Revisiting Past Januarys At The Lake...

This is how the Lake looked last January..It is still not frozen...but plenty of heavy ice and snow at the shoreline...When the sun shines, it just makes everything so much more beautiful...  :o)

The hearty Miscanthus grass is still standing...with some plumes atop...they are so lovely, but a LOT of work in the spring, when we have to cut them back ...one stalk at a time!!! they are almost like a bamboo size stalk...very rigid...but they sure make for a great bonfire!!
Looking to the east...we are in a small cove...that is the reason for the sea walls...to protect the shoreline..

Here is Greg feeding the seagulls...we do that all year 'round..they have come to expect it!!

These geese floating by really caught my eye...I used this shot as one of my Christmas cards this year...

This is looking to the west of our place...huge snow piles...made from the waves...

Now we are back at home, in my back yard...the snow was deeper here than at the lake...love the dripping icicle...

Hope you enjoyed the trip back in time..Usually we take a trip to the lake on Fridays...but they are forecasting crummy weather for tomorrow...soooo..not sure if we will go or not...:o(....
But....if we do...I will take some snaps so we can compare from last year......keep your fingers crossed that we DO go...

right now, we are off to a matinee to see "Sherlock Holmes"...nice way to spend a gloomy Thursday afternoon... This is what it looks like out side RIGHT NOW!!!  yikes....

Enjoy your day.......:o)

  1. Such clear chilly shots! I loved the first Sherlock Holmes, I hope the sequel is as good.

  2. Today the lake would be glorious, with all the snow falling down. Maybe you can get some shots soon of the newly fallen snow on all those beautiful grasses!
