A Flurry of Flapping and Chirping....

After my shower this morning...

While still in my washroom...

I could see a flurry of activity....flapping of wings....chattering of cheeps... outside my bathroom window....

A few even landed on my window sill...

I remember that this usually happens every late fall.... early winter....

The Starlings arrive....

By the !00's....

All scavenging for the berries...

Along the house....from the Boston ivy.....

I couldn't take any pictures thru my window...as the screen distorts the picture...

Sooo...

Out I go ....into the back yard....and of course they all flew away...to the

front of the house...and settled in one of our big maples beside the

driveway....

Far from where I was standing...

But...of course...I had my trusty zoom with me.....zooooom to the front tree...

Got a pretty decent picture I think....

But they would not come back to the berries while I was out there...

This is what all the hub-bub was about....these shrivelled up berries!!!

I guess if you are a Starling.....these are absolutely delicious!!!!

As you can see from the sky in these pictures...it was a VERY dull day indeed...

Think there is a storm pushing in for tonight and tomorrow...

Not supposed to affect us here too much...

But my American friends...who will be travelling for Thanksgiving...

May find it a wee bit difficult to get around....

And for the Maritimes.....lots of rain!

                                      *******

Got a  bit of sewing done today...and..oh yes...I got a hair cut!

Now I can wine and complain about how short it is for a few weeks!!!

What a pain I am....at lease I can admit it!!!!

                                                          *******

I want to get one of those cute little deer that light up....

To complete our festive decor...

                                                        *******

Hope you are all having a great day....

I am fighting another cold.....:o(....it is neverending!

Going to go and crochet....finishing off another present♥

Enjoy the rest of your day...

Got your tree up yet????

                                    **********

                            Cheers!   :o)

  1. The last haircut I got was cut way too short so now I am afraid to go get it cut again. Maybe next week I will work up the nerve.

  2. Hello! It is amazing what attracts the birds isn't it. I have to say those berries would not be my first choice! Lovely to see the starlings though isn't it, they go mad for the bird feeders. Looking forward to seeing your deer if you get one - and the rest of your decorations of course, oh, and the sewing and the crochet - when you can show! - and everything. Gosh, what a nosy I am!! Hope that your cold gets better soon. I hate it when they drag on. No decs up here yet, too early for the English, I will start with adventy things though on Sunday. Hope the snow stays away from you for a bit at least. What a lot of writing all after itself - hee hee!! Keep warm - that is an order btw! xx

  3. I hope you feel better soon. Your birds reminded me of a group of birds we always pass on the road going to my son's school; for some reason, a huge group of them sits on one section of the power lines and nowhere else. We think maybe the wires are warm in that area? I hope it doesn't mean there's a problem with the power lines over there. But sometimes there will be a hundred birds just sitting in that short space and literally zero birds for half a mile on either side. It's weird.

  5. We had those huge flocks of starlings a couple of weeks ago ... such a lot of chatter. Now just the odd one shows up.
It has been rainy since late morning and about and hour or so ago it changed over to snow. We are under storm watch ... perhaps 10 cm around our area. If we have to stay home tomorrow we will ... and I just might put up my Christmas village.
Oh no ... not another cold. I've been pretty healthy since I stopped working with the ankle biters! No matter how cute they are they bring lots of germs with them.

  6. the tree goes up on thanksgiving day. and last year i didn't take it down until new year's day!
how i love the lights. never tire of them.
or birds. such precious little beings. even the starlings that some people don't like.
i like to hear them "visit" with each other. sometimes when it's quiet they carry on conversation like sounds.
    amazing!
don't let that cold turn into pneumonia again! xo

  7. The tree is up and decorated! We had European starlings here last winter for the first time (that I noticed) so I'll be watching for them this season. They are hogs at the feeder though. We're waiting on the big rain and wind storm. Not looking forward to it but glad I don't have to be out tomorrow for anything. Not even the dogs.

  8. I don't think I've seen starlings before but can only imagine what a wonderful sight it was. You've done well to photograph them!
