I Love Kalanchoes.....

I have often posted about my love for Kalanchoes on this blog....

I have them year 'round....and they perform beautifully...

The small white ones here...are from before Christmas...

They were part of my Christmas table...and  are still going strong...

They are a member of the succulent family...and require little attention...

A good watering every few weeks...deadhead the spent blooms...

      Remove any dried up leaves...

                                    BEAUTIFUL!!!

You can purchase them at any grocery store...inexpensive...colorful...

I think a good adjective for Kalanchoe is...

                                HARDWORKING....

                          Never cease to amaze me...

The Pink is a newer acquisition....have had it since returning from Florida...

She sits on my kitchen table...and soaks up the sun all day...

When you buy one....get one with a lot of closed buds...

That way....they will last even longer...if that is possible!

The white one is also a double flower...even more luxurious...

They do great outdoors as well...

When put outside, they will flower for an entire Summer....

                                  HONESTLY!

Besides my beloved African Violet...this is the best plant for me...

And....come to think of it....I have NO Violets right now...

Time to pick up a few.....

     To brighten things up...

We need all the help we can get!!!

                                 ****************

Very cold today....sunny...but cold and windy....

Lots of icey patches still around....

Hope you all had a great weekend....

Anything exciting planned for the week ahead????

                                  ******************

On the menu this sunny Sunday...

                Roasted Turkey Breast...

                  Mashed Potatoes, carrots, brussel sprouts

                     Gravy and stuffing

Enjoy the rest of your day

                          Cheers! :o)

I looked for african violets at the grocery last week and didn't see any. They did have gardenias, though! I've never had one...the foliage is beautiful. Can't wait for it to bloom!

  9. Kalanchoes are really cute plants and I think yours are gorgeous and healthy looking. I like the pink one. Usually there are lots of red ones available here in the winter and I've been looking for pink or white. You have a green thumb Linda! They all look so happy. No plans this week. We'll be shovelling snow on Wednesday and Thursday. Ha! Ridiculous. 30 - 40 cm.??? Yikes!

  10. I have several succulents, but never saw these too, and the blooms like this. I will have to look for them. My favorite is a small one called the rock succulent. Looks just like a rock all year long, and then right around Palm Sunday or Easter...out pops one tiny yellow flower that looks like a tiny sunflower. I call it my resurrection plant, life coming forth from a rock. Have you ever seen one. I will post it this year when the flower comes.

  12. I love the white one. It looks so thick and luscious. I gotta get me one. It's still so cold here, too and tomorrow the same. BUT...only one more week I hear and then Spring weather. Won't it be great when we don't even mention this dastardly weather anymore. Broccolli and cheese Quiche, rice with carrot, corn and cauliflower & ice-cream with strawberries & blueberries to top it off. It's a no-meat night for all of us.
    Enjoy your evening Linda.

  16. My mom gave me a Kalenchoe for Easter one year. It was pretty and bloomed for about three years then all of sudden died. I should get myself another one.
