If I had been smart...
Like Martha..{Lookin' Up}...
And Betsy...{My Five Men}...
both in my sidebar...
I...would have made...
A...
To do..
List..for the Summer...
It could have been a "Wish" TO DO list...like theirs...
But...
With NO list....
I have gotten kind of bogged down here...
Saying I will do "this'...or..."that"...and not accomplishing very much...
Shame on me...Get to work, Linda...quite fooling around...
"It's Hammertime"!!!! hahaha!..
Well...today...I thought to myself..."self, you know that $4 piece of fabric you boought...like 2 months ago...to recover the kitchen chair cushions?"
"well...you are long overdue...how long will it take...maybe an hour of your precious time?"...
"Get your sorry butt into your ironing/sewing/craft supplies/cupboard full of tablecloths room....and get to work"...
This is how flat and tired they were...
Pretty pitiful, eh?
So...
First I cut the fabric to make a pouch to slip the old pitiful cushion into...
Coaxed them into their new home...
They are still flat and tired...
HMMMMMMM...
I remember something...
I have had this bag of batting for about 100 years...
No time like the present!!!
A wee bit here...and a wee bit there..
Now...
That feels better...
A bit plumper on the old butt!! Ha!
Now....i need 4 ties to attach to the chair...
I am pretty disappointed with the width of the ties...
But...
For $4...whatareyougonnado???
And...
I had to hand sew them shut, as they were too fat and plump to fit back into the machine!!!
I think hand-sewing is one of my LEAST favorite ways to spend my time...
But...a girls gotta do...what a girls gotta do...
Man...I am full of witty retorts {or full of something} tonight!!!
I am going to look for a plain colored fabric to make better ties...
I wanted something a bit puffier...more floppy than this...
But....nonetheless....looks way better!!!
And it took WAAAYYY longer than an hour!!
After tidying up that mess...
I put the other "must dos"...
On the machine...
I still have outdoor fabric to use up...
That Raggedy Ann doll I cut out last Spring...
2 pairs of jeans to shorten for Erika...
And a pile of junk beside the machine!!
At least it is all tidied up for NOW!!!
Oh yeah...I almost forgot...Don't you just HATE it when you have to fill the Bobbin halfway thru your project....
Then I got a big ball of thread happening under the throat plate...
******AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH******
You almost have to be a sewing machine mechanic every time you try and do something... ok...I feel better now!!
Hope you all had a great ...productive day...
Heading out for dinner...Greek tonight...I am freed from the stove..
Except of course the chicken soup bubbling away for the weekend...
Enjoy the rest of your day...
What would you put on your "TO DO" list...if you were smart enough to make one!!!
Like Martha and Betsy....just 2 of my favorite bloggers...
Check them out in my sidebar...
Cheers! :o)

Coincidence you are writing about lists ... I was just checking my list and crossing off what has been done. My part is finished but hubby's part isn't!! I can't live without lists and writing it down reinforces what I have to do. I need to make a list of knit/crochet projects to do now for the upcoming months when gardening doesn't fill my time.
ReplyDeleteThose chairs sure do look comfy now ... a great place to rest and enjoy a cup of tea.
I do a lot of lists for a lot of different things..
DeleteBut...not for things I need to do!!
Just for things I need to pack for the cottage...mostly!
I agree with the crocheting list...I really need to attend to that!
The chairs are better...and the tea is green! ha!
I'm NOT making a to do list, because if I did, I would never end and would spend all my time making the list! I have a load of WIP's, a massive pile of books to read (about 50, literally), the garden needs attention, the lounge needs decorating, I have to decide on curtain fabric (thought I delayed this by ordering fabric samples, and they went and turned up!). Food to make for family get together over bank holiday weekend.... Better stop here before you start screaming!
ReplyDeleteChair cushions look lovely, I think that the ties might soften in time? They do look lovely and plump and soft though! Great days work.
I know....it is never-ending!
DeleteI still think I will make new ties...
I snipped a piece of fabric, and put it in my wallet...
That way...if I go to the fabric store, I will be able to match it up!
It was a good days work! Thanks, Amy!
i am smart enough not to make a to do list.
ReplyDeletei do not have your energy nor your talent nor your desire to create.
but thank god you do. because it's always a delight to see what you're into next!
you are the perfect 'pioneer wife' without the pioneer!
much rather a cool aqua blue pool just outside the window than a rattlesnake and a tumble weed! LOLOL.
i'm a comedian. that's my calling apparently.
that and ardent admirer.
xo
It was nothing, Tammy...really...nothing!
DeleteI just wish the ties were bigger...and softer...and..well...you get the picture!
Pioneer??? me??? NEVER!!!
Thanks for the lovely comment!!
Oh, but my To Do list is FUN stuff...making s'mores and watching fireworks! I was just telling a friend today that I have about 25 projects just laying around needing to be done. With the wedding and school stuff done, I need to get my butt in gear, too!
ReplyDeleteI love the cushions...so much fresher and fat! You deserve to eat out tonight! :)
I know....but at least you HAD a list...and worked at it!
DeleteI like the cushions as well...MUCH better than before!
I really must sort out that Raggedy Ann...The embroidery is the most tedious part...AND THE HAIR!!! God...I remember doing them for my 2 girls...and it is brutal...But for wee Vivian...well worth it!
Dinner was delish...and then I spent some cash at the Value Village...lots of good thrifty buys!!!
Poor Linda. That sounds like a bit of an ordeal, but funny! I think you did a great job. I didn't know you sewed, it's nice to know that about you. I used to have some very similar fabric that I used to make a little skirt that I put around a sink that didn't have a vanity or cabinet underneath, so I could hide things underneath. I think I still have some scraps around; we can be fabric twins. :)
ReplyDeleteI made a sink-skirt for the cottage! It has one of those big farm sinks, and I wanted to add a bit of pizz-az!! I started sewing in grade 7...made all my clothes thru highschool, and work as well...Betsy Johnson was my go-to pattern maker in the early '70's....I know, you weren't even born yet!!! ha!
DeleteSewed for my daughters...and then kinda let it go...started again with a new machine [very basic} 2 years ago...Now the projects are piling up!
I would much rather spend time with Vivian!!!
I actually like the ties. The thin ones always end up breaking. As for making a "to-do" list, I need to put that on my "to-do" list.
ReplyDeleteDid you leave any of the pins in the cushions? You must have someone you don't like to invite over!
Ha ha ha!!
DeleteYes...I do actually...but "they" will remain nameless!!
Learning how to sew either by hand or by machine has been on my to do list for....EVER! Thank goodness Marion is quite the handy gal with a needle:)
ReplyDeleteLove the cushions!
Thanks for sharing, Linda...
