The Weekend & A Birthday!!

Friday at the cottage brought a few showers...

Which...provided for some good photo-ops!

Still a limited supply of blooms...but what there is...are gorgeous!!

Saturday was wall to wall sunshine...with a N/E breeze...lovely!

I got the firepit ready on the beach deck...

We went in to eat...{had burgers...yum}...and while we were inside...

The darn old wind changed to a S/W direction...so...

My Boyfriend went out to put the firepit away...

Safely covered for next time...:o(

If the wind is blowing any SOUTH direction...it is IMPOSSIBLE to have a fire...

And...

We learned that the HARD way! hahaha!

Sunday was cooler, so we busied ourselves inside til the afternoon...

Then....made our way home...

We had the pleasure of spending the day with Miss V yesterday...

She was very busy making her Auntie Lissa and Uncle Ryan birthday cards...

Lissa is today....Ryan is on Thursday...

She was the cutest baby and is now a beautiful woman...♥️

In this photo she is wearing my dress that my Aunt smocked for me as a young child...isn't it beautiful? Both of my beautiful daughters wore it! I find that smocking has lost its appeal with the younger Mothers of today...I kept a dress that she had made for Lissa...she made MANY...and tried to get Miss V to wear it...but, the size and timing never seemed to mesh...but I still have it!!

                       *****HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISSA*****

I will not see her today....she and her hubby are spending the day together♥️

I did finish the afghan for her...here is a sneak peek!!

I think I will see her tomorrow...hope she likes it!!

Hope you are all well....and having a great day...

Weather here is kinda dreary...drippy...cold!!

At least the darn wind has died down since yesterday...

I am off to the grocery store...gonna look for some Salmon for dinner...

And...perhaps I will make some homemade YAM fries to go with that...

Wonder what veggies are on sale....hmmmmm...

Enjoy the rest of your day...

                 Cheers!   :o)

  2. That is a beautiful dress. Sad that Miss V could never wear it. I have one that was made for my daughter by one of the ladies from my childhood neighborhood. I cherish it, but my daughter never met Miss Madelyn and the dress means nothing to her. I keep it hoping that someday she will have a daughter and want it.

  12. I loved smocked dresses when my girls were little. had a little collection of Polly Flinders dresses that I picked up second hand. So cute.
I thought of you Sunday afternoon when the wind was coming off Lake Ontario and making me cold. I hoped the wind was being kinder to you on the other side.
And, that laughing pig is hilarious!

When the wind blows in from the Lake, it is definitely chilly! It was great on Friday and Saturday, but then turned nasty Saturday evening! Hence....no fire!

  13. Talk about breathtaking.....your flower photos are gorgeous! Love the water droplets on them. The pig made me giggle. I smocked dresses for my girls for Easter one year that look so much like your smocked dress. I'll have to dig up a photo of them. Love the colors you chose for the afghan. Can't wait to see the whole thing.

  17. Happy Birthday to your beautiful girl! That dress she was wearing for photo was gorgeous! I agree, the ladies of today, they don't appreciate the intricate smocking dresses. My girls wore Nannette dresses, all smocked at the yoke. I adored them. I wish I had saved them!!! They were each so beautiful!!
Miss V so serious with her artwork! Loved the pics of the cottage. Soon, the sun and fun begin.
