After returning from the cottage on Sunday...
My Peonies had flopped...literally...all over the respective tables they were placed on...
Sad....when the Peonies come to an end...but never fear...
There were 3 buds left in one vase...that had not opened yet...
Being the ever optimist...I trimmed them down...found a small bud vase...
Placed them inside...hoping...perhaps...at least one of them would open...
There were 2 pink and 1 white...
It only took one night...
The next morning this greeted me...
Isn't she beautiful?
You can still see the white bud...and to the bottom left...the other pink bud...
I was happy that at least one of them had started to unfurl...
But I never expected this!!!
The next morning....this greeted me at the kitchen table...
She is even MORE beautiful than before....if that is possible...
Very tiny....but very fragrant...and seemingly happy to be alive!
Not to be outdone by her big sister...
The other wee pink bud....pushed and pushed...and well.... will you look at that!
This morning her smiling face greeted me...and I said..."Hello Darlin'"...
Welcome....
The moral of the story is...
Never underestimate the tenacity of a Peony bud....NEVER!!!
Sad to say....the White bud just didn't have it in her...she actually fell off!!!
Oh dear.....never mind little white bud....you did your best...
And that...my friends...is all you can ask....
````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Hope you all had a great day...
Another dark...gloomy...sweaty...humid one here today...
Humidex readings near 35*c....VERY sticky....indeed....
Did my groceries...and actually remembered to bring them all home!!! hahaha!
Gonna make some chili tomorrow for the cottage...I know it's hot...but I feel like chili!!
Got a great deal on a HUGE chicken...so she is gonna hang out in the crockpot tomorrow...
Miss V is coming for a sleepover...tomorrow...YAY...and we hope to get into the pool with her...
My kitchen will be dark and alone tonight...we're going out!!
Enjoy the rest of your day....
And...a special welcome to a few new followers...so happy you could join us!
Cheers! :o)
Now that is positive thinking! I've wondered what to do with unopened buds too.
ReplyDeleteIt's cooled down a bit with this rain. I still don't have the temperature conversion chart working in my mind, but I know how to google it. Looks like we're down to about 21 degrees Celsius. Sounds like chili weather to me.
:0)
I was quite thrilled! I am an easy target!
DeleteWe got a downpour while out for a meal...nothing this afternoon...
Still steamy out there!
Yes....chili weather for sure!
Our peonies bloomed,the rainstorm came, they drooped with the weight of the water. I know how they feel.
ReplyDeleteJane x
Well I hope you got a few photos!
DeleteNo reason not to eat chilli when it is hot, after all if you think about it people in India eat spicy food all year round and it gets very warm out there doesn't it! The peonies are beautiful, it is always worth trimming things up and giving them a fresh drink as you never know when little buds will turn into something so stunning do you! xx
ReplyDeleteYup...you are right....chili is going on the stove tomorrow!
DeleteIt will be perfect for Friday night dinner on the sunporch....
Crusty Rosemary bread......oh dear.....can't wait!
oh so lovely, blooms, I think they are one of my favorites for sure, have a wonderful time with Miss V!
ReplyDeleteWill do Laurie....I had to put my word verification back on....some spam leaked in. :o(
DeleteBeautiful - it all looks like the Garden Of Eden :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha! And I bought apples today! Thanks Eddie....
DeleteDo you like the new header?
DeleteApples!! . . . . . . . are you going to tempt me with one?
DeleteHeader - Yes truly beautiful and I can almost smell from here - lovely!
Thanks Eddie......
DeleteWow! Those peonies are amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra....you up and running yet?
DeleteThanks Gloria....now we have to wait another year to see them again.....but....the ones at the cottage have not bloomed yet....perhaps this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI wish I didn't hate the heat so bad. Do you what kind of flowers will grow inside?
ReplyDeleteNot sure what you mean Bonnie......you mean houseplants?
DeleteYou wouldn`t believe how many clients have said to me ``Help yourself to peonies while we are away.`` The rain that we got yesterday beat them all up a bit, though. The peony has always been my daughter`s favorite flower.
ReplyDeleteNow she grows them in her own yard. :) We are in for more humid, wet weather the next few days. Just like yours, I guess. I`ll never complain, though after that hideous winter.
We'll I hope you did cut some.....they truly are amazing flowers....
ReplyDeleteWe got a downpour around 6:30....hope it clears for tomorrow....
We want to get Miss V into the pool♥️
Your peonies are gorgeous! Mine are still blooming and I am surprised that the heavy rain we got on Tuesday didn't finish them. Enjoy your time with Vivian. They grow up so fast.
ReplyDeleteTell me about it!
DeleteShe'll be 2 in a couple of weeks!
lovely little peony blooms, I've trimmed my bush down a bit outside now it is all finished till next year
ReplyDeleteI must do the same thing...although I do like the foliage!
DeleteBut..they are interfering with my tall grasses...
What a pretty surprise for you. It is such a delicate pink. It's raining a pour here today, the same system you got. But, it's supposed to be sunny and hot for the next few days once this leaves. Yay! I'll be away the weekend so I hope you have a great one and enjoy the Canada Day holiday too. xx Pam
ReplyDeleteToday is quite pleasant...pool all heated up...let's go for a swim!!
Cottage tomorrow....Miss V tonight!
Your peonies are so pretty! I've never grown them but I've always enjoyed them. Do yours get a lot of ants on them? I've seen peonies with ants a lot. They must be very sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteThe ants gnawing on the Peony is what opens the bud to flower.
DeleteHey.....when did you sneak in here Deb? Hahaha!
DeleteYes Jennifer....
Lots of ants.....
I saw in Betsy's Miss V is a little sick oh dear hope she feeling better soon!
