Cottage Critters......
We finally made it to the cottage on Saturday afternoon....
It had been very wet there all week, so things were really growing....
We got settled...
And set to work on removing the winter storms and installing the summer screens on the sunporch...
Then we have to carrry the heavy storms down to the basement...
Job well done!!!
More raking etc...tidying up the garden beds...then it started to sprinkle...
Darn!!!
Found a spot on the porch, and watched the water and the birds...
Had a lovely fire inside, and slept like logs!
Sunday was "cut the grass day"...and more gardens to fine tune...
Not really much in bloom....still lots to come...
We did enjoy the antics of the wildlife tho"!!!
Not 10 minutes after slicing up a couple of oranges...
The orioles appeared...will get some better shots soon...
And...the Tree Swallow has set up house near our shed...in a very interesting birdhouse!
The Turtles were spotted on the sideroad we take in to the cottage...
Had to stop and get a picture!!!

Hope you all had a a great day....
On and off showers here all day...
BUT....
We got the pool cover off....YAY!!!!

beautiful photos!!! Alive with critters!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes...the sound of all the birds, waves and wind sometimes gets deafening!
DeleteI'm glad that you are getting out there and being able to enjoy your cottage time again. Is that a new little red fellow following you out to the cottage or your regular little friend? He looks very happy wherever it is that he lives! xx
ReplyDeleteNope....different squirrel! Hahaha!
DeleteMust be related, tho',eh?
What's lovely Zoo you have there:)
ReplyDeleteAll the shots are beauty and fun Linda!
Oh Gloria.....like Betsy! Hahaha!
DeleteYes I think that
DeleteAnyway I would have a little squirrel:)
Only I have two bunnies and two dogs.
Well and the birds around:)
I am sure it is beautiful where you live, Gloria!
DeleteDon't believe her, Linda. She meant she would like to bake that squirrel! Gloria Dear!
DeleteNEVER! Gloria would never do that...would 'ya Gloria??? no...of course not! HA!
DeleteHello dear Linda. I am here catching up..which it seems I am doing a lot of lately! I miss you, and our chats. Life took a turn on the crazy train, and I haven't been able to slow down long enough to breathe is weeks!!
ReplyDeleteThe cottage looks lovely. So very like the cabins we have had in Big Bear. Lots of charming knotty pine, for us, and cozy surroundings. Rock fireplace, etc. Love it! How long have you had your place there?
Lots of pretty things blooming your way now!
xo Kris
I will email you in the morning...and we will get all caught up!
DeleteThis will be our 17th summer...it went fast!
Love those cute turtles!
ReplyDeleteThere was a log across the creek....and it was FULL of turtles!
DeleteWhat an interesting variety of birds, Linda, and the turtles are impressive.
ReplyDeleteNice shot of the squirrel too.
Did you have to wait in ambush for long naking the shots?
Thanks Eddie...
DeleteI usually see them far away...grab my camera...zoom in...presto!
I ALWAYS have my camera nearby....that is the key!
Yes - I learned that too late. I have missed some impressive shots like a car on fire (nobody hurt but it looked so impressive) - this was in my ambulance days - and a hot air baloon just over a church which would have been captioned "Just dropping in for the service, Vicar" It would have made a good post!
DeleteNow I carry it everywhere.
Good for you!
DeleteNow...get out there and take some pictures!
Hahaha!
Oh you are bossy!
DeleteOK I will LOL
:o)
DeleteBeautiful pics of the cottage critters, Linda. The turtles are pretty darn cute! I'm glad you could enjoy a couple days there. Today wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Cloudy with a few peeps of sun and in the mid-teens. Not bad at all. xo Pam
ReplyDeleteWe were happy to finally get something done!
DeleteFull steam ahead!
Wow...Red brought a friend! I bet he likes her tail. LOL!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou can never have too many squirrels!
DeleteHow fun! My bird collection has been growing again. Saw a hummingbird just the other day and both the bluebirds and the cardinals have been making their acquaintance. Of course, there are plenty of others hanging about too including a great variety of black birds. I refuse to fill the feeder every day.
ReplyDeleteDon't tell Betsy that you have Bluebirds!
DeleteShe wants them desperately!
I usually just put a handful of seed...cause...that pesky Red gobbles it up!
Oh, phooey! I am getting mixed up again. They were blue jays, not bluebirds. Maybe I need a bluebird box or two though. It might work here, we have a bit of open space.
DeleteSO you need boxes for Bluebirds...I didn't know that!
DeleteShhhh...don't tell Betsy...I told her you had Bluebirds...see if she reads this!
It's fabulous being outside again..but flipping heck...it was cold.
ReplyDeleteThat grey squirrel has ATTITUDE written all over his face!
Jane x
It sure was cold Jane!
DeleteHopefully this weekend will be better!
The critters sure kept you busy this weekend, Linda. I have a fondness for turtles. Had many as a child. I love those black squirrels with the brown tails. I see them around here, too. This coming weekend hopefully will be better for you weather-wise. Here's hoping. Hugs
ReplyDeleteI think we all had turtles back in the day...
DeleteNow I think they are illegal!
Not a minute too soon! Hahaha!
Great critter photos, especially the turtles, they're really neat to watch!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that this bunch had other things on their minds!!
DeleteIf you know what I mean!
Happy critters make for fun pictures.
ReplyDeleteThey sure do, Ivy....
DeleteEnjoy your day!
the orioles sure do love the oranges don't they, between your garden and mine they get very spoiled
ReplyDeletelots of other lovely birds and critters, so glad the swallows are making a nest where you can watch them
have a great day
They are in a "refrigerator" bird house that my daughter gave me years ago!
DeleteI bought some lovely ceramic swallow houses...but no...they love the old "refrigerator"..hahaha!
i absolutely LOVE THIS POST!
ReplyDeletexo
Well I absolutely loved that you said that!
DeleteSo many creatures, I do love squirrels. Even in drizzly weather it must be lovely to just sit on the porch and watch the wildlife.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Jay....I love when the rain comes straight down...nothing like it!
DeletePics are to die for! Simply wonderful. Accomplish much - good. Hard work makes for some hard sleep. Cheers!!
ReplyDeleteThanks bobbybegood1....at least we ENJOY all the hard work!
