The time finally arrived...
No more sleepovers for 2013....:o(
No more firepits and gazing at the stars...
No more dinners and dancing on the sunporch...
Well...
At least not this year...
But...
I am already...
Dreaming of...
An.....early...
SPRING!!!!
Our nieghbour told us, that the winds on Sunday night...
Were...
Incredible....
You can see by the debris pushed up, just how far the waves were washing in...
And...
It was so darn cold, that we didn't even clean it all up!!!
We usually do...
Pile it al in the bonfire pit...
But not yesterday...
It was bitter with the raging winds!
I had posted this picture, from our last week's visit...
The cinder block wedged here, was new to me...
Well...surprise...surprise...
This week...
GONE!!!! {next photo down}
Since we have owned the cottage, this cement collection has been dwindling every year...and apparently...every week!!!
When we first started coming here...we used to sit up here...with chairs!!!
At the end of the day...and enjoy the sunset!
I must look for some old photos...and scan them...
There won't be much blogging material, now that she is closed for the season...:o(
The waves also washed in tons of old Zebra Mussel shells...
Haven't seen these for a few years..
Check out this HUGE piece of Sea Glass that I found...
Glad I braved the nasty weather..
and headed down to the beach....
While my boyfriend tended to shutting off the water...
Emptying the lines...
Opening all the taps...
{all the hard stuff}...
I got busy in the kitchen...before the water was turned off..
Cleaned out the fridge...
Looks pretty good!
I usually leave it running...but...at the last minute...decided to unplug her...
And give her a rest for a few months!
Gave the bathroom a quick wash...and no sooner than I had finished...
The rain started...straight from the South....YUCK!!!!
When all was done...
My boyfriend and I sat down...watched the rain...and enjoyed....
A coffee...and a nice piece of Buttermilk Blueberry Breakfast Cake...♥
Looking out at our favorite view....in the whole wide world....
Lovely Green Dianthus...resting on the bench....enjoying the downpour! |
Zoomed in on the beach deck...waves are so rough...they are spitting stones up onto the deck! |
We are happy we got it closed down...
But...
We are sad that it is closed down...
Make sense???♥
Time to concentrate on Christmas...
Another favorite around here...
Today's flower pick....
For all of your to enjoy...
The Fantastic White Cosmos...
Love this!♥
Hope you are all having a great day...miserable as it is!!!
What is your weather like today???
*******
I tried to email a few replies to some of you...
And...for some ridiculous reason....Yahoo would not send any emails to
Hotmail accounts!
They redesigned the email as well...and perhaps it was temporarily out of order...will try again!
******
On the menu this Friday evening....
Slow-roasted Lamb Shanks...simmering in beef broth and Passatta...
Plenty of sea salt and fresh cracked pepper...
Simmering with onions,carrots and potateos..
*I also add a sprinkle of cinnamon to my lamb dishes*....shhhhhh...don't tell anyone!
Enjoy your evening...
Cheers! :o)
linda
oh cc girl. you'll have plenty to blog about. just walking room to room in your town home will be enough magic for us groupies!
ReplyDeleteour weather is typical oklahoma style winter. hours of ice laden roads high winds and now possible snow to cover the ice. makes driving such fun.
someday if i live long enough maybe we will have a nice heavy fluffy CALM white snow without the ice first.
like the ones i remember from my childhood time in upstate new york. i love the huge white flakes floating down and the wonderland it leaves! here we usually have ice broken trees and power lines down. LOL.
We get ice storms...but not very often!
DeleteWe will shovelling here, before you know it!
Beautiful photos...I could almost feel the chill in the air just looking at them! Always sad to close down the cottage for the winter...but it looks clean and tidy and you'll be back soon to enjoy things sprouting from the ground! And you'll have a head start on your tan because you will have been to Florida! :)
ReplyDeleteYes....a tan....love that!
DeleteThe lake sure looks cold Linda! Love the photos though as it's beautiful even on a cold, windy and rainy day. Now you'll have to share life in the city in winter with us, walks in the snow, the garden in winter, delicious meals with candlelight, Christmas decor and baking. There's still lots to share. And don't forget Miss V. I am wondering if you tried to email me and didn't get through. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes...I did, Pam! But was successful today♥
DeleteWe went for a chilling walk earlier....ski jacket and all!!!
Who is stealing your cement collection . . . WHO???
ReplyDeleteThe Lake!!! :o)
DeleteI was going to ask if you are able to make your cabin livable in the winter. My guess is it gets way too cold. My dad has a cabin on the west coast and though some people live there all year long it can be dangerous. One year the winds were so bad it ripped the roof off my dad's cabin. The next day the caretakers of the village packed up their things and moved.
ReplyDeleteWay too cold...and it is not winterized...we do the best we can, with what we have!!
DeleteBrrrrr, it sure looks cold at the lake!!! Do you not have heat there? Too much snow? Why do you have to close her up? I would be sad too. I know how much you both love it there. I know, because, that is how we feel about our Big Bear!!
ReplyDeleteThe the last 48 hours, we have had glorious rain! I have been wearing boots and scarves, and love it! We have gotten a lot of snow up in Big Bear, and are eager to go over Thanksgiving weekend next week.
Oh, do you know Tim Hortons coffee? Our friend Joline, from Edmonton sent me some today. So good!!!! She says it is very popular there in Canada.
Debating whether or not to drive up tomorrow to cabin to check things out.
XO Kris
1.We have a fireplace...and a few heaters
Delete2. Never know how much snow there will be...most of it is Lake Effect snow
3. We draw our water from the lake...and the pipes would freeze...
4. Yes indeedy...we both ♥ it there!
5. Tim Horton's is great coffee...and donuts!!!
Hope you take a drive and check out your place...
It does look cold by the lake. Won't be so long until Spring though. At least, that is what I keep having to remind myself!
ReplyDeleteHere it is calmer, but down to -4 last night which is chilly for November.
Me too....only a few months...*sigh*..we are below average temps here as well...
DeleteIt sure looked cold at the cottage ... high winds here today, brief snow squalls passing through, lovely sunny patches in between ... glad to be inside with the delicious smell of veggie soup wafting through the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteOur server doesn't like Hotmail or perhaps Hotmail doesn't like our server and I had to remove all hotmail email addys from my automatic mailing list as it kept jamming us up. I probably lost a fair number of followers because of it.
Stay warm, enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Love when there are lovely aromas coming from the kitchen...
DeleteThe Hotmail works now....wonder what it was??
Enjoy your weekend♥
Cheers!
Linda :o)
The water washed up some cool stuff! I know you are always sad when you closes the cottage :( Soon you will be in warmer climes by the ocean anyway, enjoying the beach, with lots of photo ops! Not long to wait....
ReplyDeleteI know...that you know...how I feel about the cottage♥
DeleteNow...bring on Christmas!!
It must be bittersweet to close up the cottage for the winter. It sounds like it's a very important part of your life. I am sure you'll make lots more great memories there next year. I received the birthday card you sent and it's beautiful! Thank you so much for thinking of me, Linda. <3
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome Jennifer....Many Happy Returns!!
DeleteToday right?
Happy Birthday!
I can just imagine what your concrete beach was like. We made a stop at Thunder Bay a couple years ago and the old concrete was still there, cracked and growing grass, but still sturdy enough to set a picnic table and chairs on. Guess it won't be there long either. (I tried looking at it on a Google maps satellite image but the clouds were in the way.)
ReplyDeleteI am already looking forward to spring. The wind is wild here tonight!
:0)
Gosh, it sure looks like it was a cold day Linda, and so much debris washed up. I think that the raccoon is the one who has made off with your concrete - I'm blaming him poor thing for everything! The good thing is that you will be back and that you had such a great summer! xx I see that my favourite pine needles are still there! xx
