The next day...Saturday..
My boyfriend and I packed up the truck....
And headed for the cottage....
The temperature gauge in the truck was showing 11 degrees celsius, so we were very optimistic!!!
It wasn't until we opened the gates...
Hopped out...
And then realized...
That is was a darn South/West wind...
Which makes for a very chilly day...
Thank goodness I threw my ski jacket in the back seat!!
I started with the beach tour...All the snow was gone...except for a wee bit on top of the old concrete slabs...
The water is VERY low...not a good thing..
But...I did find a feather...so that made me feel better...
I zoomed into the point, and there is still some ice and snow down there...
Saw the first freighter of the Season...heading from the Welland Canal to the Erie Canal..
After we unloaded all the stuff...
My boyfriend got going on starting the water up...
I started collecting kindling and stacking up some logs for the fire...
One of my neighbours stopped by, and we caught up on the past few months...
The water started up with no glitches...
I got the fire going...
Nice fresh fleece sheets on the bed...
Electric blanket cranked to HIGH!!!
Then went outside and did a bit of raking...
While my bofyriend split some more logs....
We tried to find a sheltered spot...in the sun...
Had a nice big mug of hot Pea Soup...
But it became too chilly...
So...we opted for some Golf on TV...while I prepared the dinner of Lamb Shanks...slowly roasted in diced tomatoes... with cinnamon, onion and carrots...Which I served over mashed potatoes....along with a Greek salad...
It was very good!!!
While eating dinner...
I was able to capture a few shots of my feathery friends...
I had filled the feeders...
And...they were hungry!!!
It looked warmer than it really was....At least it was Sunny!!!
Just look at those gardens....full of leaves...I have my work cut out for me!!
We enjoyed the fire...
And the silhouette of our "Mexican Guy Riding A Donkey" fire screen...
And....just look at the fabulous find my boyfriend made...
Is that an Easter beach glass.....or what???
I love it!!!
We slept OK....it was pretty nipply upstairs....for sure!!!
Had a big cup of coffee and an english muffin...and we were on our way...
Here's hoping we get some warmer weather...
It doesn't look too promising....Today is darn right freezing....windy!!!
Hope you all had a great long weekend...
I have a cold...so taking it easy today...
A pot of Scotch Broth on the stove....
Enjoy the rest of your day...
Cheers! :o)

Lucky find of a feather, and the piece of beach glass is wonderful. What will you do with it?
ReplyDeleteThe birds were certainly glad to see you back at the cottage. Sure looks chilly there.
Good grief, the wind was freezing today and I didn't venture outside. I'm still packing up china for when the new carpets are installed.
I have jars full of sea glass at the cottage...but it is still exciting when you find such a beautiful color!!
DeleteI missed your Easter post with the kiddos. Such great shots!! The baby is growing so fast!!! Love the Gerberas. A favorite of mine too.
ReplyDeleteYour trip to the cottage...oh dear me, looked ever so chilly! I love that though. Getting the fire roaring, and the mug of hot tea and filling my water bottle with the hottest water possible....to rest on my toes...oh so cozy!!!!!
Looked beautiful!!!!
Hugs,
Kris
It was chilly...but good to be back out there...such a difference from last year...the daffodils were already blooming!!!Love the fire!!!
DeleteI love this post, even though you were chilly, because it's interesting for me to see the lake from the Canadian side. My husband and I spent a number of years living on the US side of Lake Ontario, in NY; we also spent some time near Lake Erie. I only saw Lake Ontario from the Canadian side a few times, though we spent a lot of time there on the US side. I wish now that we'd gone to Canada more often. Your sea glass is beautiful; I absolutely love sea glass and have a tiny collection from the years I lived in the east.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer....my cottage is on the Northern shores of Lake Erie...a very special place to all of u...
DeleteIt does look cold there Linda but you bravely stuck it out! It's nice to see the snow and ice gone from the shore. Enjoy the day!
ReplyDeleteOh. It's only -2 here and windy and only going up to zero today and tomorrow! Brrrrr.
Cold here again today....small blizzards passing thru!!
DeleteWarmer weather will be here in a few weeks! Still fun to see what's going on at the cottage! We're still below freezing in the mornings...still mitten weather in the afternoons. The sun is deceiving!
ReplyDeleteSame here...when the sun is out it looks wonderful...but still really chilly!!!
