I seem to be having a hard time getting a post together the past few weeks...
There dont seem to be enough hours in the day anymore...
Or...
I am just getting old!!
Anyway...here is a quick catch up on the last week...
Spent the evening poolside on Thursday, with our friends Devon and Mark, who moved across the country to British Columbia last fall...
Unfortunately the clouds rolled in...what else is new...and we ate dinner inside..
It was lovely seeing them again...
Devon brought me a lovely Rose coloured Kalanchoe, which I have taken to the cottage for the Summer...
Thanks Devon!!
Here it is...ain't she a beauty?? ♥️
Will have to see how long I can keep her going...
I usually have pretty good luck with this plant...
Here is what Friday afternoon and evening looked like at the cottage...
This is one of our neighbours to the West...
We were in the middle of some chores, when the skies blackened...the wind was very gusty...and the rain very heavy...
The power was out for 2 hours!!
Needless to say, we spent the day inside...
But...we were kinda tired from the night before anyway! hahaha!
Saturday proved to be an absolutely gorgeous day...
We got lots of outdoor work done...
All my baskets are planted...
And doing very well indeed..
These Begonias are so beautiful...love them!!
Here is the Kalanchoe that Devon gave me...
Brought her inside before I left!!
Early evenings are fabulous at the cottage , when it is sunny...
This is the view from the kitchen...
I had a hole cut in the wall, and a window installed, shortly after we bought 18 years ago...
One of the best decisions I ever made!
Boyfriend bringing the cushions in, while I get dinner on the go!!
Just enough time, to grab a bit more "sun" time!!
Before we head in...to eat dinner on the sunporch...my favorite place..♥️
Sunday was another rain event day...and very humid...
We had planned to stay over again...but not in the rain!!
Rained most of the drive home...
Have Miss V today...her and I went to the grocery store...
Picked up some nice Cod...which, of course...is soaking in a buttermilk bath!!
She is still napping...so thought I better get a post done...or you will all think I have shrivelled up!!
Still taking lots of pics...and cooking...perhaps some jam later in the week...
I do freezer jam...much easier...and really, just as tasty!!
Hope you are all having a great day...
Raining or sunny??
Humid or cool??
Seems like the whole worlds weather has gone kooky...
Enjoy your new week...anything on your agenda???
Cheers! :o)

After a dull and grey weekend - and none too warm - it has been lovely here today, hubby is now sitting outside for an after dinner sit and I am just going to join him! I wish that it would be nice all the time in the summer. Shame about your rain at the cottage, that isn't fair. It should always be nice when you are there!! Beautiful kalanchoe from Devon. Mine are outside sunning themselves now! I thought of you when I put them out and think of you when I see them! Hope you have a good week. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Amy.....such a nice thing to say! Thanks!
DeleteHope you have a great week too.....cheers!
Hi Linda
ReplyDeleteLoved the lovely Rose coloured Kalanchoe gifted by Devon and was good to hear of the happy visit,
Loved especially shot no 2 ~ beautiful. This is indeed as action packed and eventful post ~ shame about the bad weather ar the cottage.but it was ok for some of the time and you had a nice beer. . . . :)
Weather rather nice here and drove bus today. Sat and Sun worked at daughter's house in the garden . . . :)
Hi Eddie....
DeleteIt was great seeing Devon....afraid it will be a very long time before I see her again......:o(
Oh....I had more than one beer! Hahaha!
Love that you enjoy the garden, Eddie....how about a few pics?
I fear the weather isn't the only thing gone kooky...

What? Me too? Yes....you are right....I am kooky! You got me! Hahaha!
DeleteK is for KOOKY. It's good enough for me.

Oh Martha...you break me up!!
DeleteWhew! I feel like we just had a full afternoon of chatting. You covered a lot here, Linda. Your photos are gorgeous. What is the plant called that is posted under the one Devon gave you with the red blooms? I have one and don't even know what it is. Your pool is gorgeous. I'd be sitting by it, too all evening. I'm going to do the same thing Betsy did, name my plants with wood sticks. She wants to be like you... me, too. :) Everything is blooming here, even my violets in the house. :)) Dinner sounds wonderful. Enjoy, Deb
ReplyDeleteHi Deb....
DeleteThat would be a Begonia....very pretty ,eh? I love any kind of a Begonia.....♥️
I would love to have you sitting next to me chatting away....oh the things we could talk about!
I don't think Betsy wants to be like me....not at all.....she is Wonder Woman!
Enjoy your evening.....
Very lovely post today. Love all your flowers. The milk glass vase is beautiful. I have all of my MIL's milk glass, and love to put flowers in the vases.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wanda....another thrifty buy....love anything white!
Deletetruth to tell... i WAS starting to wonder if you're okay!
ReplyDeletethen just figured you were busy visiting with devon while she was there.
if i had your home i think i would never even leave for the cottage!
i love it.
that pool and all the plants trees and flowers... heaven.
glad everything's okay. xo
Oh...I'm not ok....but I'll never tell! Hahaha!
DeleteYes...I'm fine....just extremely busy....doing whatever the heck it is that I do!
Does that make any sense at all?
I do love my backyard....it has seen its day....cannot compare to the cottage♥️
Have a great week, Tammy♥️
It wasn't a bad day, warm and humid this afternoon, but quite nice now. Time just goes by way to fast when you are having fun. Rain overnight and tomorrow morning. Figured it would rain tomorrow as we usually get groceries on Tuesdays and lately they have been wet days. I see I have some pea pods on the first row of peas I planted and we've been having radishes from the garden, sweet little French breakfast ones. Very tasty
ReplyDeleteNot bad here either....got out for a walk with Miss V....and a walk after dinner....
DeletePerhaps some gardening tomorrow!
Love radishes!
I hear ya Linda. I find the days pass by way way too quickly. We have been on the wet side here in the Ottawa area and a few tornado watches..... My gardens don't look too awful. Of course the hostas are exploding. We have been spending a lot of time with our Miss D.... as we are heading to Alberta to have a visit with our other 2 G kiddos who turn 4 this year. Your cottage life is very inspiring. Thanks for posting...:-)
ReplyDeleteYes....a very soggy summer so far.....but....oh so lush!
DeleteHave a great trip!
Rain rain go away come again another day!!! Love your flowers.
ReplyDeleteAmen Linda!
DeleteI love the flowers too!
Wonderful photos and post ! Yes we got some storms here but seems most storms travel south of us and to thee east along the shores of lake Erie , guess that's when you get it hit at your cottage . It has been humid here rainy , sunny, and overcast all at the same time lol ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteYes Elaine....tons of rain out there!
DeleteHow far away are you?
Where do I begin . . .
ReplyDeleteSo lovely . . . flowers and touches . .
Illusion Begonis is very pretty and something new I am not familiar with that your friend Devon gave you. Kalenchoe or something.
Oh my, I have to search it out. It looks like velvet in the photos . . .
You too have a porch to sit on, water views, trees . . . pretties. How lovely . . .
I am very happy I met you through Pam . . .
Love . . . Lynne
Hi Lynne....
DeleteI am a HUGE fan of Kalanchoe....it is a succulent....they last for months and months!
I have 5 outside now....love them!
Thanks for your kind words....glad you are here!
Your flowers look lovely! They sure are loving the rain!
ReplyDeleteYes they sure are! Bursting with happiness!
DeleteI so enjoy reading about your days, Linda. You have a way of making the most simple of routines seem so lovely. Your meals and gardening and rushing out if the rains. Anyway---I spotted your boyfriend out doing the cushions right away---great silhouette! All your meals--delish and seeing your man again, with your empty spot for sure with the cool beers waiting, oh my, I miss the lake!
ReplyDeleteYes---everything is wonky---here in the states...rain everywhere in the Midwest here by me, terrible storms in the south with flooding, droughts along the West coast. This afternoon and evening we had tornado warnings, heavy rains and flooding in our area. It's very odd to have this sort of weather so close to downtown...not sure why. Abby called me, stuck in traffic and high water, no one moving and in a not so great neighborhood. I never felt so helpless. She was going to come here and then figured her best route was to turn north back toward her apartment/house. Two hours later she arrived and in tears. I'm frightful of storms as I grew up on the Illinois prairies and I'm ashamed that I passed that fear on to my children. Well, better to be cautious. Poor girl. I wish she had come here for comfort and a good meal.
Love to you and keep sending out those pretty garden and cottage pics! :)
Jane xxx
HI Jane...
Deletei saw that Chicago is getting WAY too much rain! stay safe...
Glad your daughter came out ok...such a worry!!
Will do!!
Always fun to catch up with you here and no need to feel guilty that you've been busy. Just back and forth to your wonderful cottage takes lots of prep time and energy! The rain has been great for the gardens, our evening primrose has exploded. The SC ladies mentioned that it was fun to see Devon last Thursday, so sorry that I didn't get to see her. Enjoyed all your lovely photos, have a good week. :)
ReplyDeleteIT does Hester!! Especially the meals etc...once I get there, I don't want to leave to go food shopping!!
DeleteI have evening primrose too!! Blooming all around the pool deck...smells lovely!!
Enjoy your week...
Lovely flowers as always. The pink kalanchoe is very pretty. I am so envious of your pool. If I had one I would live in it. Humidity is killing my joints but other than that things are fine. Beautiful wedding on the weekend with god-daughter and fiancé. Such a joyous occasion.
ReplyDeleteWe have had it for so long...used it so much when kids were small...need to get the heater on, so Miss V can get in this year!!
DeleteSounds like a grand wedding....
Beautiful pink flowers. I love the color pink. It looks very beautiful. On seeing the pool i feel some relaxation in my mind. it is nice to spend time near them with friends. Chairs looks beautiful with green color...
ReplyDeleteHI there Weekend-WIndup!!
DeleteThanks for visiting...
I don't own a kalanchoe, but now I really think I should! The rose coloured flowers are really pretty. I like your green garden chairs - we greatly admired this style of chair when we were in Canada, and loved that they come in such a festive range of colours. Hope they turn up here some time :) Bad luck with the rain, but the cottage looks so cosy and homely, it must still be fun being there. The picture window you created is brilliant, looking right out to the lake. The cod sounds good! Cheers P.
ReplyDeleteThey last for months and months...my White one from Thanksgiving (October) is STILL putting out blooms!!
DeleteIT is fun just being there Patricia...you got that right!!
You sound like me when my brain is on overdrive;)
ReplyDeleteAll your photos of plants are always sharp and clear..that begonia(pendula?) is spectacular and I am not a red person..nor orange..my ornage poppies are screaming at me..even in this downpour.
Such a pretty pool..we alwys had one(that sounds bad actually..) but the last time we moved 14 yrs ago..just J and I..we didn't get one..now that we have 4 grandsons..who knew?!I think it would be nice..we had 3 Saturday and I pulled out the plastic molded pool and we filled it..the 3 Littles wore J's bathing suits and still they had fun..they were like sardines;)
I am not a red person either!!! But I loved the foliage on that Begonia...the flowers were a bonus!!
DeleteWe curse the pool every Spring when we open it!! But...then...we fall in love again!!
Need to get the heater on, so Miss V can get in there!!
Oh...that must have been a sight with all 3 boys in the wee pool!! hahaha!
I apologize for all my typos!
DeleteTypos? never noticed!!
DeleteHi Linda, I love all your beautiful blooms at both places. You've certainly had some wet weather there lately. Will that be your summer forecast? I hope not. We actually had 4 straight day of sun here until today so I guess we needed the rain. I see the weeds are really popping up in the vegetable garden though. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHi Pam...don't know the long range...seems we get 2-4 days of one thing...and then 2-4 days of another!!
DeleteYUK! I hate weeding...good luck!!
That white milk glass in the first photo sets off those gorgeous peonies BEAUTIFULLY!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Debra...I thought so too!!
DeleteHappy Jam making. I made lekvar (Hungarian prune jam), this past weekend and it is delish. I always like to have some on hand. Sorry to read about the power going out. At least it was only two hours.
ReplyDeleteCold here today. I'm in my winter jams, as I type this.
