Trip To Port......

Last Saturday, we took a trip into Port Colborne...
We had a large bag of clothes to donate to our favorite Thrift Shop...
We were lucky enough to catch a tanker going thru the Welland Canal in town...Out to Lake Erie, on a trip somewhere...
You can see the lift bridge is up, and the traffic has to stop...
Port Colborne is a funny little town...There are actually 2 downtowns...we prefer this one! Lovely lush flower baskets line the street...with plenty of cute shops and places to eat...
They had a few really nice things in their auction that day...
The doll house was already up to $150!!! And the childs tea set was $50...the beautiful blue set of dishes was $85...Sometimes I will put a bid in the book...but I have never won a bid yet!!
It is such a clean lovely store, and the people who volunteer there are so nice!
You can see they have quite a variety of items for sale...and always very reasonable...I stopped taking pics, as one of the customers "clucked" at me...Imagine that! hahaha!

I should have bought this wee embroidered tablecloth...$2!!!
But...how many darn cute Christmas tablecloths can you have??
Am I right??

We headed down the street for a bite to eat...
I had greasy delicious pepperoni pizza...and my boyfriend...{mr sensible} had a turkey/tomato sandwich...
BORING!!!

I'll take greasy Pizza whenever and wherever I can!

So...
Here is what we bought!
Boyfriend found this wooden box...
Perfect for CD's...$2

I got these American Eagle suede shoes for $3!!
Love these...perfect for the cottage...either as slippers or for the sunporch...

And these 3 glasses...
Love the Disney one...and the Scottie dogs...50 cents each!

This darling glass...I bought a few months ago...25 cents...which I put in Miss V's birthday basket!!

This is what the big freighters look like when they go past our cottage...far out in the middle of the Lake....heading for the Erie Canal...I took this later that afternoon...
I think it may be the same one we saw in Port!!
Had to zoom way in...so kinda blurry...what do you think??

Hope you are all having a great day...
We had a great rain this am...now breezy and sunny...
A lot of the humidity is gone...thank goodness!

Planning on a wee filet mignon for dinner...on the BBQ...
Baked potato with the works...mushrooms,onions and peppers!
Perhaps we will dine El Fresco tonight!!

Enjoy your evening...
Cheers!  :o)

  2. I love, love, love Port Colborne and so wish I had been there with you. What a cute town! Sorry, but I would be more likely to eat what your boyfriend was eating. That sandwich sounded good! You got such cute things at the thrift shop. Shame on the woman who stopped you from taking pictures. I'm always shy about taking shots and here you are so brave and they tell you to stop.

  5. I love flower-lined streets with lots of trees. It's very pretty. I think every small town has it's uniqueness. I love taking day-trips, too and we've been trying to do just that to get to know our new area and find out what's around. I love the new header. :)

  9. Fun to have a day trip and you did fun things!
I could have pizza every day - one of my favourite foods.
Sweet glasses - Miss V will love them. I still have a glass from childhood that has Sabrina the witch vacuuming - ha!
    Cool Corona box!
If a customer had clucked at me, I would have turned to her, with a smile, and said, "Oh, are there hens to photograph? Do show me where!" :-)

  12. I loved your trip to Port Colborne. Haven't been there in years and years, but I do recall a time when we were out with my inlaws that there was a tanker in the lock. Very cool and so much bigger than you can imagine!
I am still chomping at the bit when it comes to crossing the border but so far have no absolute time to do such a thing. *sigh...
Maybe one of these days off I'll just run away for a day.

  14. Looks like a lovely place to visit for a day trip. I had a giggle when I read about the lady clucking at you. I can just imagine the expression on your face when it happened! Your new suede shoes are sweet, so are the glasses with Pooh Bear and Tigger. Enjoy the weekend, we'll probably walk around Pt. Credit. It's Busker Fest weekend, I never tire of "theatre in the street."
