We headed for the cottage on Thursday morning, as the weather people, said it would be a great day out on Lake Erie...
We arrived to a soggy, steamy, messy cottage...lots of dirt washed up from the rains and winds...and the KEYS from the Maple trees...don't get me started on that!!
We had some lunch, and got started on our various tasks...
Boyfriend blew,raked and swept keys..
Then he tried to murder them with the lawnmower...but every attempt failed...miserably!!
And....every time the wind picked up...they would come twirling down!!
I chose the sunporch and kitchen porch as my projects...cleaned, wiped, swept, polished from top to bottom...lovely and clean...after we had both finished, we were sweaty and dirty...We decided we should have at least one cold beer before our showers...well...perhaps 2...hahaha!
After all of that...feeling refreshed and clean...we settled back on the beach deck, to watch the goings on...birds, squirrels, chipmunks...you get the idea...
Well...the skies darkened....and the fog started to drift in..and I mean pea soup fog!!! In we went, as a sort of misty rain, accompanied the fog!!
We decided to watch the news, and see if we could get a weather report...
We ate dinner, and then was when I got the bird shots...thru the window!!
Around 8pm...the sky cleared...and the wind died down...too wet to sit outside, so our beloved screened sunporch was clean as a whistle, and whistling our names!!
I enjoyed my flower pots that I had planted out there...my son and Anna gave me those for my birthday!! Nice, eh??
SO.............that was our Thursday...
I wonder what Friday will have in store for us??? hmmmmm....
Hope you all had a great weekend...
Got around to a few of you...not all...will get there...promise!!
We had Miss V today...gosh it was hot at the park!!
She dangled her toe toes in the pool to cool off!!
Enjoy the rest of your day...
Cheers! :o)
linda

Hi Linda, thought I would pay you a return visit. Wow, you have gorgeous flowers and your cottage is too. I see now that you're just north instead of across the pond. My assumption...because of your closing, Cheers! HaHa!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you stopped by....
DeleteI believe we can become great bloggy friends....right Betsy?
Absolutely! :)
DeleteI knew you would agree!
DeleteLove the shot of the doves. They really are such beautiful birds. The little gold finch...would that be a young one? It looks like it may be this spring's baby. Love your begonias. They are such lush & colourful flowers. Deb

Wonderful photos Linda ! Yes the weather people have been soo wrong this week it is to laugh lol ! I find the weather by our lake Erie is total different and we are only a 6min drive from it and so we get the lake effect weather . Thanks for sharing , have a good day !
ReplyDeleteOur weather sucked the whole weekend....well, almost!
DeleteLove the photos, as always, but especially the one with Smurfette standing near the cute duck! And the one with elves or leprauchans...not sure what they are, but they're funky! And of course, you snuck in your feet, ha, ha. Have a good week...
ReplyDeleteHi Hester!
DeleteAll my wee friends on the sunporch have a history.....thanks for noticing!
Yes...finally got a pedicure....had to share!
Enjoy your week....
I am a little jealous of your rain. We had a small shower last week but other than that, nothing. It is actually getting a little scary.
ReplyDeleteThat's ok Birdie....I know that some areas of BC are on fire.....and it is dangerous out there....
DeleteI'm loving the third photo but the flowers are foreign to me...then again I'm not good at this. Funny how we are having the same weather...the fog is thick in the morning and the humidity is suffocating. We've had tornadoes---numerous tonight and in the past 5 hours just south of us...so much damage we won't know til tomorrow when it's daylight. We were spared but I had all of the right stuff at hand in case we had to go 'underground'.
ReplyDeleteSun porches are fabulous. We never wanted to enclose our covered patio off the lakehouse so we built a sort of detached little 'house' with 7 screened windows that we can close in the winter and in inclement weather. I adore the space but it is a jog from the house if you want to escape the rain, coming or going!! Ha!
Jane x
Hi Jane....
DeleteThat is a Portulaca....succulent....nice,eh?
I saw your weather on the news this morning...lots of damage!
Ours has a door from inside....just screens, so....if the rain is from the south, with any wind, it gets soaked!
We do have winter shutters that go on....
Stay safe from the storms!
Beautiful photos! That begonia is absolutely outstanding. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn.....I do ♥️ them!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Lovely flowers, my begonias are doing amazing this year, must love the location. We had terrific thunder storms early, early this morning and heavy rains. But what else is new, we go shopping on Tuesday and lately it has always been a wet day! I own't be around much for a few weeks, heading out to BC to visit family on Vancouver Island. I hired 2 gardeners (grandkids here) to come and water my veggies and pots. Had to negotiate a price with the oldest grandson who is just finishing grade 2 :)
ReplyDeleteI put mine back from the deck when I leave....
DeleteHave a great time Linda....you must be very excited!
How cute is the grandson watering your plants.....♥️
Ahhh, summers at the cottage! Can hardly wait to experience it right along with you!
ReplyDeleteVery hot here. Ugh!
XO Kris
Hi Kris.....I see that you are hot and dry down there....
DeleteFingers crossed you get some rain!
You look like you are having a great time!
The stormy pics are lovely!
ReplyDeleteI know..every week brings a new clean up project..the pollen..the helicopters, now branches of oaks w/ leaves attached..
fun..much more to do in summer than winter..:)
Rain today..national holiday tomorrow and school's ou t today too.
The keys drive me nutty! Branches of oak leaves? Must be those darn squirrels!
DeleteDo you see your grandsons much in the summer?
Hi Linda. Love the beautiful blooms and especially the begonia in your header. It's such a pretty shade. The weather is crazy and just not nice or very summery at all. I really hope July will be better and warmer. Enjoy your day! xx Pam
ReplyDeleteYes Pam....crazy weather for sure! We are either freezing....sweating....or dripping from the rain!
DeleteI hope July is better too!
As if the flowers didn't get my best attention - suddenly a little female smurf!
ReplyDeleteDIXIE! Welcome back! I have missed you!
DeleteThe female surf was a gift from my daughter Lissa.....cool, eh?
they certainly do speak for themselves. the banner picture alone is worth the whole visit! oh my.
ReplyDeleteand i know you're ready for some HOT sunshine! wish i could give you some of ours... in the mid 90's (35 C) with HIGH humidity.

Beautiful, eh Tammy?
DeleteYou could grow them all year where you live!
Oh....it is hot here....not as hot as you, but hot and humid!
Glad you enjoyed the pictures....mission accomplished!
It's been some crazy weather for sure!
ReplyDeleteNext time it fogs up I'm taking my camera to the lake.
:0)
We keep getting fog at the cottage.....must be the cold lake...how is the new job?
DeleteHi Linda, beautiful shots of the birds and flowers. Your home looks very charming. The weather here in Oregon has been strange too!
ReplyDeleteHi Cheri...this is our cottage on Lake Erie...very nice spot!
DeleteOregon is a beautiful place...thanks for stopping by!!
You have lots of beautiful flowers, Linda. And I love the baskets for containers! I've been on blog break so I have lots of catching up to do. Hope your week is a good one!
ReplyDeleteHey Cheryl!
DeleteI started doing the baskets a few years back...too difficult to maintain annuals at the cottage...with the baskets, I can move them inot the shade when we leave...aren't I a smart cookie??
