July 31st.....A Day To Remember♥️

Remember my happy wee sunflower that grew in my planter?

Well look at him today!

He is looking so bright and happy...

It made me smile...

Inspite of my heavy heart today...

My dear brother Tom...

Passed away 17 years ago today...

He was only 39 years old...

Broke a lot of people's hearts when he died...

I miss him endlessly...

Speak of his crazy antics often...

My kids adored him, 'cause he was silly...not afraid to have fun...always a smile on his face...

So...

This bright sunny flower...

Makes me think of Tom...

We miss you...

Love you...

Forever...♥️

He was 7 years my junior, so I had a lot of babysitting chores!...Mom and Dad were very busy socially, and my older brother Bill and I were often left to take care of Tom and my younger sister...never a dull moment I'll tell 'ya!
He was an avid Fisherman, and we would rent a cottage with him in the summer...the kids had a ball with him...always into something...
My boyfriend tells hilarious stories of fishing trips with him...
He died one month before we got our cottage...but I had shown him pictures, and he couldn't be happier for us...
He also inherited my parents love of cooking...as we all did...and we would always spend the holidays together...Turkey was always delicious!
Nice 80's hairdo on me, eh???

 Rest in peace Tommy...

Oh how he would loved loved this wee one! And she would have had so much fun with him♥️

We will raise a glass of cheer to you this evening Tom....

Love 'ya...

He always used to phone me...and say "Hi Honey"...still brings tears to me eyes...

                                             Cheers!  :o)

  6. What can I say, Linda? - other than so dreadfully sorry you lost him. Words are totally inadequate - the loss of your dear little brother, so sad, even after 17 years.. He looked so happy and the life and soul of the party. Only 39 - very tragic. He must have had a big, big heart and loved you lots and lots.. And yes he would have loved Miss V

I am sure I would have got on very well with him - "silly and not afraid to have fun and always a smile on face".

Loved the piccies of the sun flower.

But Linda . . . .thank you thank you - you used a word on your post tonight I was searching for, "AVID". I was scratching my head to see what the crossword clue was and there it is.

    Cheers ~ Eddie :)

  11. I'm so sorry about your brother, Linda. This is a heartwarming tribute to him. I completely understand how you feel. My brother died in 2009, much too young. I miss him terribly, and not a day goes by that I don't think of him.

    2. Thank you, Linda. I made a typo. He died in 2011, not in 2009, so it's even more recent. But no matter what how much time has gone by, they are always missed. <3

  13. I would think that the longer someone is away from us the easier it gets but the opposite is true. The longer they are gone the more the ache.

  16. I'm not sure what to say - your post captured the love you have for your brother but also the zest of his life how he lived, how he loved - his energy how it was a part of him and how it affected the people in his life - enjoy the sunflower

  19. Tom sounds as though he was a great brother, son and uncle. It is so sad that he died, but so great that you carry him along in your memories and by sharing him with us. I hope that you were not too too sad on this day, but remembered the good times and the fun that you had together. It certainly looks as though that turkey was under some intense scrutiny!! Take care of yourself my dear friend and have a big hug from me. xxxxxxxxxxx

  21. Thinking of you, Linda. It's very tough. I lost my youngest brother in 2007 - he was 47 years old. Your post is a lovely tribute to him and the love you shared. And how fitting that the sunflowers are shining so brightly. ANd such a beautiful header too.
