A Few Feathered Friends......
I have been doing some bird watching the last few days, thru my kitchen window...
I was so pleased to see the pair of Mourning Doves...have not seen them for a very long time...
The Sparrows are always plentiful...and adorable...
Mr and Mrs Cardinal are regulars!!
The Chick-a-dee-dee-dees are also about, but they eluded my camera this past while...love to see them at the feeders...
The feather is at the beach at the cottage...wonder what kind of bird lost it???
Most probably a Seagull...so beautiful where it lands...
Pretty quiet around here lately...
We are getting snow and freezing rain today...😳
And...the big winds are returning overnite...
Tomorrow morning should be particularly nasty!
I have a meatloaf ready for the oven...a Yam and some beets!
Time to get my crochet hook out!
I made a hat for Miss V yesterday...and I have started another afghan...
Love crochet!!
Hope you are all well...and surviving the winter...
Some areas have had sooo much snow, and we were practically snowless until this morning...
Temps on the rise again...and then the big drop on the weekend...
Feels like a pattern!!
I went to fitness this am...and had coffee with the gals...
I got a shot of the Moon on Sunday night...
Don't think it will be visible tonight!!
Enjoy your evening my friends...
Cheers! :o)

It's rare to see a cardinal on the prairies, so I always enjoy your photos of them!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra! I love having them in my gardens....♥️
DeleteLinda, You take AMAZING photos. Your bird shots are fantastic!!! I am impressed!!! I do all kinds of handcrafts but have never learned to knit or crochet. I think I need to do that! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWell, thanks so much Diana! Wait til you see my flower photos in the warm weather! 😉
DeleteI love to crochet...and learning to knit, again! You should try!
Lovely photos of your feathered friends and the moon . The weather is nasty a mix of all sorts for sure . Thanks for sharing , Have a good evening and stay safe and cozy !
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine...it must be crazy down there by the lake!
DeleteLoved your afghan. I'm getting ready to start another one, too. A house warming gift for my oldest daughter. I'm looking at patterns now. Great shots of your birds. We've had many at the lake....stopping by for local grub, I'm sure. Are y'all heading south this winter?
ReplyDeleteLove starting new projects...almost as much as finishing them! hahaha!
DeleteYes we sure are! Leaving Feb 8th!! Can hardly wait!!
We had 3 woodpeckers at our feeder yesterday. Beautiful red heads. We get flickrs and chickadees. And sparrows. They make my husband so mad! lol
ReplyDeleteLove Woodpeckers!!
DeleteWhy does it make Hubby mad???
We had snow and freezing rain today too. It was still snow when I got to work and by the time I got out it had changed to rain. My windows were glazed with a loose coating of ice which came off with ease. I wonder what tomorrow will bring?
ReplyDeleteLove your feathered friends. I stopped putting seed out on account of The Naughties. Feels cruel to lure birds and small feathered animals into my yard to be ambushed by a cat or two.
:0)
Yes...those Naughties can surely be a problem for the birdies...Hope you are well!!
DeleteHello to Mr and Mrs Cardinal, you gorgeous things. Big drop for you this weekend, and big hot for us - 39c predicted, which is just Not Fair. I love chickadees too, but they are so hard to catch with the camera. You are very good at bird pics Linda. Happy days.
ReplyDeleteenjoy your heat!! we are having topsy turvy weather here...
DeleteI love cardinals. Their bright colours are such a welcome sight this time of year. Blue Jays are nice, too. Well, all birds, really...haha! Snow and freezing rain here. And lots of wind. Welcome to Canadian winter :) Are you heading to Florida this year?
ReplyDeleteI love the birds too MArtha...not too windy this am...worse last night...all the snow is gone!!
DeleteYes...leaving Feb 8th...my feet are ready! hahaha!
Love all the feathery shots but particularly the one of Mrs. Cardinal. She just looks so pretty and the composition is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThey all look chilly with their feathers puffed up. Brrr...
Warmer today though. Loved seeing the snow fall earlier. Did not love the rain. :-)
I love when they are puffed up too!
DeleteSnow all gone today...as I am sure yours is too!
I just love how doves sit all puffed up like that. Good for you getting to fitness! I never learned to crochet, but I think I might like to learn. I'm sure there's a youtube video out there! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteCrochet is all in the fingers...how to hold the hook and work the yarn...give it a try!!
DeleteThis morning is aerobics interval class...I am almost ready to go!
Your photos are extraordinary, Linda, the birds and the beautiful moon. I keep telling myself to dust off my good camera but I can barely find time to light the stove.
ReplyDeleteFun at your cottage. I forget if it's year round. Or perhaps you go until the temps drop? I'm so spotty that I've forgotten so much.
I envy your dedication to gym and then your time with friends. I need to move near you!
Hope you're having a good week. Very strong winds here, too.
Jane x
Oh Jane...you make me laugh!!
DeleteOur cottage is seasonal...we draw water from the Lake, so when it gets too cold, we have to shut her down. We could go...with no water, as we have a furnace, but it is not very convenient. It is amazing how many things you CANNOT do without water! We will open in March...weather permitting...and start the whole cycle again! We try to visit at least once a month...just to make sure no damage...and no critters inside! The winds are very high on the Great Lakes, and our trees are 100's of years old...so far so good!
Love the photos of the sweet little birds. I always feel so sorry for them this time of year. It makes me realize how lucky I am for my warm and cozy fire. Good for you for hitting the gym! I am getting a new 'fit-board' tomorrow - it was a gift for Christmas from my daughter and it just came in the mail. She is coming to visit and bringing it, along with my new baby grandson. I can't wait to see them. I guess I will have to knuckle down and get in shape - no excuses now! Crochet really does lend itself to cold winter nights in front of the fire! You'll have to share your projects with us. Love the moon shot. I've been seeing the big and little dippers whenever it is clear. Stay warm and cozy. Hugs xo Karen
ReplyDeleteOh , you must be so excited!! Hope to see some pics of the new baby...
DeleteCrochet is really a cosy craft, I do agree...and you can do it anywhere!!
Enjoy your wee visitor!
Those are amazing pictures of the birds! It is nasty cold here too, but I'm sure it's worse for you. Try to stay warm and be safe if you have to go out. At least it's supposed to warm up the rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteI think our weather is very similar Kathy...actually no snow here this morning...all gone with the rain...breezy though. Going up to +6c today!!
Deleteenjoy your day....
I love the birds. I felt so bad for our last weekend... from the 60s to 15 over the weekend. We were back in the 70s yesterday. Yea!! Love your new afghan I saw on Instagram! Can't wait to see more! Now, save a little time for knitting, too. ;) blessings and hugs ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteI guess the birds learn to adapt...just like us!
DeleteThanks about the afghan...i really like the way it turned out...started a new one! Fiddling with striping this time...I will def do some knitting...promise!
It's was so windy yesterday and last night the rain poured and beat on the windows! I hear it will rain today and then freeze. Glad I'm not leaving the house for a few days. Time to hunker down and get some things done!
ReplyDeleteLove the bird photos. I rarely capture a chickadee either but they sure are fun to see at the feeders!
Same here Betsy...poured rain...all the snow is gone! Yesterday morning like a winter wonderland...today...green!!
DeleteLove chickadees!!
And I got cranky because I had to turn the heat on last night ! lol ... enjoy that snow .. it makes such good memories. Then go to Florida :) lots of love. C
ReplyDeleteNo snow left! And more rain tonight! Hope Florida is sunny and warm....
DeleteI think you..your camera..and birs..(and Miss V) are a match made in heaven.Really Linda..and what fun you love them all so much..;)The winds here..all night..were actually frightening..things are thawing..mixed bag the next few days..sun is supposed to shine this aft.
ReplyDeleteI have oinned so many cute crochet things..I think..will look.
I think I hear Thunder here last night... Scary indeed...warm today...lots of rain tonight and tomorrow!
DeleteI have pinned a lot of crochet too! Unfortunately, they don't all have patterns 😕
Thanks for your kind words Monique...

DeleteI'm always so impressed by your knowledge! The names of the types of birds, wildlife, flowers, etc. It was fun sharing time with you yesterday, Hope today's fitness class was also a good one. My drive to NOTL early this a.m. was fine, traffic was moving along. Have a nice rest of the week...
ReplyDeleteGlad your drive was good...had fun this am! I like the way Bruce leads the class...he does boot camp Wednesday at 9... Might try that next week! Hope your friend feels better....enjoy your girl time.
DeleteBeautiful shots of birds. You have a great variet there. Someone bought me a bird house/table making book for Christmas ~ only problem is we do not have the varieties here because it is American/Canadian . . . lol. Never mind I am sure I can adapt them to our bird life . . . lol
ReplyDeleteVery cold here and due to plunge to minus 10 degrees centigrade (=14 degrees F). Very cold for us fragile Brits . . . lol
Nice shot of the moon. I have been reading about alleged Flying Saucer there during our moon landings and beyond . . . looks as though a little green man has left a few lights on in your photo . . . lol
Hi Eddie...
DeleteThanks! I do love the birds.
You are smart, you can adapt for your species of birds.
We are also in Celsius here...that is nippy! We are going up to +7c tomorrow! Buckets of rain expected...better than snow!
I also love the Moon, and capturing photos...I think I see the lights! Hahaha!
Your photos are all so beautiful, Linda. I've always enjoyed them on IG - even moreso on your blog on my bigger screen (laptop)!
ReplyDeleteHi Mel! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteOh my . . .
ReplyDeleteI treasure seeing the birdie close ups!
Wonderful . . .
I liked the "fitness" mention . . .
I am doing the same, three times a week . . .
with achy arms and legs . . .
Off I go !
Happy crochet days!
Good for you Lynne! Best thing for us...aches and all!!
DeleteAlways lovely to see your local wildlife!
