar Salad...
It just seemed fitting....
Cheers! :o)

I think your pears will ripen....but, you can hasten the ripening process by placing them in a paper bag for a few hours or a day...so I've heard. By the way, they look lovely sitting there in the green bowl. Summer pasta sounds good!
ReplyDeleteNow...if only I had a paper bag!!
DeleteGreen bowl was a thrifty buy!
Like them quite soft and ripen them on the window ledge . . . . yum
ReplyDeleteI see you have invited a "conference" about it . . . . lol
Envy you your weather, dreadful here and could not take Rosa out for a walk after all. But had a nice cuddle for almost 3 hours with her lying on my chest, , , , aw
Peter's turn tomorrow and the day after . . . :)
Hi Eddie...
DeleteWeather has been great this week...
Have fun with Peter!
Your pears make the perfect centerpiece. I love the dish and the look...I like my pears just between hard and soft. I like a little crunch.
ReplyDeleteYour summer pasta looks great. Have a great evening.
I love green glass plates,bowls... anything!!
DeleteAs Laurie said, I was going to say put them in a paper bag. It does work! I prefer mine somewhere in the middle.
ReplyDeleteI guess they will stay where they are for a while...
DeleteMy bet is...they will not ripen!!
I like my pears on the harder side of soft, but I will eat them if they ripen too.
ReplyDeleteBananas, on the other hand, should not be too ripe. Once they get more than a few brown spots they're ready for banana bread.
:0)
Yup...into the freezer they go!!
DeleteWe have a pear tree and we pick them green and let them ripen on the plate. If you pick them yellow then they are mushy.
ReplyDeleteI like ripe pears.-
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous..so photogenic!
Yes...I thought so too! Any photo op for me!! Hahaha!
DeleteI prefer my pears yellow and soft, thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteyou are welcome, Pam!!
DeleteI like pears that are just a wee bit soft. They really look pretty on your table!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cheryl!!
DeleteSo not sure of what to do with fruit and veggies. I buy pears at the grocery when they feel a tiny bit soft...the same with peaches. Nothing feels worse than biting into a hard fruit like that. I get lost in the info. I heard that tomatoes should not be refrigerated---some sort of chemical reaction from the cold that makes them go bad faster. Yet when I leave them out, they wrinkle and go bad in a few days. Not to mention fruit flies that appear out of nowhere. Who can you believe?
ReplyDeleteThe pasta sounds lovely...I'm going to look for it.
Jane x
i also buy them almost soft...with a rosy glow!!
DeleteIt is true about tomatoes...I usually try to buy them a bit on the unripened side, then they will be perfect!!
DO NOT put them in the fridge!!
Fruit flies drive me crazy!!
I like them soft and juicy too.
ReplyDeleteI like them a bit soft with some juice, but not mushy. I do the paper bag thing too. However, they look beautiful on that plate! Terrific photo.
ReplyDeleteThanks Suza!
DeleteOh, I do love pears! I let them ripen...sometimes it takes a week. Soft and juicy is the way I like them...so much more flavor. The Mister likes them crunchy but not me!
ReplyDeleteBoo on crunchy pears....apples...YES!!
DeleteLove your pears. That pasta looks divine too!
ReplyDeleteThe pasta is delicious!! Hope you checked out the recipe!
DeleteThey will ripen if you leave them for awhile. Lovely picture of them on the plate!
ReplyDeleteWill do Devon!!
DeleteHow nice of your neighbor to give you some pears! I think they will ripen if you leave them on the counter for a few days. I like my pears on the soft side, but not mushy.
ReplyDeleteI do believe you are right Kathy!
DeleteHave a great weekend!
If I'm juicing them then always hard. If I'm baking, somewhere in the middleish, and if I'm making pearsauce, then I really don't care, they can be mush because I'm making them into a bigger mush.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI like my pears soft too . . . not mushy, but hard just doesn't seem right.
ReplyDeleteI think they will ripen!
Still hard! Hahaha!
