As Miss V is snoozing...
I thought I would take this opportunity...
To update you on my crochet progress...
The afghan I showed you previously is completed...
It is nice and big...
And very plush...
Just the ticket for a chilly evening...
Soon it will be wrapped and under the tree...
I really like the combination of double crochet...every other row into the back loop only...
Makes a very nice pattern...
Much snappier than just DC all the way...
What do you think???
Next project....
This is the first time I have worked with 4 ply cotton...
I have mixed feelings...
1. it doesn't glide as easily as the wool/acrylic...
2. it stretches!!!
A LOT!!!!!
I followed a sort of pattern...very loosey-goosey...
This is a pillow cover...with a bit of a popcorn stitch...which I have adapted to suit my style and tension...
I have finished both back and front pieces...now to put them together...sew on a few buttons...and it will be finished...
Will show it to you all when I am completely finished...
The pattern is....cast on # of stitches you want to desired width...should be an uneven #....I used 59 stitches...
SC first row...ch2...DC all along...ch1...SC next row...ch1..turn...sc first stitch... TRC in next stitch...sc in next stitch...this makes the little popcorn...to end of row...
SOOOO....
That is 1 row of SC...ch 2...1 row of DC...ch 1...1 row of SC...ch 1...1 row of sc,TRC,sc...till it measures desired length...
Do you see the pattern developing???
Good...
'Cause it took me 3 ripouts to get my brain in gear to this pattern...
And...it kept stretching bigger every few rows...so...I adjusted the stitches myself to suit!
Not too full of turkey! hahaha!
Another sunny day...but a bit nippier...and breezy...
On the menu tonight...
Turkey Pot Pie!!! surprise....suprise!!!
Also....a pot of Turkey soup....
Took a break from the stove yesterday...
Enjoy the rest of your day!!!
Cheers! :o)

DeleteThey look great! Your work is so nice and neat. I do find that cotton yarn stretches a lot. But your project is looking great so far. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThat is great....coming from you Jennifer...the master crocheter!!!
DeleteI love doing the crochet into the back loops, gives a nice texture to the finished item. It will be a wonderful Christmas gift.
ReplyDeleteThe pillow cover is coming along nicely ... another gift?
Turkey soup made here too. I'm planning a post with the recipe ... just need to get myself into gear and get it done. Rain tomorrow so perhaps I'll do it then.
Did you have Name/url option for commenting? can't find it today. I'll use my backdoor Wordpress site.
