Last Of The Irises....And A Small Project....

This gorgeous Iris..

Stands alone...

No friends...

No "like" Irises...

Just...

One...

Alone...

In her beauty...

Not sure where she came from...

But...

She was here last year...

Alone...

Full of pride...

Stately...

Happy to be content...

With herself....In all her glory...awesome!

Perhaps the Bees have influenced her...she also blooms later than all the others...she truly is One -of-a-kind...

Last weekend...

I tackled...

A...

Long overdue job...

The walkway from the cottage to the beach...needed to be edged...

While my boyfriend was in town...

I got to work...

My handy-dandy whipper has a great edger as well...

But it seems to me....that it worked better the last time I did this hideous job...

I ended up using my edger shovel for most of the work....

But the end results were well worth the effort....

I even went out onto the scary balcony again to get this shot...

Shows off my work to perfection!!!

And I even found a fluffy feather...

Love when that happens!!

And take a silly picture of myself in the mirror on the side of the shed!!!

Looks very tropical out at the old cottage, eh???

Hope you all had a great day...as you can see I am home...

The weather just isn't co-operating lately, and we had to wait for the pool guy as we have just experienced a LEAK!!!

Seems our second step has a crack in it...so he "gave" us some caulking to apply to the crack...if he was to "fix" the leak...it would require a new liner {current one is only about 6 years old} and new steps...to the tune of $6500!!!

NO THANK YOU!!!!

The caulking will be just fine!!  Thanks! See 'ya!! Don't let the gate hit you on the way out!!! hahaha!

We hung out with Vivian today, as her Mom is under the weather...

We had no problems at all....loved having her...:o)

Aren't my 3 girls beautiful???

Hope to get to the cottage tomorrow...weather supposed to clear...a wee bit!

On the menu tonight...

Succulent roasted Ribs...Onion soup potatoes...fresh asparagus

Enjoy your weekend...and the rest of your day...

How do you like the new header????

                         Cheers!  :o)

  3. Your new header looks great. The iris is certainly a tough lady! The edging looks terrific. I know what hard work that is and you did a great job.

  4. Yikes, you can buy an awful lot of yarn for the price quoted for the pool fix (and other stuff too) ... new header is lovely ... and the path looks wonderful after all your hard work ... so brave facing the balcony for a photo op
Hope you get to the cottage and have some nice weather.

  5. Hi Linda,

So very nice to "meet" you. I can already tell we are kindred spirits. I love to stroll around my garden snapping pictures here and there along the way. We had a terrible rainstorm last evening and I even took pictures of the "injuries." Nothing a little sun and staking won't improve.

You did an awesome job on the pathway! Kudos to you! I've tackled that job one to many times before and it is grueling. I've yet to find a solution. Although, spraying vinegar after I'm done seems to keep it down longer:)

Love the Iris. I don't mind saying I'm not much of an Iris person, love, love, love carnations, but, that Iris is most certainly making a statement. Statements I like too:)

Your girls are beautiful and yes, I love that image of you in the mirror too. Dinner isn't bad either:)

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I hope you will try to pop in for the Picnic Game Round-up July 1st. The picnickers have gathered quite a smorgasbord of goodies this year; from A-Z you might say:) "See" you there!

  7. Yes indeed, you have three beautiful girlies there! And such a beautiful, neat and trimmed walkway to the deck. Love your cottage! So wish I could see it for real.
Love the new header! Have a great weekend!

  8. It's raining here this morning and I am enjoying the sound of it falling just outside the window. It's a little cool for walking in at the moment.

Your iris is beautiful and the walkway looks amazing! I need to get outside and actually do some work, although I did weed the box of marigolds and zinnias down at our vegetable garden. Haven't really blogged much on that.

I hope you have a great cottage weekend with some sunshine.

  9. Hope you get to the cottage this weekend; the pathway looks great. It's a good thing to stand back and admire one's work afterwards...that is the reward ;-) I like the new header but I'm a flower (more than bird) person and Iris and Peonies are my favorites. We have an Iris "farm" nearby ... 6+ acres of nothing but different types of Iris that you can purchase for pick up in the fall. Truly a vision when it is in full bloom. Have a good weekend ... your "girls" are beautiful!

  10. I like the view from your scary balcony. You did a great job on the edging. I hope the sealer works for your pool. How disappointing when it's only 6 years old! Your daughters and granddaughter are very beautiful! Have a nice Canada Day. Looks like rain here again.
