I got a chance this afternoon...
To take a quick look....
Around my garden..
It was a brisk, sunny day....
I put on my shoes and a big sweater...
Grabbed my trusty camera...
And headed out...
It felt really nice...
Cold...
Crisp...
Refreshing...
Miss V had left early afternoon...
And..I was..
Kinda...
Feeling sorry for myself...and missing her...♥
I think I found some extraordinary color...
From the Crimson reds....
To the Pale Yellows...
And the Limey Greens...
The Solomon Seal is putting on an extremely beautiful show right now...
Such a lovely Perennial.....in every season...
And...of course...who can forget the Hosta...a real favorite...
These Mums have been in my garden for over 25 years...I almost forgot about them, as they are near the sidewalk...
For passers-by's pleasure....:o) is that a word???
The Oak tree...which a kindly squirrel planted for me...
There are no others nearby...so he brought it specially for me...♥
The Boston Ivy is turning a hot red...
This is one side of my house...
The Ivy wraps all the way down, and cross the back of the house...
I featured it in my header, that you have all graciously commented on...
The back is nearly bare...
The windy days have taken care of that!!!
The backyard Cedars, are unusually yellow this Fall...
Dropping a lot of their leaves...
Making quite a mess!!
I know this Miscanthus Plume is not Yellow or Red...
But...
Gosh.....
Isn't it awesome?
We have this spectacular view out our kitchen window....
I took lots more...
But...
I need to start limiting the number of pictures I post...
Takes too long to organize them...
Into some semblance...
Hope you enjoyed this short tour...
Have you all got plenty of color still left in your yards???
Or.....has Mother Nature finished her work for now....
********
Hope you are all having a great day...
Thanks for all your well wishes for Miss V, my daughter...and boyfriend...
They are greatly appreciated...♥
*********
Heading our for Greek tonight...
But.......I have 2 cakes cooling on the counter...
This time....Vanilla Cinnamon Banana Blueberry loaf..
with..
Brown sugar, walnut cinnamon topping...
The house smells AWESOME!!
Considering....we are being "SKUNKED" every other night here!!!
Smells like he is right in the room with us....AWFUL!!!
Hope he/she moves to a new location...PEEEE EWWW!!!
********
Enjoy your evening...
Cheers! :o)
linda
Oh no, I hate skunk-smell. I hope the cake sorta covers it. Your garden is undergoing a lot of change now. I love the red ivy, that's really gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt goes away...but when it is happening...YIKES!!!
DeleteThe cakes smell luscious!!
We have a skunk that likes to make himself known in our neighborhood, too! Amazing how that smell can make it's way into a house that is all closed up!
ReplyDeleteLovely colors around your yard...I need to get out for a drive with my camera soon!
Yes....we were about to look under the couch, and see if he was there!! haha!
DeleteYes...do that!
Your garden is still looking great Linda, love the miscanthus when they go like that. Send the skunk to see the raccoon... Hope that the cake smell is lovely and that the cakes taste delish - bet they do! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy....Perennials are THE BEST!!!
DeleteThey take care of themselves...with just a bit of loving!
The skunk and the raccoon deserve each other!!!
Enjoy your week♥
Well, you know what I think of raccoon, so you can imagine what I would be thinking of skunk! Oh, just thought of another option, but I won't mention that (moose hunter man!). Hope you have a good week too. xx
DeleteMoose hunter is well known by toothless ponytail!!!
DeleteThe towns surrounding the cottage are very small!!! hahaha!
I'm not worried! Neither moose or toothless are likely to be bloggers or turn up on my doorstep, and if they do, I have a shed roof that needs fixing!! Please don't send them! xx
DeleteMy gosh, you have a lot of color in your yard still! That Boston Ivy is stunning...I would love to have that creeping all the side of my house. Mother Nature and her wind has blown every leaf in Nebraska to my yard so I have lots of color from them. and the mums that are hanging on. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your header!
Well Sarah....I have been a fan of your blog for a very long time!
DeleteSO nice of you to visit....and leave such nice thoughts...
Hope you come back again!
Your photos of the fall colour in your yard are really beautiful. I love the reflection in the car windshield too. You always have such a great eye for seeing things no one else would. Our stuff is pretty well done. Nothing pretty left except the geraniums on the front porch. I covered them tonight as it's going down to -4!! Our coldest night yet this fall. Great photos Linda!
ReplyDeleteWell thanks Pam...I try to look for something unusual...kinda hard when you photograph the same things all the time!
DeleteI think we are -1 tonight...all my geraniums are snug inside!
Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteSuch a lot of brilliant autumn colour in your garden. Your photographs are fantastic and I'm so so envious of your cottage on the lake, what a view!
Hi Rusty...thanks for visiting...
DeleteOur cottage is very special to my family..♥
Hope you will visit often...
I love the oak leaves with the sunlight behind. So much colour still in your garden. Mine is just about finished. Leaves at the back are all down, I cut the hosta back a week or so, mums are quite droopy now from the rain and wind. We are as ready for winter as we will ever be!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda...I guess cause it is so teeny...and kinda sheltered here...it still looks pretty darn good!!
