Part 1...Trip To The Flower Shop To Buy Some Seeds....
Last week...I had promised Miss V that we would go and pick out some seeds, and plant them at my house...inside!
On our way to Mississauga Greenhouses...or as Miss V likes to call it...
"The Flower Store"...
I suggested Sunflower and Pumpkin seeds...
She agreed that these were great choices...
Once we were inside, it was easy to find the area where the seeds were!!
I have been going to this fabulous greenhouse for over 35 years...
It carries everything you could imagine for your gardening/flower needs...
It is open year round...and also features seasonal items...pots...houseplants...
Christmas trees etc...and of course Perennials all summer...
Bountiful beautiful prepared baskets...potting needs...stones...mulch...soil...shrubs...cut flowers...potted plants...and a wonderful walk-in cooler...to pick exactly what you need!
Anyway...enough gushing...obviously I love this place!
My daughter Erika...is in the floral industry...she worked at The Greenhouse, as a part-time worker...later to become fulltime...and was encouraged by the owners wife, to explore Floral Design...
She took a course at the local college...and started her career as a Floral Designer!
She has worked at various High End Floral Shops...and at a Fabulous Design Store...after years of design...she is enjoying being in the selling end of fresh flowers, and truly enjoys her work at an Importer of Fresh Flowers...
Now you know the story of The Flower Lady...and why she is always so generous with her old Mom!!
It always lifts my spirits visiting here...
Especially in the Winter...lovely to see all the fresh plants and flowers...
You can see that Miss V is clutching her seed packets...while taking in every inch of the gorgeous building...
There are even Birds for everyone to enjoy...
But...as she let me know...
"Can we go now Nana?"
"We need to plant our seeds and have lunch!"
"Of course we do sweetie...let's go"...♥️
And...
"I need to try out that new mop that you bought me"
"Yes...right after I fix your hair, with a pretty barrette"...
Tee hee hee.....
I purchased these mini-greenhouse peat planters at the $ store...
Perfect for the wee ones!
As per the instructions...we soaked the peat with water...
They very soon puffed up...and were ready to be planted!
New gardening gloves...not really needed...and waaay too big!
She is such a good sport...humouring her old Nana ♥️
I helped to push the seeds in deeply...
All tucked in...labelled...high hopes...to be continued..................
Hope you are all having a great week so far...
It has flown by here...and the weather is co-operating!
Wall to wall sunshine...temps climbing...looks like a cottage weekend..for sure!
Enjoy your Thursday...
We are off to Costco...
Cheers! :o)

Happy weekend to you!
What a fantastic place to visit. I bet those seeds will be sprouting soon. I just took your blueberry, yogurt loaf out of the oven. What delicious smells coming from the kitchen. We're having our first bbq tonight followed by delicious cake. Thanks for the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI love it there! Just a few minutes from home!
DeleteOh my...you will love that cake! Enjoy!
Oh, what fun! I planted marigold seeds with a few grandchildren on Saturday. (We're saving them for Mother's Day.) This is a good reminder for me to water them.
ReplyDelete:0)
Marigold seeds are fun too! And large! Yes....do water them! It really helps! Hahaha!
DeleteI can see why you like the The Flower Store . . . and isn't Miss V interested?
ReplyDeleteAlso interesting about Erika and her studies and work with flowers and floral design.
They inherit your love for botanical things . . . :)
HI Eddie...
DeleteYes...she was quite interested...such a great gal to hang out with!
I think they did Eddie...my daughter Lissa has an awesome garden, and my so Ryan is getting his home landscaped, bit by bit! He is obsessive about his lawn! Hahaha!
He can come and fix mine and I'll buy him some fish and chips . . . haha
DeleteHe doesn't eat fish....but I love it!
DeleteI could spend all day in there! And I could spend tons of money in there! haha. So sun. Great choices...fast growing and nice and big, too. It's magical to see seeds sprout in soil...love your little pods and containers..so cute!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fantastic! Love it in there....except it is hot, and makes my hair furry if I stay too long! Hahaha!
DeleteGot them at the $ store...gotta love it!
"I need to try out that new mop you bought me" -- oh Nana, aren't you a sly devil?
ReplyDeleteGuilty as charged! Hahaha!
DeleteAhhhh, you are making lots of good memories with Vivian! And your 'flower shop' is a dream. How do you control yourself. I would be like...I want one of these and one of these..... Lol!
ReplyDeleteOh I have done that, Laurie....believe me!
DeleteI go there at least once a week!
When I am visiting someone, I like to grab a fresh potted plant, and a pot to take!
She is a joy to be with!
Oh my . . . my kind of flower shop . . .
ReplyDeleteI do have a favorite FS but it isn't opened year around . .
It has wonderful perennials . . . annuals too . . .
Miss V is so adorable . . . I feel like jumping through the screen and giving her a big squeeze . . .
I hope her seeds "pop up!" How fun for her to plant the seeds and watch them grow . . .
(Hopefully that happens!)
You are a wonderful granny Linda . . .
Her seeds are doing great! Already transplanted...shhhh...I will post soon!
DeleteI will squeeze her for you♥️We are watching her on Sunday....
Thanks Lynne...I appreciate that!
So cute...both of you :) It's always so much fun with Nana! That is such a wonderful greenhouse. I'd be visiting year round, too, because we definitely need that colour in the winter.
ReplyDeleteThanks MArtha! IT is fun being with her! Love the greenhouse!!
DeleteNurseries are so nice to visit at this time of year!
ReplyDeleteHi Furry...
DeleteYou are absolutely right! IT gives us that "garden" fix!
Wow, we always pass by these greenhouses, but have never shopped there. So, thanks for posting the lovely indoor photos, my BF and I will check it out. It was nice to catch up with girlfriends at dinner in North York, but the traffic getting there is so stressful! Have fun at the cottage, especially Sunday with Miss V. :)
ReplyDeleteWell worth a visit Hester...it is a great place! You can find anything there!
DeleteI am sure your BF would really enjoy it...being a gardener!
Getting ready to go...what to pack??? Will be warm in the day...but cold at night!
Picking Miss V up on our way home on Sunday...♥️
Another wonderful adventure! My fave garden center is very much like this. I am so ready to explore but it's a bit early here. Your daughter is in a field I think I would enjoy! Miss V---love!
ReplyDeleteJane
Welcome Home Jane!!
DeleteYes...too early here for bedding plants...but, soon hopefully!
She looks like she is having the time of her life. One of the most wonderful things about spring!
ReplyDeleteWelcome!
DeleteThanks for your comment...hope you drop by again!!
A great post Linda. That is an awesome flower shop, and Miss V is enjoying it immensely. I am not surprised your daughter is into flowers as a business, she takes after her talented Mum. The little peat planters are interesting; I have never seen them here. btw, did I ever tell you my new DIL-to-be has the same name as Miss V? It is a very nice name :)
ReplyDeleteYour daughter in law sounds like a lovely person!! IT is such a pretty old fashioned name, eh?
DeleteGot the peat planters at the $store...perfect for the wee ones!!
What a perfect way to get her started on a love of gardening! I worked in a greenhouse (MUCH smaller in scale) as a job between school years once and that's what started me (as well as watching my mom). I was even taking cuttings of various shrubs, planting seeding trays, and dragged hoses probably hundreds of miles. I still love the smell of a greenhouse. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteMy daughter also worked at White Rose...remember that store??? Loved that store!!
DeleteYou got your start early...the smell of a greenhouse is awesome!
What cool little planters those are! Must go and get some. Love Miss V's gardening gloves. Bet she loves those excursions with you!
ReplyDeleteGood old $ store, Devon!
DeleteShe does love to go anywhere! hahaha1
How wonderful to explore a nursery with your Nana. You always have such fun things to do! Lucky Miss V.
ReplyDeleteLaughing at the mop - smart Nana. :-)
Thanks Suzanne...doing my best!
DeleteSo fun to take V to the greenhouse and get seeds. She'll love watching them grow. I love visiting greenhouse/nurseries and our local one will be opening in May sometime. I hope the weekend has been beautiful at the cottage. xx Pam
ReplyDeleteWeekend was fabulous!! No wind...and lots of sunshine!!
