Weekend Flower Arrangements.....And a New Kid On The Block!!

I was so excited last weekend...

My friend Devon and her lovely husband Mark...

Came out for a sleepover at the cottage....

When my boyfriend and I arrived Friday at noon....

There had been a lovely rain that morning...

Everything looked really nice and lush...

Especially for August...

Usually everything is pretty well shrivelled by this time of year...

After unpacking...

And discovering the carnage on the beach...I'm still pissed off about the watermelon...I know...i know...get over it!!!
Believe me...I am trying!

I got to work setting up the sunporch,as we would be dining out there....

I also got to work on my flower arrangements...

Luckily for me...

The Hydrangeas were still looking pretty good...

SO...

I snipped a few of those...

Some ribbon grass...

And a few Miscanthus seed heads...

DONE!

For this smaller one...

I added a few "wild" Rudbeckia...

Added a nice touch!

I placed this one inside!

This smaller one....for on the kitchen porch...I added some Sedum...Hydrangea and some Coleus stems that had been broken in the wind...

And my tiny Cantaloupe...perhaps it will ripen??!!

My guests brought me this gorgeous "Disco Bell" Hibiscus...

How beautiful is this???

I gave it a good watering...and think I have found the perfect protected spot to plant her!!

                                                 *************     *************

I have some great pics of our day and evening by the firepit...

BUT...

I can't get my Picasa Editing to work...and I wanted to do a bit of lightening on a few of them...I will wait one more day, and see if it starts working again...I find Pic Monkey a lot of work...and harder to get the pics back to my blog...
Any tips on that, out there??!!   Anything would be appreciated!

                                                 *************   **************

Hope you all had a great day...

Had sweet cheeks today...amd my daughter Lissa visited...
We all had a great time...but...I didn't take any photos...:o(

On the menu tonight...

        Burgers and Fries.....YAY!!!

             Greek salad...

                    Enjoy your evening...

                           Cheers!   :o)

  1. You should start your own business and do bouquets for brides.

  2. Yes, lovely flowers, and I love the way that you added the watermelon that that dirty nasty raccoon ... have you caught up with him yet! Strange you are having picassa problems today, I went back through my blog to show hubby my pics and they had all disappeared!! Gone. I had to put them all back in one by one to each post, which I then copied and made a back up of in case it happens again. I wonder therefore if there is some sort of picassa problem? Anyway, good luck, can't wait to see the pics and if you get the raccoon give him one from me!

  3. I have no tips, I always use Picasa myself and I really like it. Your bouquet is so pretty, isn't is wonderful to be able to bring your own flowers inside? I do buy flowers sometimes in the winter but as long as I have something growing in the yard, I always bring it in. The hibiscus is beautiful and it does look similar to the ones I have!

  4. Yikes, what Amy said about her Picassa is pretty scary. I hope you can figure out what's going on. I haven't played with it lately and just used to to upload pics of our vacation. Your bouquets are very pretty and show that the summer season is fleeting with the colours and choices of the flowers. Pam

    1. I have lost pics on posts before...don't know why!
The creative part of Picasa is still not working...I wanted to edit some and put my initials on them....I guess Picasa is where you would put your logo on all your pics...right?

  5. Gorgeous flower arrangement, love the grasses that give added height.
I use Picasa, downloaded to my computer, for mosaic images. I use Pic Monkey from time to time, just to add a frame. No problems saving it to my computer. I don't use Picasa albums (on the web) to upload to my site, have my own storage on my server so upload that way. Most of the time I use Pixelmator (purchased program for Mac, like Photoshop) to edit and add text to my images. You could try Photovisi for editing, Big Huge Labs or Picful (all free on the web).

  6. Your flower arrangements are gorgeous, as always.
I don't know how to keep up with just one house with gardens, so I can't even imagine how it would be trying to keep up with two.
I wonder if hanging Irish Spring soap in your garden would keep the raccoons away. It seems to work with deer here. We hung it in a plastic mesh bag. My daughter was told the deer don't like the smell. (Maybe that's the kind of soap hunters use... )

    1. I will try the Irish Spring...my boyfriend uses that!!
Perhaps I should just hang him in a mesh bag, and leave him on the beach all week!!! hahaha!
Your veggie garden is HUGE...you and James have done an awesome job!
Mine is mostly perennials...and they take care of themselves...
