Latest At The Cottage....

The last few trips to the cottage, have been rather uneventful!

The weather is the biggest concern...

High winds...rough waters...and the never ending waves!!

This huge log is lodged up on the beach...it managed to take down the new Flag my boyfriend had installed on Easter weekend...We have moved it back to the beach deck for safe keeping!! It already looks like it has been up for the whole summer!!

The logs...branches...twigs...etc on the beach, will take us a long time to clean up...AGAIN...oh well...lots of fire wood I guess!!

The Lake is very HIGH...water way up the beach...hopefully that will recede a bit, so that Miss V can enjoy the shore...with some nice sand!!

I spied the first freighter of the year...well, for us anyways!!

Check out the raggedy Flag already!!

Last Friday the blue skies rolled in and rolled out just as quickly...

The sun was streaming thru way out on the Lake...

The Sedums and Succulents are popping up...

I need to clean last years sticks and leaves away...

Last week...I decided to take food and make lunch, instead of eating out...

Sometimes I find the restaurant food kinda tasteless...and expensive...

I toasted a couple of sub rolls...

Added some nice lean thinly sliced Ham...fresh tomatoes and lettuce...

It was delicious!!  Nothing better than home made,eh?

Unless...of course...you are at a very nice restaurant...then...

I LOVE IT!!

So...

That is what has been happening out at the cottage...

Hoping for some warm sunshine SOON!!

I have some Skinny Beef, Vegetable and Barley soup bubbling on the stove...

We had a blizzard over night...and then some rain...so again the snow is gone!!

After running a few errands this morning...

Boyfriend and I opted for lunch at Swiss Chalet...

So.....soup for dinner will be perfect!!

Enjoy the rest of your day...

                     Cheers!   :o)

  3. Our weather has kinda been the pits here too. Snow last night, then rain this morning. But it's sure warming up fast today! Fingers crossed you'll have a better weekend next visit to the lake. Gosh, that's a lot of messy debris you get piled on shore. Too bad about the flag, it does look rough for only a few weeks.

  4. I know you are happy to see your little sedums popping through. They look so healthy, too. We had a freeze at the lake Saturday night. My daughter covered my plants and everything looks ok except the tomatoes. I'm going to see how they do the rest of the week. I still have time to replant, if I have to. More and more, I would rather eat at home. I can eat healthier with a bigger variety. Your sandwich looks delish!

But...in pots...I don't have a beautiful veggie garden like you!
I prefer my own cooking, more and more!!

  5. High water...all that melting snow! I'm sure it will go down a bit and show some sand. There will be lots of treasures washed up to explore, I'm sure! Maybe some dentures. lol....
Love that sandwich..yum. I made bread last week and had forgotten how wonderful it is.
Chippy sure picked a charming spot, didn't he? Looks like something out of a fairy tale!

  6. The weather has been so crazy! Every time I think about putting away my warmer jackets BAM it's cold again. The days may be crazy but they make for great photography. Your photos are wonderful! And I always prefer homemade food; much tastier. Speaking of food, I made the 'Lemon Blueberry Yogurt Bread' that you shared the recipe for and it was DELICIOUS! I thought I had frozen blueberries in my freezer and found out I didn't when I started putting it together this morning...so...I used raspberries and blackberries instead, which I had picked up on Friday (1/2 cup of each). AWESOME! I think any of the berries will turn out great. I also used plain Greek yogurt and that also turned out great. We had some of the bread with dinner, and my husband and I both loved it; went back for more. I told him I found the recipe on your blog and he said to thank you. So THANK YOU from both of us :)

Nope...no wood chipper for us...we will use it all as fire wood!

Many plants, succulents peeking through . . .
Some eating out is enjoyed, but homemade favorites seem to receive a huge thumbs up!
I hope this week is our "for sure" beginning of spring time bliss!

  9. I love that shot of the shoreline; it gives us a sense of your neighborhood, which looks so pretty. All that cleaning up the beach and garden, and no wonder you always look so fit and trim. I know what you mean about the cafe food, sometimes you just want to do you own thing, and your rolls look yummy.

  14. Love the way your photos tell a story! I like Chippy's home, cute the way that you marked it with an arrow. I made the berry yogurt bread on the weekend and it was delish. Except that I had to use strawberry no fat yogurt, because I forgot to buy plain. Still yummy, though and this BF loved it. I posted my African violets on FB yesterday, but no pressure for you to check them out. :) Have a good week...

  17. I see that today was the day of the first salty ship into the Toronto harbour and a top hat is presented to the captain (saw that on BT this morning)
Our flag gets ripped easily and has to be replaced a couple of times a year. Too bad yours got damaged. Looking forward to nicer weekend.

  18. It all looks wonderful, Linda - even with gray skies and wind. Old Man Winter is having a hard time letting go, I see, but Miss Spring is starting to assert herself with beautiful new growth. It's so nice to be cozy inside when the winds are howling outside, especially with good food and good company. That big old log on the beach would make a wonderful garden feature! If you can move it, that is! Sure wish I could join you for that delicious looking sandwich. xx Karen
